Bailey’s Uptown Inn

This place is perfect for a simplistic getaway, which is exactly what my husband and I came here for!
The house itself is decorated like any generational southern family home, and makes you feel instantly welcomed. I fell in love with the window beds in the downstairs common room, and the kitchen is full of amenities that guests may use — as long as you bring your own food!
Each room is named for the decorations and accents inside, and each have superbly comfortable beds and windows that offer wonderful natural lighting. We stayed in the Blue Room. The jacuzzi tub rocks! Wish it were big enough for two, considering it is the usual «honeymoon» room.
It is within perfect walking distance of many uptown clubs and fine dining!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary getaway at Bailey’s! Our stay was relaxed and romantic. We stayed in the Blue Room, walked to our dinner reservation at Avanti’s and enjoyed a full breakfast on Sunday morning with another couple. Although we live in North DFW, Bailey’s allowed us to enjoy Uptown and focus on each other. Andrea is devoted to customer satisfaction and went out of her way to ensure that we will return soon! If you’re considering a B&B in DFW make sure you consider Bailey’s!

What a majestic place to stay! A minute’s walk from bars and restaurants! The owners want your stay to be as wonderful as you do! They go above and beyond to make it perfect! Close, intimate and clean! I loved the fact that every room was furnished in antiques, it was absolutely amazing! It’s worth every penny! Talk about an experience! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

I stayed here for 3 nights while on business travel during a major medical meeting happening at the Dallas Convention Center. In short, Bailey’s is a lovely, stately B&B in a great location, as noted in other reviews. It’s within walking distance of several eateries and bars, and some other interesting-​looking shops and other attractions. Inside, it’s immaculate – a huge plus. I do a lot of travel and this is definitely not always the case. So, big thumbs up there. And it’s really nicely appointed throughout – gleaming hard wood floors, stylish furniture and an elegant feel. The bed was decent and clean. And if I were needing a car port, that would have been fantastic, too, as a means of avoiding having to park on the streets or elsewhere. The free Wi-​Fi is a nice bonus, too.
Where Baily’s really need to do some work, though, is in the area of projecting a personally welcoming tone. Without going into the blow-​by-​blow, I will only say that I felt something akin to hostility when I arrived and the owner let me into the building (I did not have my key code handy), only to tell me very curtly that I had no reservation for that night. I politely insisted that, in fact, I did have one, and cited the conversation I’d had with her only two days prior. Then, without a word, she exited the building and disappeared, leaving me standing in the foyer area unsure of what to do. In about 5 minutes she came back and announced that I could stay in the Black and White room, and that, indeed, I did have a reservation. There was no apology or courteous «fuss» made; she pointed to a basket holding two bottles of warm water and my room key, asked me to sign a credit card payment slip, and sternly directed me to my room. She never introduced herself, did not name any area points of interest, or ask anything about my needs or intentions. Off-​putting, indeed. A friend I made while staying at Bailey’s had a similar experience, only he was not as lucky. He was turned away for his first night, and had to find accommodation elsewhere, late at night, after being told it was his «fault» for the mix-​up. Again, no apology or personal caring on display. We both wondered where the other inn keeper might be. The fact that she never appeared at any point was, well, a bit unusual for a B&B. We both felt like the owner viewed us as bothersome chores who were interrupting her busy life.
My advice for anyone thinking of staying at Bailey’s is this – go for it, for all the reasons named above and elsewhere. It’s a very good value. But DO get your reservation confirmation in writing, and remember your key code number. If you forget it, it will be a hassle to reach one or the other of the ephemeral owners, who apparently live in some other, unknown, location. Don’t expect any hospitality; you are on your own in that department. Enjoy!

Last year we held our manager’s meeting in Dallas. I was looking for a B & B where all 5 of our managers could stay in and have some time to brain-​storm, getting to know each other better after a full day of meetings. Bailey’s was the perfect place! Warm, cozy and comfortable. Great breakfast each morning too! I highly recommend them!

Boyfriend decided to surprise me for my birthday weekend and book a room here to serve as the epicenter of our weekend. We stayed in the Blue Room, which earned it’s name for obvious reasons.
There are several positives I would like to point out:
–Great location, central to Uptown and Deep Ellum. Anything you could possibly desire is just minutes away.
–Parking in an open garage attached to the Inn. Parking can be extremely tricky in Uptown, so having permanent parking for the weekend saved a lot of stress and bickering.
–24 hour access. Once your reservation arrives, you are provided with a key code to enter the front door any time day or night during your stay.
–Most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in.
–Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, as well as a standing shower.
–24 hour kitchen (cook for yourself) and a Keurig to support my coffee/​tea needs.
–Adorable photo of a dog on our fireplace; I’m an animal lover and this just made my heart melt.
–Very nice hair dryer, which was even more awesome because I left mine at home!
As nice as the positives were, there were some negatives as well:
–No key for our room. When we left, we would just have to leave the door unlocked. I am a worrier, so I had a sense of worry about my belongings the entire time. I had nice jewelry, expensive makeup, electronics, and expensive clothes with me. I really didn’t like my being able to lock my room.
–I may just be spoiled by hotels, but there wasn’t any body wash in the bathroom. There were two Sacajawea-​sized bar soaps, but they were extremely drying.
–One tiny shampoo and one tiny conditioner for 2 adults.
–Crazy kids were staying in the Inn at the same time we were. 2 of the kids just came walking into our room while I was unpacking. I had to tell them to leave. The kids were very loud on Sunday morning. I’m still confused as to why there were children at a bed & breakfast.
The kids and their actions are not the Inn’s fault, but they did contribute to my overall experience. It is a beautiful Inn and the beds are comfortable; I’m hoping we can give this place another shot in the future. Just remember to pack some soap/​shampoo to make your bathroom experience even better. Hopefully there won’t be crazy kids on our next visit.

