Aloha Hawaiian Barbecue

Randomly found this place near the airport while trying to waste some time before my flight. First off, they have a Hawaiian radio station playing in the restaurant, which gave the place a really chill vibe. Never would’ve guessed there was Hawaiian remix of Hello by Adele…
The food was good too. I tried the BBQ mix which included chicken, beef, and ribs along with 2 scoops of rice and macaroni salad. It was a really good amount of food for about $ 8. The meat all had the same sweet and salty glaze, and tasted a lot like Korean BBQ. Only complaint was the ribs because it was kinda chewy and required some yanking and extra chewing. I’d definitely visit again if I’m in the area.

If you guys are craving Hawaiian food this is the place you need to go to! They give you tons of food, 5% off for check ins, and fast service.
I went here after traveling all day and I was so happy to hear they are open till 9. I was so hungry so I ordered my 2 appetizers and a meal.
For my appetizers I got the lupias (eggrolls) and the spam sushi, and i would definitely recommend both appetizers! The spam is something quite unique, and the eggrolls were so crispy and flavorful.
And then finally for my main meal I got the Hawaiian short ribs meal. I was not a fan of the macaroni salad that came with the meal, but everything else was great! The ribs had a little bit of too much fat on them, but that’s the best part right?
Overall I would definitely come back here again and j would recommend this place, the food is cheap and the portions are awesome!

We checked in because they said they would give us a 5% discount. After we got our receipt the guy said oh I forgot I’ll do it next time. The food was very bland my wife and I had to use a whole lot of sarachi sauce on it to get it some flavor. The macaroni salad was had too much salt we couldn’t eat it. I was really disappointed, we’re never going back and I don’t recommend.

«Would love to come back and try more of the menu» is what I wrote in a review draft after my visit a week ago, and before I even got around to finishing the review I failed that goal. I stopped by again less than a week later and ordered the exact same thing: the spam musubi. It’s a guilty pleasure snack if ever there was one. If you come from a typical American upbringing, you’re likely to have a natural judgy reaction to canned meats, but get off your high horse and try it. It’s so simple that it’s hard to just rave about how amazing it is, but it really is scrumptious. I seriously would love to come back and try more of the menu.
But enough about spam musubi… The ambiance is a little lacking (but only if your snooty). It’s very strip mall, with a TV flickering in and out, scratched up tables that have seen better days, and styrofoam subbed for plates even if you’re dining in. It’s not exactly an anniversary date night type of place. It’s extremely cheap guilty pleasure food, though, so I am more than OK with «hole-​in-​the-​wall».

This place looks a little suspect from the outside, but it is so good! My boyfriend and I were hungry and in the area, so we turned to Unilocal to help us find a place to eat. This place came up, and it was a done deal.
It is located in a small strip mall between Whataburger and a Vape shop. The interior has a lot of wood in it. It’s pretty basic and no frills. A good casual spot I guess.
Now let’s talk about the menu. I got the bbq chicken and he got the spice bbq chicken. We had to wait a few minutes because they make everything fresh, but it was well worth the wait! The chicken was so good and flavorful. They have a good selection of sauces, but to be honest, It was delicious without them. It came on a bed of cabbage with rice and macaroni salad. There was a lot of food for the price. it looks like they have good lunch specials as well.
Now I want to go back, and try something else on the menu. Don’t let the exterior and the Styrofoam deter you!

The Hawaiian food was disappointing. I must be used to eating at L&L BBQ. I will probably not eat here again.

Quick service for a casual meal! Love their marinate sauce and serving size!
FOOD: I had the BBQ pork combo ($ 7), which came with a scope of macaroni salad and two scopes of very chewy and glutinous rice. I really liked how they marinated the pork, although the meat was kind of hard to bite into. The rice was also very moist and chewy, and tasted great with the meat. The portion was also huge — enough for two servings. My brother tried their BBQ chicken combo, which also tasted great!
PRICE: With tax (and 5% off if you check-​in on Facebook), the total was a little more than $ 7, which is a great price.
SERVICE: You order up front and the server will bring your food to your table, which comes in a styrofoam box.
SETTING: There are only a few tables inside, but I like cozy the place is.
OVERALL IMPRESSION: Great comfort food! Pretty chill place for a casual, quick lunch. Will come back again!

