Authentic, maybe. Good? Not THAT good. I don’t get the fascination with Cuquita’s. I feel like their ability to season things is average at best. My SO does like the posole, and the presentation with the thinly shredded cabbage and white onions on the side is nice. Flavor of the posole was OK to me. I ordered a chile relleno and it was freshly fried which is important, but aside from that not too much flavor in the ground beef filling, and nothing special as far as the ingredients go to set it apart. Plus quite greasy as if it was not properly drained after frying. Rice and beans did taste home-made, but not in a flavorful way — some of the hispanic homemade rice and beans I have had in the past was equally tasteless. Not like delicious beans I have had in Mexico City that actually had, you guessed it, FLAVOR! Finally, their two salsas were watery and lacked much taste at all. Overall, I almost added a star because our service was friendly and efficient and maybe there are some gems on the menu and I just ordered wrong. Have not tried their breakfasts — maybe that is what I’m missing. However, to me the food is 2 stars, and I am in no hurry to ever go back.

My favorite authentic Mexican place in town. Everything tastes like home cooking. Some of my favorites are the pozole, the tacos with red sauce, and the costillas de puerco. Never had a bad thing from the menu. When you sit down, they bring you a fresh hot corn tortilla made in-house. It melts like butter in your mouth. And everything is $ 10 or less. Can’t beat the combination of value and taste. Oh, and breakfast all day!

What a great find! This isn’t the fanciest of places, but it serves some of the most authentic Mexican food I’ve had in the metroplex. My co-worker initially introduced me to this place, and within a couple of days, I found myself coming back for more. From what I read online, I knew that the pozole was going to be a must-order. However, after being seated and scanning the menu, I was getting more hungry and settled on trying the pollo en mole. While you wait for food, fresh tortillas are brought out and served with butter. Even if you normally order flour, it is absolutely essential that you get the corn tortillas. These are not tortillas taken out of a bag and thrown on the flat top for a few seconds. These are freshly made in house tortillas and are oh so good. If you want an authentic experience, smear some butter on them, dab a little bit of salt and enjoy. When the food arrived, I knew I was in for something good. The mole was not too sweet and very well balanced. I took some of those corn tortillas that were still left, and just scooped up all of that goodness. Upon my next visit, I ordered what I originally set out to get, and tried their pozole. When it got to the table, it was served in a very large bowl, with cabbage, lime, and onions to garnish. After putting it away very quickly, I now understood why every other table had a bowl of pozole on it. Easily in my top 3 pozoles all time. Good service, great food, and da bomb tortillas. Yup, I think it’s safe to say I am a fan of Cuquita’s.

Disappointing. We went on a Friday around 3:30– there were a fair number of customers. The salsa was so watered down it tasted like tomato juice mixed with water– no spice or flavor. Chips were stale. I ordered three chicken enchiladas with green sauce– I received it with red enchilada sauce. The food was barely warm. The refried beans and rice were flavorless. The enchiladas were average– nothing special. Our waitress disappeared and we finally had to ask another server for the check. Definitely will not return.

We stumbled on this place after getting that hangry feeling and not seeing anything else that looked appealing in the area. It was worth the wait! Great staff. Better food.

As with the other 5 Star reviewers I found Cuquita’s to be on point on every level. Great service. Great value. Great food. The Chilaquilas Chorizo & huevos is awesome! Friendly employees. A+

Yum. Loved every single thing I had here today. The homemade corn and flour tortillas, jamaica agua frescas, beef fajitas, rice, beans, chips, salsa, everything! All of it was so good. I’m currently writing this with a massive food coma. Reminds me of some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in the homes of some of my friends, lovingly prepared by their mothers. Cute décor and friendly service to boot.

Authentic Mexican Food? You bet it is! The fajitas are cooked to perfection. And it comes combined with rice and beans and lettuce and tomatoes. The flour tortillas are so fluffy and good. The horchata is the best I’ve tasted in Dallas without a doubt. The portions are large so you won’t leave hungry. Ideally you and a date can eat like kings for only $ 30. Which is rare in Dallas.

Just mediocre. Chips were out of a bag. Fajitas were decent but nothing to come back for. Home made tortillas were the best part of the meal.

