The only reason I went here was to celebrate a birthday with some friends. We got there about 9 and there was hardly anyone there. The food isn’t that great for the prices that they charge. After 10 the place tturned into a club in the front part of the restaurant.

I was thinking this would be a laid back quiet bar that happened to serve sushi. The second we walked in, it was a club atmosphere with a small dance floor and dj included pumping a mix of dance version hip-hop singles, while trendy men and women yelled over loud music. They had a good sized bar and a sepereate sitting area to order and eat sushi. This was good, as I didn’t have to raise my voice to conversate with my wife, but could still enjoy the scene. The sushi menu was commendable, and there were several sushi chefs ready to prepare your meal. First we tried the snowcrab sashimi which was prepared beautifully and tasted very fresh and moved on to the Dallas roll which was tempura jumbo shrimp, cream cheese, and avocado inside. Then snow crab with sweet sauce and miso is added on top of the roll. Scrumptious! The waitress was very accomodating and even provided a drink on the house when she noticed I was drinking water(i’m alcohol free for the next 37 days and counting). If you go, try the tempura vanilla ice cream, good stuff.

(Complaint Letter I Sent Them) On Friday Jan 23rd — after stepping out to make a phone call — I was asked to leave — or remove my hooded Polo sweatshirt. I stated to the doorman/bouncer that I had a tab and needed to get my credit card and ID. He explained that I could remove it or tuck it in. I told him I would close out and leave. When I returned to my party I told the bartender we were asked to leave and why, and she explained that, that policy didn’t start until 10. So I proceeded to finish my drink and complete my meal.(Time roughly 9:20pm) At about 10: pm A really tall guy told me I had to leave due to my hooded sweatshirt — despite the fact that I tucked it in(seems he wanted me out). I said no problem — and proceeded to close out. But WHY did he have to stand there as if he had to escort me out. This was totally unnecessary and rude — especially because I was a paying customer and not disruptive at all.(I had 1 shot and 2 martinis. So I was not intoxicated.). I forgot my to go box of rice, because I just was so upset to just leave.(I returned to get it only to discover that it was tossed by the bus boy — I turned to exit and standing behind me with his arms crossed was the same very tall guy; I mean really, was this neccessary!) I will never retutn to chaucers again! This was my 3rd time coming — my 1st time was on the 15th and our tab was well over $ 150 — party of 6. The 2nd time was on the 22nd our tab was about $ 75 — party of 5. The 3rd was on the 23rd and my tab was $ 60 — party of 3. A friend invited me. Then i invited a few people. Then I returned because I love the Chicken Fried Rice. I will not be recommending anyone else — and will share my bad experience with friends. Note on the 15th and on the 22nd — when we arrived there were only 5 to 7 other people there. I assume that my Hoodie is so bad that having less people and revenue is fine — even during a recession. I will not be back. Thanks but no thanks. I see why It’s so empty.

Compared to the Addison location this place is so much nicer. It’s more spacious, there’s no dank smell of cigs(which I don’t mind) and sweaty dancing from the night before, and the restrooms have more stalls and urinals! No waiting in line! At least for the guys… I came up here on Monday night with a few friends for some drinks and food and it was pretty dead here, but I did enjoy the quietness while eating my rolls. As for the rolls I had the spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls. These were pretty good, but not spicy enough. That’s of course solved with the wasabi and soy sauce! Service at the bar by Brian was pretty good, since they weren’t really busy. They actually had some Korean Bek Se Ju soju, I was surprised! Then topped off my dinner with some Japanese beer. Good stuff.
