Ordered the tofu fried rice and egg drop soup. Delivery was not overly delayed, but the food was aweful. The egg drop soup was the oiliest I have ever tasted. Very greasy tasting. My rice was good, but the tofu was tough, tasteless and COLD. Almost as if they took the stuff from the fridge and stirred it in the rice before dropping it in the box. Wont be using this place, except to get a replacement for the food I couldnt eat!

The food was extremely bland. Besides that, the service was pretty bad. The delivery driver, instead of coming up to my apartment like every other delivery driver who has ever delivered food to me has, made me come down to the street(in the cold) so I can receive my food through her car window. At least she was nice enough to lean over a little bit so that I could receive my food through her passenger window and not have to go around to her driver side window, which would have placed me in the middle of the street. I kind of regret giving her a tip online before receiving my food. I ordered the chicken fried rice. The chicken tasted boiled. Nothing about the dish had much flavor. After I poured enough soy sauce on it, it wasn’t bad; but I feel like that is the case with any Chinese food. The egg drop soup tasted like oily water. Or, maybe watery oil. I can’t decide. The egg rolls were OK, but I had really ordered spring rolls and they gave me the wrong thing. Delivery time was about an hour, which was expected given the time of night I ordered. One little note I’d make to the restaurant, in case they read this. I wasn’t thrilled about your food but I probably would have never written this review if it wasn’t for the terrible service I got.

Good drunk food. Exactly what I expected. Would totally order again. Just don’t get too crazy with the order. Keep it simple.

Food was not cooked thoroughly, the chicken was still tough and the noodles did not have a good flavor. I ordered there because there was nothing else close-by that was open during the holidays, but I should have paid attention to the reviews first.

We ordered crab rangoon, sesame chicken, and the broccoli stir fry for delivery. Both of the entrees were fairly good, cooked through, and hot when we received them. In addition, the delivery time was about 45 minutes. However, I have a bone to pick with Chef House about their«crab» rangoon. First off, they are huge and difficult to eat because of how poorly folded they are. Also, While I found the wontons to be tasty, you cannot call it CRAB rangoon if their isn’t any crab in it! I meant that in the nicest way possible. I still enjoyed the item, but it’s borderline false advertising to call the dish crab rangoon when it contains 99% cream cheese and 1% green onion for the filling. Knocked off a star for that, since this is one of my favorite items to order.

I wanted the food to be good, and it’s a shame because the employees are so sweet but this food is literally the worst of the worst. It’s a shame because there are so many late night options in Dallas this place needs to step it up if they plan on staying around. I bit into my chicken which triggered my gag reflex instantly and I honestly question if it was even chicken. So bad.

Also when ordering, double check for your rice. I’ve ordered delivery twice in the last few weeks(don’t judge my recluse lifestyle) and both times they left out the rice. The first time I wasn’t too bummed because I had some rice I could whip up in 5 minutes but this time(12/11/2015) I wasn’t so lucky. And my tofu was sautéed to a crisp. Dry and tough to chew. Dear Chef House: «say something, I’m giving up on you.»

The food is OK at best. We ordered for delivery and it took so long we just cooked and ate food we had. After three hours the driver didn’t follow the specific instructions we had given to find our building. The General Tso chicken had raw broccoli in it. The fried rice was weird and tasted like toilet water. It used to be so much better. They have new owners or something. I don’t recommend this place.

I thought it was fast delivery, but now I know why. The broccoli in the flipping hottest General Tso’s Chicken I have ever had was not cooked and thus, I feared the chicken wasn’t as well and so I had to stick it in the microwave. The wonton crisps for my soup were burnt to a crisp. The egg roll was just okay and the crab rangoons were undercooked, didn’t come with sauce and most importantly there was not one bite of crab in the first three I bit into, so I threw them out.

Ordered hot & sour soup, fried tofu, and Hunan vegetables with a side of sweet & sour sauce via grub hub. I initially had to wait 1 hour and 15 minutes for my order — which was fine because grub hub told me to expect that. However when I received my order, I was missing my side of sweet and sour sauce, utensils, napkins, and my vegetable dish had chicken in it. I called them back and they were nice but it took them another hour and 15 minutes to get a replacement… The hot & sour soup tasted nothing like any hot & sour soup I’ve had before… More salty and soy like. The crispy things that came with it tasted like they had been sitting in oil for an extended period of time. The fried tofu was cold, and the sweet and sour sauce was a strange pink color that almost tasted like heated jam. The rice tasted old and like it had been sitting out for a while, and the vegetables were undercooked and sliced so big and chunky they were almost inedible. I had initially asked for no mushrooms — and although they did replace the first mistake(chicken) the second one did have mushrooms. I gave up after that.

A 2-hour delivery is beyond unacceptable. The delivery person did not read the special instructions on how to get into our building. No chopsticks(a pet peeve when ordering Chinese). Only one mistake on our order. The food was decent tasting, but cold because of the long delivery. I recommend ordering from another place. This place is def not worth it.

Chef House is a great option for delicious chinese at a fair price! They’re very friendly and pick-up is a really fast process. The delivery process takes somewhat longer but the food is really good. I’ve lived near this place for two and a half years and I’ve never had a bad experience!

Doing our 24th wedding anniversary on the cheap. We had the Kung Pao chicken and also the Schezuan chicken extra spicy. Extra spicy was just right. Generous portions. Started with the hot and sour soup. Good prices on canned soft drinks and water bottles. Only $ 1 each. Very good for takeout.