I have never try Hawaiian Barbecue in my life before. But my bro Pete Skeet say I need to give it a shot. So I did, well turns out it was good recommendation from Pete Skeet, thank you. So I went there during lunch and they have a lunch special that’s only 5.99 or 6.99 and it come with pork, beef, rice, and macaroni salad. One big difference between Hawaiian Barbecue and Traditional Barbecue is that Hawaiian have a sweet twist that’s just make it better not as moist as the traditional, but both of them are good. So Aloha you have make it to my lunch spot list. Definitely coming back again if I’m craving for BBQ.

Solid three stars for just okay food, cheesy vibe, and friendly staff.
Ordered:
— loco moco $ 7.99 — two beef patties drenched in sauce/​gravy, fried egg on top, white rice, and pasta salad (?)
— chicken katsu and pulled pork combo $ 8.99 — with steamed cabbage, rice, and pasta salad (?)
Except for the chicken katsu, everything else was just so-​so. Not very appetizing in terms of food/​colors and the flavors are lacking. They provide lots of sauces… maybe to accommodate for the main flavors.

Was looking for BBQ and came across this cute little place. I love everything Hawaiian so this place was a must!
The cute little place had Hawaiian music playing and it felt like Hawaii inside.
Ordered the Hawaiian BBQ short ribs and got a pineapple orange to drink. Sooooooo good like it came from yummy BBQ in Hawaii.
I wish they had a place like this in NY.

Really, I wouldn’t mind coming back here — but for the meats.
Everything else was kind of mediocre, even if it may be authentically Hawaiian. Mediocre thick lumps (did not try the banana lumpias). Mediocre musubi would be better served with eggs because of the rice — I went with the Portuguese sausage, but it looks like spam — and was told that it’s not spam. I’m not sure if there is a discernible difference in taste between the Portuguese sausage and spam, but maybe the PS is slightly spicier, in a subtle way. Therefore, I probably wouldn’t do musubi at all. Unless it’s with eggs. For breakfast.
But… The BBQ is great. And the three sauces they have that is dispensed through the coffee dispensers are good — for specific meats, if you asked me. For the lumpias, the sweet and sour sauce was great — but not for anything else. BBQ beef works with the Katsu sauce — and is the only meat that I thought needed a sauce due to it being thinly cut. The other meats didn’t really need any sauces — but if you want it, go for it — the Aloha BBQ sauce and the Katsu sauce works well with any of them, depending on your taste buds.
But yeah, I’d be back — the protein combo ($ 8.99) seems to be the way to go.

I’ve never tried Hawaiian BBQ before so I can’t tell you if this is authentic but I can say that their food is super delicious and reasonably priced.
When you walk in yourorder and pay at the counter, then the server will bring your food to you when it comes out. I wanted to try a variety of their meat so I ordered the Haiwaiian BBQ mix which came with chicken, bbq beef, and beef short ribs. Their meats were very flavor full and their macaroni salad was bomb. I ordered a side of tonkatsu and it was super crunchy in a good way.
They have a 4 sauces to try next to the soda fountain and my favorite was the katsu sauce. I will definitely be back, great food at a decent price.

For the price, this place is pretty awesome.
My bf and I came here after looking at some cars around dinnertime. It has a bit of a hole in the wall, cafeteria kind of vibe, especially with the take out trays they serve the food in.
I got the BBQ mix and the short ribs and chicken were really good. The beef was a little tough and dry though and I couldn’t finish it which is why it’s 3 stars instead of 4. I have no idea how authentic it is, but they did have spam musubi on the menu so that’s pretty neat. :D
Service was very nice and quick. After I was given the food, someone came to check if I liked the food which I did not expect because of the way the restaurant looks. Just goes to show, don’t judge a book by its cover. Or something.

Whenever I need to eat my feelings, Hawaiian barbecue is always a great choice: a mound of juicy, fatty meats, a mound of carbohydrates, and a mound of carbs slathered with fat. That mound slathered in fat– known as mac salad– is excellent here.
Yep. That pretty much sums up a Hawaiian plate lunch, and that’s the reason why it’s so beloved. These guys do a pretty good job– not the best out there but a strong enough performance to satiate your feelings after a rough day as you sit at home with your takeout, pajama pants, Netflix shows, and boxed wine.
Lunch specials are incredibly affordable at 5.99 a pop with different combos of meats. No drink included (obv or else these guys would be broke). Lunch rush hits hard and fast, but they get orders out fairly quickly (especially if you order off the lunch list).
I wish these guys had an Aloha Friday special with more traditional favorites, like lau lau, lomi salmon, haupia, and the like. The menu here is a little on the simpler side for a Hawaiian restaurant.
Anyway, I like to get the mini meal short rib for $ 7.29 (like $ 8.11 after taxes) that comes with two short ribs, a scoop of white rice, and a scoop of mac salad. I like that the marinade is just the right amount of sweet, but they don’t quite master the tough technique of getting melt-​in-​yo-​mouth ribs as they still need to be chewed caveman-​style.
For the braddahs and sistahs that aren’t used to Hawaiian food, don’t be intimidated.
It’s all just a meat that’s either:
1. Slow cooked
2. In a sweet marinade
3. Breaded then fried.
Make sure you are in a place that affords you enough floor surface to lie prose afterwards with a pillow. Company staff meeting after this place is the worst idea ever.

