I am hooked! BG is now called 31 Bar & Grill(check them out on Facebook). You can enter either from the outdoor entrance next to the mall entrance or just walk into the mall and there you are. It’s small, dark, and laid back. We went just in time right before they were about to host an event so it was quiet. The selections of the day included pork chop, wings, tenders, or chicken sandwich. My friend goes there pretty often and said the pork chop was the way to go. She was sooooo right! I’m not a big pork chop eater so if I loved it, pork lovers will surely adore it. They serve it grilled or fried with the best fries ever, the best hot sauce, and ketchup. The drinks are good too and had us feeling just right lol. They have a nice corner section for parties and a dance floor. The music Playlist is so nice and they have the videos playing along. I will surely go on a Friday when they really get busy.

Ok, please get over your bourgsie self and overlook the fact that this gem is tucked inside of the hood rat extravaganza that is Red Bird(Southwest Center) Mall. It has its own entrance so you don’t have to actually go inside of the mall(although you will miss out on some fabulous people watching by bypassing the mall entrance). Just prepare yourself for a «mature & classy» experience that I’m certain you will enjoy. I came here for the $ 15 buffet on Saturday and found an impressive soul food presentation featuring fried chicken, pork chops, collard greens, yams, cobblers, and countless other goodies. All of the items were regularly replenished so no worries about missing out on any of your faves. And the best part is that they have a live r&b band performing while you dine. Very similar to the now closed Harwood 609. On my visit, the crowd was primarily«mature»(fabulous 40’s, fierce 50’s and sassy 60’s) but that’s the kind of crowd I prefer(I have an «old soul»). So, although it’s a club/bar/lounge, there is zero«thugishness“or «ratchetness» among patrons of this establishment. I definitely recommend visiting this place if you find yourself in Oak Cliff with a hankering for soul food in an upscale setting. And while I’m a huge opponent of clubs located in shopping malls(a la Shark Bar at Stonebriar), I’m all for anything nice occupying & reviving the Oak Cliff landmark, Red Bird Mall.
