closed… has now been repainted and another Mexican place sign is already up, though it doesn’t look open yet. Taking votes: Who thinks we need another Tex-Mex on Lemmon?

Nothing out of the ordinary, except the fact that your clothes reek after leaving. Typical tex-mex with no real stand outs. I went with a group of people on a friday night after everyother tex mex resturant around had a 1.5 hr wait. We got in with no problem and not many people were there. And now I know why… it was just ok. I had the brisket quesadillas which I was disappointed in… especially since the ones at Mia’s are so amazing. The service could have been better as well. My friends didn’t get what they ordered exactly in regards to Xing onions/no quac… etc. The staff is friendly but nothing special. With all the great tex-mex places around, I will go elsewhere next time.

I didn’t have very high expectations for Casa Blanca but was pleasantly surprised by this relative newcomer. The staff was friendly from the time we walked in until we left. Prices are reasonable and the food was good. The complementary noodle soup with a seafood base was unusual and tasty but left me unsatisfied as I immediately started craving the Sopa de Mariscos from La Calle Doce. While the salsa was different than most and had good chili or adobo flavor, it was a little thin and mild for my taste. Not even so much as a hint of onion in this stuff. The margaritas were good and fairly strong. A little on the tart side but I tend to like em that way. My chicken tacos with ranchero sauce were good. The sauce had a kick and the chicken was juicy. Got one bite of a brisket taco and was thoroughly impressed. All in all… Not having to wait, good food and good prices makes it A-OK to me. Having just got a taste of the brisket tacos, I will probably give Casa Blanca another try. Whose knows it might even end up in the rotation.

Casa Blanca is your typical Mom and Pop Mexican restaurant. It is not a five star restaurant nor does it try to be. That being said, the food is served hot and fast by a very friendly staff. Upon ordering, you are served a simple, complementary soup of pasta shells and chicken broth(a nice touch!). The prices are cheep and the food is fresh and hot. They have a great brunch menu that includes bottomless mimosas on Sunday($ 10)…and you don’t have to beg them to refill your glass ;-) The brisket tacos are AWESOME and so are the Brisket Chile Rellenos. For a comparison, think Mia’s(but with better décor… you don’t feel like you are eating dinner in your grandma’s house).