Great place (I feel weird giving 5 stars to food in styrofoam) but it’s really that good. I’d never had Hawaiian food, but I’m glad I tried it out. Very low key, order at the counter, and try to find an empty seat.
Love the chicken katsu, kalua pork, bbq chicken –it’s all great and very flavorful. It can be a little salty, but I’m pretty sure that’s how it’s supposed to be. The lunch combos are a fair price, and you can substitute extra rice if macaroni salad isn’t your thing. One of the best parts is the cooked cabbage that they put below the meat — it sounds strange, but it soaks up some of the flavor and makes a nice contrast to the meal.
If your nervous about trying Hawaiian, this is a great place to try out, you really can’t make a mistake.
Atmosphere is laid back, island style, without being too cheesy. Same goes for the Hawaiian music — it’s not a lame CD, it’s live streaming radio, so you can hear about the beautiful weather, surf reports, and daydream while you eat.

Got spam musubi to share, loco moco, and my sister ordered the kalua pork. Next time, I might ask for two scoops of mac salad and one scoop of rice vs one scoop of mac and two scoops of rice. It’s that good.

I came here with a buddy that wanted to check this place out since he’s into Hawaiian food. It’s a pretty small place that’s clean… not much to look at. But, as most of the times you go to an establishment to eat… so, I put everything to the side and decided to to order my food. Well, to my disappointment,…this place isn’t Vegetarian friendly at all… there’s nothing on the menu that I could order.
Man, I came close in leaving this place… but, I didn’t want to ruin my buddy’s experience. So, I decided to take one for the team. I asked the guy taking our order if there was anything that they could for me since I couldn’t order anything from the menu due all of the dishes having meat. He simply smiled at me and started to come with different ideas of what could possibly be done for me. He asked me if I ate eggs at least, and I stated yes… so, he came with the idea of making me a two egg burger filled with grilled vegetables. I was why not… let’s try it! Man, I had never eaten an egg burger in my life but it was good. Maybe I was just plain hungry… but, the burger was well done. I couldn’t asked for a better burger from this type of establishment.
I did noticed that this place does serve hearty type servings for a cheap price and by way that the people seemed to be enjoying the food. I can see why this place fills up quickly.
FYI, my buddy loved his food! :) He stated that he was extremely happy that Dallas has this type of restaurant available for him to come to and get his fix for now on.

I loveeeee Hawaiian food. This is definitely the place to go to after a Sunday fun day full of drinking for the post binge drinking munchies. This restaurant is better than the L & L Hawaiian bbq which is located in Frisco.
I think it’s important for all the newbies to try the loco moco which is very well known classic dish in Hawaii. Basically it’s white rice with a hamburger patty and two sunny side eggs as the topping. All of this is flooded with brown gravy (you can always ask for the gravy on the side).
Now if you’re trying to be more «healthy», I would recommend getting the grilled chicken which can be substituted with extra cabbage instead of getting the macaroni salad and white rice. The chicken is sooo tender and full of flavor.
This restaurant is very affordable and one of my most favorite comfort food to go to after a bad day. Obviously, if I’m going to have a cheat meal… I’m going to do it right!
I STRONGLY recommend trying this place!

Today I tried their lunch special for $ 5.99 (kalua pork and beef) while my lunch partner had the seafood combo (8.99) as well as the Portugese sausage masubi.
I’m just still astounded at how tender and juicy all of their meats are. Even though it was crowded today around 1230, our order still came out within 15 minutes, piping hot.
Crispy fish and shrimp dipped in homemade tartar sauce with rice? Come on! And the pork is definitely something worth getting again. Beef was awesome and better than most Korean bbq restaurants. I liked the spam masubi better than the sausage one. The sausage was too thin for the amount of rice given.
Also, this time I tried the Lilikoi iced tea (passion fruit flavored) as well as the Pineapple Orange. Being a tea lover, I recommend the Lilikoi.
