Aunt Stelle’s Sno-Cones

Let me just say the snocones are great and the cone is more like snow than it is ice and I think that makes a big difference. Good list of flavor a which I have a photo of and they are fairly priced. I wished they had a specific place to park other than the street. I also they wish they had any seating outside, there’s a small bench but no tables or anything. Anyway I loved it and I will be back.

Old faithful still kicking. I’ve been coming here since before i couldn’t see over the counter. she never disappoints. If you come at the perfect hour. You won’t have to stand in a line.

GREAT shaved ice! Sour apple is amazing. The only thing I didn’t like is the lack of parking — it is in a neighborhood so you have to park in front of (if not busy) or down the street in front of someone’s house.

This place makes me HAPPY My grandmother used to take us when we were kids. I remember the long wait in line and the pure satisfaction when I received the frigid treat in my hot, sweaty hands. Pure bliss! Nothing has changed much in 40 some-​odd years. It’s still PERFECT. See you soon Aunt Stelles! Four generations and still going strong

This place is an Oak Cliff classic! I have been frequenting this place for years until I moved to Arlington. I was so excited to share my favorite snow cone with my hubby tonight.
So if you haven’t been here, you must try it. Literally the best snow cone that you will ever eat in your life! There is usually a line (that means it’s good) and they are only open in the Summer… Be prepared to sweat a little. It’s worth the wait though. They are also cash only, so stop by the ATM before you get there.
The same folks have been working there for years. It reminds me of the Soup Nazi (if you are a Senfield fan, you get what I’m saying). You go to the door, state your size and flavor, pay and get the heck out of the way. No time for chit chat! The owners are very nice though, so don’t take my reference wrong. They are just very busy!
I have been told that the snow cones taste so amazing because they mix sugar with the water to make the huge blocks of ice. That would make sense because the ice is sweet even before they add the syrup. Believe me when I tell you that it makes a world of difference! I have tried most of the flavors there. My favorite has always been beatle — it tastes like a grape sweet tart. I also love piña colada but only when they mix the coconut and pineapple together rather than adding the «piña colada» syrup.
Prices have always been the same for the 10+ years that I have gone there. You can get the biggest snow cone for $ 3.50. I always go for medium at $ 3, and I can never finish it. All that sweet goodness gives me a tummy ache. So, if you are around Oak Cliff (and even if you aren’t), stop by here. I have NEVER been disappointed.

Pretty good! If you have time to wait in the long line it’s actually worth the wait. What makes a snow cone is the ice! They have definitely mastered the art of the shaved ice here. It was a group of us so we all tried different flavor and everyone was pleased.

Simply the best! Get peach & pink lady= peaches n cream! Old fashioned sno cone place & bring cash. Give em a tip! :-)

One of Oak Cliffs MANY hidden gems. This place has been around since the 60s. I got an orange dreamsicle sno cone (half orange, half pink lady) The ice was soooooo soft! And they aren’t stingy on the syrup either! The service was friendly as family-​run establishments usually are. Only a few things take away from an otherwise SUPERB rating… the fact that it’s only open on weekends, only accepts cash (so be prepared), and the parking is all street parking. Not city street… but neighborhood street. So you’ll basically be parking in front of someone’s house. Also, expect a line… like ALWAYS but it’s worth the wait on a summer day!

Have been going here since I was little. I don’t go as often as I’d like now that I live in Plano. A great Saturday is going downtown to the Farmer’s Market then over to Oak Cliff for Dude Sweet Chocolate, some El Ranchito and then Aunt Stelle’s. Half the time I get the Pink Lady. The snow is shaved perfectly. It doesn’t melt too quickly, even on a hot day. Seating is benches around the base of a tree (not very shady, though). Looking at the line when you arrive is a bit unnerving but it goes quickly. I consider this the best snow cone place I’ve ever eaten at and a Dallas institution. A nice treat for the kiddos after a day at the zoo, too.

Overrated… for sure. I prob would of given it 2 stars but due to the lack of places around it gets a 3.
While Dallas has some incredible restaurants, its really lacking in the shaved ice sno cone dept when compared to ATX.
We stood in line for 20 minutes yesterday to receive a just ok sno cone. While the ice was good, the lack of enough syrup to sink all the way down to the ice is just an epic fail.
My wife tried the whole famous Pink Lady flavor. or should I say flavorless.
Skip this place, skip the line and go to SNO off of 75. Way better. I get that this place is an Oak Cliff landmark and what not, hey maybe they used to be good but some good things must come to an end. I definitely wont go back unless Im in the area and there isnt a line.

