I called them last minute and was so happy with their straight forward caring attitude. I felt like my car was really in good hands. I could ask them questions and didn’t get the absolutely you should do this or that. I got the well you don’t really need to do this right now. That’s honesty. Much love for these guys.

Aamco location on Inwood, this place is a total rip off and David and Rahim are total scam artists. First of all, this place is dirty, nasty, old, and you have to watch where you step in the parking lot because it was last cleaned or sandblasted in 1980. There are so many old cars parked by the door that you can’t even get in. When I picked up my car, I was actually told to come back the next day because David would not pay his staff any overtime, I arrived two minutes before closing time, and there were so many cars parked around the front door there were no staff to move them to get my car out, so I could drive it home. I had to take a cab home. Some of the cars have been there for months. I had a bad feeling about this place from the start, but was recommended by a friend that owns a Midas shop on Northwest Hwy. Don’t ever trust a recommendation from a car mechanic unless you have known them for years.
My Ford Explorer had the OD light flashing and David quoted me $ 600 – 700. It turned out to be $ 987 and my car stayed fixed for one day. I brought it back in and they tell me that the transmission needs to be rebuilt. That would cost an additional $ 1800 on top of what I had already paid. I asked them about their warranty and they told me that they would not refund my money, and Rahim was very rude. I contacted AAMCO corp office and they were of no help, whatsoever. They do not stand behind their franchisee stores, and they told me that there was nothing they could do and were even less helpful than David and Rahim. I currently have a complaint pending with the Dallas BBB, and possibly the Texas Attorney General’s office. Folks, my car stayed fixed for one day. In addition, I asked to see the parts from the transmission, and they would not provide them to me. Another mechanic looked at my car, and they think all this location did was hit a reset button in the transmission computer system.
I was born in Dallas, and have lived within 3 miles of this place for nearly my whole life. Any positive reviews on here, I have to wonder, are you on some kind of drugs? I totally agree with the negative reviews on here, and most of these same rip off shenanigans happened to me as well at this place. If I could give it minus stars I would, but could not figure out how to do that on Unilocal.To the people of Dallas, who need transmission work; avoid this place the same way you would avoid the West Nile virus or the Bubonic Plague.

I’ve been here twice in the last six months with yr old car, the last time this week. Repair was quick and thorough, customer service was friendly and accurate, and overall both times were great experiences that did not cost me the moon. In fact, both estimates/​final charges were absolutely spot-​on. Love bringing my car here.

DO NOT take your car to this place. This place is minus 4 stars. Everything you read on the bad reviews since 2010 are true. Rahim and David are the ones you’ll deal with and this is the aamco on inwood. I was referred there by a mechanic at my gas station and when I spoke with David the first time, he claimed they did the transmission work for a 5 star dealership on Lemmon and inwood. We own a car from this dealership so I thought I was in good hands but it turns out this was a big lie. When I picked up my car, I went straight to the mgmt of the dealership and they were horrified david said this. They never send their cars to aamco on inwood.
You will get a total run around with David and rahim. They had my car 11 days and charged me $ 3,000+. They never call you with updates as they promise and when you call them, «working on it, have to order hard to find part, testing it». Or they are repairing something besides the transmission that they «discovered». They do this without owner permission. I don’t think they even worked on my car until the 10^th day when they could tell I was upset. I suspect collusion with the rental car place down the street. By the 10day of this treatment, i got the advice of two other mechanics. They got to hear david call me back on my speaker phone about a part «that was hard to find, etc». David sent me a picture of the part which I showed the mechanics and they said you could easily pick it up at any car part store. I was advised to just get my car out there. I was also told I was probably overcharge by $ 1000.00 to $ 1,500.00 and that a transmission repair would only take 3 days at the most. One of the mechanics wanted to go with me to aamco b/​c he was worried not only about my car but my safety.
I picked up my car on the eleventh day. Rahim said he found two warning lights that he could check out and I said no. He told me they had just finished cleaning my car but the leather seats, doors, steering wheel were covered in dark grease marks. Rahim said he was helping another customer when I walked in his office. This «other customer» was a friend or employee putting on an act to appear to be a satisfied customer. This man had been outside when I got there and he snickered at me as I walked past him. All a big scam. Rahim wanted me to bring my car back in 10 days so he could inspect it. No way. He was also not happy that I had gotten advice from another mechanic. He texted me later in the day saying that he wanted «to do something» to make up for my bad experience. He should have adjusted the price when I picked up the car.
The 5 star dealership is going to inspect my car for free and I’m filing a claim with the BBB. I have never had such a bad experience with a business and hopefully this review will help someone else avoid this aamco on inwood and any dealings with David or rahim.