This place does not disappoint! We just did grub hub ordering, and it showed up 35 – 45 minutes before estimated, hot and exactly as we asked for it. I had the Kung pao chicken, husband had the snap pea chicken, and we split the crab Rangoon. Absolutely amazing. You can ask for spicy ranges, too! I like spicy, so I get 3 or 4 usually, but silly me, I forgot to ask this time! I highly recommend this if you’re not interested in driving yourself somewhere or sitting down. It’s inexpensive, super tasty, timeless, and exactly how you asked for it every single time!

Affordable, tasty, fresh, and generous portions, but too oily. I think Chinese restaurants use a lot of hot oil to keep their takeout food warm in their containers. But, if you show up there, and want to eat in their limited seating area, perhaps they could cut out some of the oil. There are many nightclubs and bars in the Oak Lawn area, so, this place gets busy late at night. Interesting people-watching opportunity. They need to wipe down their countertop and doors more often.

Oh dear. No no no. As others have mentioned, if you’re under the influence and you’re approaching the morning hours this might, and I’ll emphasize might, be a decent idea only in that it’s the only option out there within an already weak Chinese food scene in Dallas. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Well it’s nothing fancy if you choose to eat in, but it’s open late and they’re quick on the carry out. Can’t really complain there. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? So I didn’t take a picture of my orders of Orange and General Tso’s Chicken that were $ 9.25 each, but know that these portions were absolutely massive. My two orders that came with small portions of steamed rice ended up covering at least three meals, and while(as you’ll see) the quality was bad, there was certainly some value here. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Yikes. No. I can very often judge the quality of Chinese food by their steamed rice, and right off the bat this was some piss poor steamed rice. Undercooked, clumpy and cardboardy in flavor, it wasn’t at all improved by either the orange or general tso’s chicken dishes. The chicken? I can hardly call it that there was so much poor breading and fat, and even the sauce tasted bottled and unimaginative. All in all this was very poor Chinese cuisine. No Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? No. Chef House serves a purpose of late night drunk food, and even on that scale it isn’t great. No Star Granted.

Chef House is one of the few places that stays open late enough to order from when you’re not quite 100% and full on eye of the tiger. But the ordering system is a little bit sloppy and I had a difficult time making sure the order I placed actually made it back. When it comes to subpar late night food, I usually set a low bar to keep my expectations in line, but even then Chef House didn’t quite do the job. After placing our order online, my friends and I waited maybe half an hour before deciding to give them a call and check on our order. It was a Sunday night so we didn’t think they’d be too busy. Turns out they hadn’t received are order and so it was only then just placed. Another 30 minutes later, the food finally arrives, but what was inside didn’t count for much. It was all very greasy, something that I’d anticipated but even then it was a bit much. The meats were all soggy, especially the chicken, where it should have been at least slightly crispy, and the flavors had all started to blend with each other. If nothing else, this place is open extremely late, but I think next time I’ll look elsewhere for my super late night snackums.

When you’re craving Chinese food and it’s late, Chef House has you covered. Is it greasy? YES Is it mediocre? Slightly above. So, why four stars? Because I love late night Asian food and this place is close. Plus, the staff was actually really friendly considering it was almost 1 in the morning. I will be back when my inner late-night chopsticks rumble again.

The only time you should ever come here is when you are hungry at 1AM and feel like getting Chinese take-out. I have had much better food with better service/price and less shady place. No offense, but the place is not at a good location at all, and the interior looks pretty cheap. I understand that it’s a small restaurant, and they did do their best to decorate it with Halloween stuff, but the effect was ultimately sub-par at best. Food here is so-so. My friend ordered a red curry(which cost him 9 bucks), and I got an appetizer chicken dumplings(5 dollars). The dumplings I got were pretty sad. They were a bit over fried and really doughy. I wish there was more meat in the dumplings and that they would taste like something without me dipping them in soy sauce. My friend’s red curry was kinda pathetic as well. The chicken was poor quality and the amount of food you get for 8.5−9 bucks is just not really worth it. But really, it opens really late, which is perfect for those late night consumers. I also give it props for trying to decorate the place… but seriously though this place looks pretty shady. … o. o

I was craving some late night, greasy Asian food and found this place on Unilocal. It’s open until 2:30am on Sundays — perfect for the Sunday night life on this street. It’s a small, dinky fast food place, but their menu is pretty extensive for such a small place. They have both Chinese and Thai food. I opted for the drunken noodles, and I had a bite of my boyfriend’s green curry and my friend’s tom yum. My noodles were surprisingly good! I did not expect much from a fast food joint with 3 starts on Unilocal, but I think they’re being underrated. I really enjoyed my spicy, basil-y dish! And the chicken is of much better quality than at many, many fast food places. I expected small, minced, or dry pieces, but the cuts were big and juicy! The green curry is also decent, but the drunken noodles definitely outshine it. My friend’s order was made wrong — they added coconut milk to his tom yum, but it was still delicious. I loved how liberal they were with the large mushrooms. Service is also super friendly! My friend asked if they could put more regular broth in his tom yum since they accidentally put coconut milk in it, and they made him a completely new soup free of charge. So sweet! Come here for late night Asian cravings! Don’t expect anything spectacular, but I do recommend the drunken noodles.
