Caliber Home Loans

This is the worst mortgage company to try to deal with. They have the worst customer service! I have excellent credit and have never missed a payment. They cannot locate my payments since february when they have clearly misplaced the funds. Some idiot «Sam» informed me to call back next week after I receive the late payment penalty. I will definitely think twice and check reviews before buying or refinancing!

Terrible to customers. Combative, unhelpful employees int eh tax office and customer service office. No one returns calls. No one resolves disputed issues.

I guess I’m not surprised to see all of the negative reviews of this loan servicer. The comments about the website being down all the time and the ineptness are the same as my experience. I want to think I’m unreasonable and have too high of expectations, but it’s appears I’m not alone. Every other website in the world seems to be able to process same-​day transactions, but for some reason, for something as important as my MORTGAGE, Caliber seems to be in a technology time-​warp that requires business days of processing time to receive my money. I too did not *choose* Caliber — they apparently chose me. And I’m kinda stuck because my APR is advantageously low. Trust me, I’ve looked to refinance. Multiple times. I can only hope their CEO Joe Anderson (
) figures out how to log into the internets and realizes the lone stars are not a tribute to his Texas headquarters.

I didn’t even *choose* to be a customer of these crooks — they bought my loan, so suddenly I have to deal with them. As everyone else can attest, they are awful. My experience:
Their website is a horror to deal with. It’s down all the time. I couldn’t make a payment through their site, so I try to call them. The touchtone system starts trying to sell me stuff and tells me to have my credit-​card ready for all sorts of «exciting offers». When I decline, the system hangs up on me. Then, when I call back, it asks all sorts of prying questions… and then tells me they will «unblock» my number, and to call back in 12 hours.
It is now my goal to refinance with a different lender. I’m sure this is exactly what Caliber wants. It’s a game I didn’t even know I was playing… and I lost.

Caliber is the worst Home loan company I have even dealt with. We purchased a new home and put down 66% leaving a very small amount to be financed. We were told with our high credit scores of 810 and 794 that this was going to be a «breeze, no problem, no worries.» We were assured that the loan was progressing and on schedule but 10 days prior to closing everything fell apart. We did not have a back up plan because we were promised that this was no big deal. We had more problems, starting with multiple requests for tax information, bank statements, all stock account information and not once, not twice but three times this was provided and they continued to lose the information. I would never, never recommend Caliber to anyone, not even my worst enemy. Caliber promises the moon but delivers squat. Don’t go with this company, you could lose your future house and all for nothing.

We were in escrow, with Caliber Home Loans as our bank. They lead us to believe we would have a loan. We paid them 150 for the paperwork stating such. Their ineptitude lead to them asking for the same paperwork over and over again, to the point we had to ask for 3 extensions in escrow. Eventually Caliber stopped returning our phone calls in which we repeatedly asked for answers.
Eventually seller threatened to kick us out of escrow, and we would loose our deposit. We were then forced to take a hard money loan. This hard money loan cost us $ 17,000 in extra costs.
Suffice it to say, we are absolutely livid with this company.

Not at all concerned about you, what your going thru or who you are. Worst customer services ever, and i have had several mortgage companies in my life. I have had companies where even if you are just a number you get simple human respect… not here. I think they might hire the bottom of the barrel to save money, its scary to think they have all of our info.

I want to WARN any borrow of this company before they end up stuck with them for 30 years. This is the WORST lender I have ever had. RUNNNNNNNNNN!!!
Aside from the usual not able to get through the automated system because it hangs up on you 90% of the time, if you actually are LUCKY enough to speak with a «customer service» agent they will treat you like a piece of trash. Pretty ridiculous considering the last time I called in was because the website was down and I was trying to pay my MORTGAGE early!!! I actually had to email a screenshot that I took showing the website was down to a supervisor before she would waive the fee of making a payment. So nice to have my integrity questioned, another great showing of customer service! Never mind that it took me over 3 hours to make a phone payment that day…
In all seriousness, I have had HUGE issues with this lender that go beyond terrible customer service. They let my insurance lapse. I called multiple times to ensure it would get paid because its impounded. And I finally get a notice that it lapsed. So I pay it myself. I would have paid it to ensure it didn’t lapse but Caliber assured me «it was taken care of.» What a joke. By the time they sent the check to the right insurance company it was over 3 months late.
And one of the biggest issues I have had with them is making payments. I WANT to make my payments. I WANT it to come out automatically. Sounds like a business owners dream come true right? A customer that wants to give you access to their account to ensure that you receive the monthly payments. Nope, Caliber would like for your life to be as hellish as possible. After 1 year of trying to set up auto pay, and them only telling me what they «can’t» do, I finally enroll. With Caliber F– track record I decide to set up a separate checking account just for my mortgage payments. When you set it up online it requires you to make your monthly payment to enroll, which I do. I also had a supervisor on the line the entire time to make sure it was done correctly. And guess what, they take out a duplicate payment for the month of September. And I can honestly say I am not the least bit surprised.

Customer service is the absolute worst. It is near impossible to talk with them via the phone or email.