I have had David & Rahim replace transmission (rebuilt) on two of my Acura’s. I am a repeat customer; once in April of 2012 on my first Acura 3.0, and most recently in October of 2014 on my present Acura TL.
Most recently my repair bill was $ 3800! Long story short, I was not pleased with the work, felt I was being given the run around, my car was damaged and dirty (grease stains everywhere). I was not happy. Rahim was a gentleman and went above and beyond to make things right. My Acura seems to be running fine some 3 weeks after I picked it up. In the end they did what they were supposed to do.

These guys are awesome. I was looking to purchase a used vehicle and had it inspected here to ensure there weren’t any problems with the car before I purchased it. They went over the car thoroughly. They then spent a ton of time talking with me about the car and addressing ALL of the questions I had. They also talked to me about the common occurrences they find come through their shop on cars of the same brand with similar mileage which helped me in my extended warranty decisions. I was completely comfortable in my purchase decision after using these guys for my inspection needs. I highly recommend this shop to anyone needing car care services! Top notch guys!

NO STARS FOR AAMCO
DISHONEST AND INCOMPETENT
Unfortunately I am REALLY UNABLE to GIVE ANY STARS to Aamco on Inwood Road. We took our Lincoln Navigator (which has never had a problem and has been basically maintained with oil/​filter/​lube) in (April 2014) for possible transmission issues. It was suggested we needed to have our transmission rebuilt. We trusted what we were told and let them go forward with the rebuild and replacement of spark plugs which was just shy of $ 4,000.00. We were told repairs would take approx 4 days. Two weeks later the car was ready. The first day or so it was ran okay. Then the problems began: a grinding feeling, skipping, shaking, a grinding roaring sound and finally the engine light began coming on. This weekend the engine light came on and has remained on.
Since we picked the car up we have taken it back twice and were told no problems were found. At one point I had one of the guys drive with me. The issue appeared but was mild compared to what we had been experiencing. That mechanic thought what was going on was another issue that they could fix… I can’t remember what he sort number of threw out as price point for that repair. A week ago I was on the freeway 45 minutes outside Dallas my daughter kept looking at me worried about the grinding and noise the car was making, then the check engine light came on. I called aamco, David answered the phone, I explained the issues again, and my concern for this ck engine light that was on and asked if the car was safe, would it blow up… he answered by saying he needed to put me on hold because he had another customer on the phone. I could not believe this are you kidding me! He put me on hold. I waited and waited and waited and finally hung up. He knew who I was, but never called me back. Never called my husband… David made the choice to just let it go.
My husband went aamco a day or two ago. David went into a dissertation about the work they did, the warranty, how they need to check out the issues… did not want us to take the car to the dealership for a second opinion …
I am afraid for these guys to touch the car, if they do check it out I think I will pay an attorney and expert mechanic to stand by while this is being done. I trust these folks about as far as I can throw them… and I throw like a girl. I wish we had not ever made the mistake of taking our car to aamco on inwood. I think we should get our money back.
My final conclusion is this: aamco has RUINED our car. We are out close to 4,000.00. We will probably just have to get rid of the car and buy a new car.
I am more than upset and I plan to call the BBB, home office of aamco, and any regulatory entity I can find to report the unethical business practices the owner and employees of this franchise choose to participate in.
Hopefully whoever reads this as well as the other truthful reviews will steer clear of aamco on inwood.

I am always extremely well taken care of at this AAMCO location. I am so thankful for all the work they do. It is a blessing to have a great, trustworthy place to take my car in. Most importantly, I know I won’t ever get taken advantage of here and they do exceptional work.
I highly recommend this place. I trust them with my car and know I will never be overcharged.