WOW! This is one Aunt that knows her Cones! The story begins with lunch at Lockhart in Bishop Arts and ending at Aunt Stelle’s. Just a hop skip and jump away from all the usual eateries in the area.
Stelle’s crib is not much to look at but her Cones will knock your socks off. No joke, I saw some old socks. There was a line and that’s usual for all great places. The line moved fast and I was quickly able to order a large strawberry Cone. The best $ 3.50 I ever spent on a Saturday afternoon. First spoon knocked my flip flops off and the second took me back to my childhood. I can’t tell you what the third spoon did to me. The feelings were too XXX rated to voice, and Unilocal wouldn’t be happy with me.
Go try it people!

There is always a line but it’s worth the wait.

This review is way past due. After hearing all the hype, I’ve ventured on to this place with some co-​workers that live in the area and swear by it. As soon as we got there, there was already a small line formed so I’m thinking, «must be worth the hype right?» Well, I got to front and ordered a mixture of strawberry and coconut for my «sno-​cone». I’m from Louisiana and we usually call it sno-​balls. To those saying the texture is soft like snow? not even close… the texture is more on the coarse side and closer to ice than snow. Flavor was okay and wasn’t anything mind blowing so it was something like I’ve tried before. This place may be a «landmark» to some people, but it’s surely overrated.

haha. I love the reviewer on here that calls this place a snow cone dive! Like really, as opposed to all those palatial elegant snow cone places.
But I getwhat she’s driving at and she’s right. It’s a little sketch in the neighborhood but the snow cones are so sweet, so crunchy that you will find yourself asking, «hey isn’t it time to go hit our favorite snow cone dive?»
Try it, you’ll like it.

Bebe. You have not had a sno cone until you’ve had Aunt Stelle’s! It’s the best and everyone knows it! Perfectly shaved ice that melts in your mouth with just the right amount of juice. I love the menu which is super super simple and has only about 25 flavors. You know you hate the places that have like 100 flavors with ridiculous names for the flavors you have to always ask «Ok well what does that one taste like?»
Be prepared to stand in that line for a while. Especially mid-​day in 100+ weather. I told you everyone knows it’s the best!

I grew up on Aunt Stelle’s snow cones. Always the same snow cone, too: jumbo strawberry, extra syrup. I also grew up in the neighborhood and know the Williams family. Freda and her husband currently head up the business. I’ve told her that I will work for free if she ever wants to open a stand at the State Fair just so she can show everybody the definition of world class and what Oak Cliff can do.
Freda’s father, Leon Williams, built the snow machine and held patents at one time. The syrup is home made from recipes. If memory serves me right, Mr Williams was a CPA and wanted to do something as a sideline when he opened the stand. His wife, Estelle, the namesake for the business, partnered with him and they lovingly served everybody that made it to their window. That love is passed on to customers today by Freda and her husband. Daughter Destiny is a physicist and may not have time for the family business. Hopefully Freda will keep the stand running for years to come and eventually Destiny will change her mind.
I moved to the burbs years ago, but I get to the stand as much as possible. No matter how much I talk the place up to friends, I’ve yet to have one tell me that it isn’t the best snow cone they’ve ever had. These are folks from all over Texas.
Aunt Stelle’s and SRV… the two best things to ever come out of Dallas.

Total walk-​up sno-​cone dive. But, they have the best sno-​cones I’ve ever had. Period. Be prepared to wait though, this place always has a line. Always.
The ice is really the perfect ice for sno-​cones, which is what determines if your sno-​cone is good (or not good). I also like mine syrupy, so I try to sweet talk the women at the counter for some extra syrup (it works about 75% of the time).
It’s cash only. I’ve literally gone with fistfuls of change.
Cherry lime is the bomb!

It pains me to say this because I live in Oak Cliff an this place is a landmark, but they are very overrated. The people are sweet, and they do have some of the best ice (it’s almost like snow) but they are a bit skimpy on the syrup and after a minute I’m left with a white sno cone with the little bit of flavor sunken to the bottom. I feel like they’ve slowly gone downhill over the years, and because of the price it is unacceptable.
TC’s sno cones on Garland road has equally good ice (if not better) and they pack them full of flavor. They are my new favorite.
So here’s to hoping Aunt Stelle’s get’s her groove back. I will still go because they are close, but my confidence is waning.

Ah Oak Cliff, you are amazing. I heart you.

–Hrs 2pm-​9pm Thursday-​Sunday.
–If you’re not in line at 9pm… you get no love. They send someone out to stand at the end of the line. Once the light turns off on their sign, so sorry.

–The owners live two doors down and have been in business for 42 years! FO REALZ!
Snow cones places are so few now-​a-​days. Bring the kiddies, old and young. Enjoy! Try the Pink Lady (vanilla ice cream flavor) and Root beer… ROOT BEER FLOAT! Mmmmm…