I’ll start by saying that there is a lot to like about this place. The location is perfect if you want to walk to the uptown bars and shops or if you just like the «feel» of being in the middle of your own private city. The rooms are nicely appointed and they are clean.
However, I will probably never stay here again. Why, you ask? The B&B lacked personality and the personal touch. I never saw the owners the entire time I was there. At check in, I got a basket with a pre-​printed note with my misspelled name on top and two bottles of water. The hotel could have spent $ 10 to make me a loyal customer. For example: cookies or snacks would have been nice in the afternoon, complimentary coffee and a newspaper in the morning or even a chocolate turndown. Most full-​service Marriott hotels offer this personal touch and from a B&B you expect more. For $ 190, my rate did not include breakfast. For $ 25 more, I could have added it… But they only serve breakfast at 9:30 AM. That was too late for my early travels.
I also had a small issue with my room. Because the owners are not on-​site, you have to call their personal cell in order to get them to fix issues. My issue was not immediately fixed and I had to call the phone several times to get someone to answer.
Overall: cute B&B… Just needs more love from the owners. For the price, you are better off staying at a full-​service hotel. More privacy, more attention and a better stay.

Late review. Was here mid March 2013. Great room. Great location. Trolley, restaurants all within 5 minute walk!

If you plan to stay in Dallas, stay here. Period.
So many good things to say. But, here a are a few. Location. Center of Uptown, by the trolley, by Central Expressway, by resturants in walking distance. Ambience. We stayed during Chistmas, and it snowed. It’s so nice to have a lovely home-​like atmosphere, including working fireplaces. Traditional B&B amenities. We stayed in the Red Room, a well appointed room with cozy quilts, we visited with our friendly host in Andrea, and we had full access to the kitchen. Parking. Limited parking, but any parking in Uptown is rare.
Bailey’s is not serving breakfast on the weekdays, and the rate is slightly reduced. We found very nice resturants in walking distance.

Planned a one night «staycation» for my husband and I. Tickets to musical and a night at Bailey’s Uptown Inn. Normally my husband is frugal when staying away from home and against spending money at a place to stay in our own city.
What a surprise (shock!) when he called me after checking in and could not stop talking about how nice the Inn was, loved the location and the room was just beautiful. He even said we need to do this again.
He was greeted with chilled white wine and assorted chocolates once he checked in. Received a brochure about the free wi-​fi and how to use the TV. He then went out to the balcony to enjoy the mid week luxury his (wonderful) wife planned for him.
After work I joined him and was equally impressed with the whole experience.
We were able to see each of the six rooms and would have been thrilled in any of them. The Green Room, where we stayed, was the largest room and newly remodeled.
We are first year empty nesters. I highly recommend this experience regardless of the status with your significant other. Or a fun fun sisters treat.

I had a wonderful stay at Bailey’s Uptown Inn.
Normally I’m not a huge fan of bed and breakfasts as they can be a little too intimate and precious for me. This one felt like a nice balance between being a comfortable and warm environment, but without your having to make friends with strangers if you don’t want to. The breakfast is optional, so if you like privacy you don’t need to socialize with anyone during your stay.
Bailey’s was built as a bed and breakfast so the rooms are huge and comfortable with their own baths, and the building is new. At the same time, there are hardwood floors and exposed beams and traditional-​style furniture. My bed was comfortable, the room and bath were impeccably clean, the décor, especially the textiles are beautiful, the light is good.
The breakfast was also very good, and they will accomodate vegetarians. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood, so there are equally delicious options if you prefer the privacy.
If you are in Dallas for business, consider a bed and breakfast instead of an impersonal hotel, and consider this neighborhood instead of downtown. Uptown is much warmer, with tree-​lined streets, free trolly for transportation, nice restaurants and cafes, and lots of people in the streets. So much better than cold deserted downtown with its chain steakhouses and inhuman-​scale concrete architecture.

If you are visiting and want to stay in the Uptown neighborhood (or you have guests coming into town who need a place to stay), Bailey’s Uptown Inn is the place to be!
It’s about a block down from Avanti’s restaurant, on Worthington. Walking distance to the Hard Rock Café, the Uptown Starbucks, Tin Star, and the Ginger Man, (or name your favorite Uptown spot).
Unlike «old lady style» bed and breakfasts, every room in this place has its own separate bathroom, so no sharing needed. And there’s Direct TV, and free high speed Internet access for your laptop.
It’s also a much better deal than all those extremely expensive hotels in the neighborhood, like Zaza, but still very nice.
