I am really sad about Al’s Formal Wear, at least at this location in North park Mall. My mom and I spent the whole afternoon at the store to choose mine and my groomsman’s wedding tux color. We were excited because they were able to match the dress color’s the the bridesmaid’s dresses. The day before my wedding I found out that all the work we had done to match the colors was completely in vain because the man who helped us never imputed the information correctly into the computer. Instead of each of my 8 wedding party men having a specific attire, the man said we were all the same in gold. Can you imagine how terrible it is to have such a change in the colors the day before the wedding? Let me just tell you that there are plenty of other things that one needs to think about, and this terrible mistake is not one of them. Not only was the information imputed wrong, the man who we worked with us was actually there when we realized the mistake. He claimed that we never told him the correct information. It was not until I showed him a picture of our color swatches on the table we were standing at right then was he convinced that actually he was the one who had made the mistake months earlier. I am really lucky that I took a picture of these swatches because otherwise he was refusing to help make his mistake right. They then proceeded to say that they were sorry for that, but that will not help things at all. I have no choice but to talk to them in a strick and strong tone. Finally they saw to it that the right color would ship to them the next morning(my wedding day), and so I had to drive another hour to get it for their mistakes. I am completely disgusted with their service. My last complaint is about the price. We had a coupon that said if we rented 6 tux’s then we would get one free. After all the men rented their suites, they still charged me for my suit. I had to talk with them again about this problem once the color problem was taken care of and the best they did was take $ 80 off my rental. They still made me pay $ 40 and said it was a fee to measure me. I think they are dishonest businessmen and do not recommend this company to anyone.

I’m really sad to read the first review for these guys because my husband and I were fortunate enough to have a great experience at this Al’s Formal Wear. We had the sweetest older man helping us who was the only person working and he had my husband and I(who had an appt) and several walk-ins all at the same time. He definitely did his best to pay attention to everyone and my husband and I spent a long time looking through the books of tuxes before we found ones he liked for himself, and the ones for the groomsmen. We really liked the convenience of our wedding party being able to get the tuxes at their local Al’s instead of just the store we went to. Only downside is they are very strict on their return policy and anyone who has gotten married knows how chaotic that time is, and how difficult it is to organize a tux return! My number one suggestion for these guys is to catch an Al’s salesman at a bridal fair because they will give you really great deals that you can’t get in the store!

While I believe it was an isolated incident and I have already formally complained to this store and was told the incident has been addressed by a manager now, my husband recently went here to rent a tux for a friends wedding. He went with another groomsman for the wedding and when they were both paying, he realized his rental was more than his friends and when he inquired as to why — was told to consider the extra a «fat tax». While my husband is bigger and I do understand that a 2X shirt costs more than a 1X, the way the employee handled this was unacceptable. I have given them 1 star now because a district manager has addressed the situation and put the complaint in the employees file, but I still think they should rectify it with us even further, but at least it didn’t fall on totally deaf ears.