Authentic Mexican food? You’ve found a decent place. It’s next to a Fiesta grocery store in a strip mall area. Décor was nice and didn’t have to wait to be seated on a Saturday afternoon. Chips and salsa were okay. I personally would have preferred a less liquid type of salsa but it wasn’t bad. They serve you warm corn tortillas. We ordered 2 orders of guacamole to start off, and they are served with the lime and everything on the side so you can mix it yourself. It was really good, the only thing was that one order came with a lemon and one didn’t? Entrees came pretty quickly. I ordered cheese enchiladas with verde sauce. I would have enjoyed them more if they were chicken, just because for some reason I expected cheddar cheese but got Monterey Jack. Refried beans and rice were good. My bf ordered the burrito plate and he enjoyed his plate. Photos of each are included as well as the chips and salsa. One of my favorite drinks at Mexican places is the Horchata, and I tried it out here. It was good, but I’ve had better. San Diego Taco Shop is the one that makes me drool for it, more cinnamon I think. Took a snapshot of the drink as well. Good experience overall. It took awhile to get our checks, and we asked to split the bill. Unfortunately when it came back it was split incorrectly, but we were in too much of a hurry to wait for it to be corrected. We paid and appropriately split the cost in our party the way we’d desired. I’d like to try another plate next time.

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant! My brother found this place 7 years ago and my family and I have enjoyed coming here ever since! Their Mexican food is truly«authentic». Everything we have tried here is 10⁄10. I especially love their chicken flautas… Very crispy and the meat is fresh. I sometimes order their chicken mole and I have to say it’s the best mole I’ve ever tried. You have to order their horchata. Very cinnamony and milky. The service here is also great and we have never had anything but a great experience coming to Cuquitos!

Chips were ok. Tasted like regular Doritos. Two salsa’s both were warm and thin. One had no chunks of anything, just watery. The only particulate in the other was rolled up tomato skin. The tortilla that was served pre-meal with butter was excellent. The enchilada’s, 2 beef, 1 cheese were disgustingly greasy, but where did that grease come from? It was either from the inch thick mountain of cheese that covered the entrée or that very thin salsa roja that was poured on top. Seriously, there was so much cheese, I had trouble finding the enchilada. That greasy roja also found it’s way ove to the rice and tainted it beyond edibility. Left feeling a little sick. Tea was not only re-filled, but it was brought in a fresh second glass with ice. WIGB? Uh, no.

Cuquitas is without exceptions amazing and highly authentic food. Strongly recommended to those who both enjoy authentic food and just entering into this style of food.

May be our last time here. We like the overall taste of the food but today my wife was craving for chilaquiles and what a mess. First of all this is the first time I see chilaquiles with scrambled eggs and chorizo so we went for chorizo only. WRONG! There was an oil bed underneath the tortillas it was like good oil soup!!! So we decided to ask for plain chilaquiles I mean the way chilaquiles should be. Tortillas and salsa! That’s it. So they bring the new plate… This time is only egg and no chorizo can’t they understand only salsa!!! My wife decided to eat them since we didn’t want to wait once more for the food to come and they were OK… The bathrooms are in horrible condition I know this is not a fancy restaurant but at least I’d expect a clean bathroom. WRONGAGAIN!!! Only good part was the service our waitress was friendly and responded quickly. Next time I’ll cook real chilaquiles for my wife :)

Best Caldo de Res but they run out at the lunch hour especially if it is cold outside or raining. This is a favorite place to have Mexican fare including breakfast items and menudo on the weekends. The corn tortillas are incredible and again– don’t pass up the caldo de res!

Independent restaurant in a Mexican-based strip mall nestled next to a Fiesta grocery off Spring Valley. Interior is bigger than it looks from the outside, and overrun with Mexican décor. A short iron fence marks off a patio in front of the place. The menu is strongly Mexican rather than Tex-Mex, and the food is great. Had the guiso de puerco with R&B, very good with a homemade taste to everything. Tortillas were hand-made and delicious, but the chips(served with two salsas) were commercial store-bought. Full at weekday lunch and with myself being about the only bolillo in the place, I’ll say it passes for authentic. Big plate of lunch for around $ 10 is hard to beat.

No refills Every drink on the menu has a note next to them stating no free refills or one free refills. The fountain drinks on the other hand don’t have any notes. They bring you a can of soda. I’m better off going to the fiesta next door and buying a case of sodas for cheaper the price here. The drinks are no good.

This place was close to an errand we had to run and was in my bookmarks so we thought we’d give it a shot. Nice staff… good food… and for my two cents… pretty authentic food. I had the chicken fajitas which are served more traditionally on a plate instead of a sizzling skillet as is so common in Tex-Mex places. They were good but a little bland. Wife had the Guiso de Res which she said was also good but somewhat bland. All in all, I enjoyed it and would visit again if in the area but would not make a special trip there from our area.

This place has too few reviews compared to its popularity. On the weekends especially, it gets very busy. My favorite is caldo de res soup. They run out fast, though. So you have to get there early in the day.

I got to say, it’s not horrible, but in my opinion it is not worthy of more than two stars. I always say you get your first impression of a Mexican restaurant by the chips and salsa, and this place does not deliver a very favorable first impression. Seriously, I have bought better from Fiesta, right next door. The meal that follwed was no better than the chips and salsa. I have tried this place twice now and honestly, I just don’t get the four and five star ratings, as I think a 3 star would be generous.