We were heading out on a long road trip and wanted to make sure we would not have any issues once we hit the road. They guys at Aamco went over everything from head to toe and told us what could possibly be an issue. Prices were great for what needed to be replaced and we had great peace of mind for our family vacation

I will admit I was a bit nervous due to the negative reviews. However, I found this team to be very helpful and professional. They did a great job for us on our Jeep. They explained everything that was going on very well.

I’m hoping I never have any car trouble in the future. But, if I do, I know I can trust Aamco to take care of my issues. They were courteous and quick to resolve any issues I had.
The only issue I incurred throughout the process was a parts delay, which was out of their control. The manager always kept me informed of what was going on, which helped relieve any anxiety I might have had.
I will definitely go back, and would highly recommend letting them take care of your issues.

Same experience as Stacie, Leslie and SB! Bad service, they broke my AC and never called to let us know if my car was ready. They didn’t fix the problem we took our car in for. And, they had our car from Saturday to Thursday to supposedly fix the original problem that was causing the whiny noise.
When my husband called to find out the status they said our car was ready so we picked it up, started the car and it was the same whiny noise that we took it in for. We turned around and went right back, then they claimed it was the alternator. We had already returned the rental car because they told us it was ready so my husband missed work waiting for them to fix it.
After the alternator was replaced, supposedly, we noticed the air didn’t come through the vents. The mechanic told us they didn’t recalibrate the system after they disconnected the battery. So they broke the mode actuator. Of course we expected them to fix it, but some very rude, seemed-​to-​be-​clueless guy named David refused to fix it. If they could get money from the warranty company they would supposedly fix it, but since the warranty company knows the air worked before it went in and AAmco broke it, they recommended we take our car to a dealership where someone else had to fix what they broke and we had to dish out money!

The WORST place in Dallas to take your car! DO not bring them business they stink at customer service. They do not update and they never follow up much less provide status or return calls! They have had my car for almost a month, and still keep saying «it will be tomorrow». Unbelievable. I did notice every Unilocal from a girl says the same things… hmm we may be on to something here. This is my first bad Unilocal but believ me they deserve it! Now give me my car back! UGH

Find somewhere else! I took my car here in November based strongly on the positive reviews on Google and on Unilocal.
Either these reviewers are liars or something has drastically changed at Aamco. I took my car there in Nov., after having my car for almost two weeks, it was finally done. This is after being told for several days, «it’ll be tomorrow». This did not fly with my husband but I convinced him to keep his cool as I was sure this type of repair took time.
When I went to pick up my car with a ‘new’ re-​built transmission, the manager, David, drove it out and immediately noticed there was something wrong with the fluids. I waited there an additional hour or so while they tried to fix whatever that was. I drove it for a week and the transmission was still not repaired as it was slipping in a out of gear. We paid $ 2,300 for this repair.
I took it back in at least two times and was told they couldn’t get to it right away and to just drive it for the time being. I did so because I couldn’t afford to be without a car for another two weeks. I finally took it back shortly before Christmas, when my husband had vacation time and we could carpool. They had the vehicle for over two weeks this time.
Again, it was the same «it’ll be tomorrow» line or «we had to order a part» or «we had to bring someone else in». At one point, they finally flat out admitted they didn’t know what was wrong. The vehicle is a 2004 and has 70,000 miles on it. Finally, it was fixed.
Yesterday, while my husband was driving the car to Austin, it started smoking and leaking red fluid. It cost us about $ 150 to have it towed back to Aamco. I will now have to rent a car because I can’t afford to not have one but just to rent a car for a week will be at least $ 200. The manager, David, said he would have Rahim, the owner call us and told us he doesn’t get in until about 11am on Monday. At this point, that is not good enough for us.
For the last 3 months our car has been in and out of their shop and is still not fixed. We’ve had phone calls go unreturned, had employees lie to us as to what the status of our car was, had David do Rahim’s dirty work. This is probably the most dissatisfied I have ever been with any company ever.
In the beginning, I appreciated David’s help and what seemed like great knowledge of transmissions. Now, I just think they are liars. The lot is full there but I’m not sure if any of the cars are getting repaired. I know mine still isn’t.
Hopefully this will be read by someone and you can avoid all of the trouble I have experienced. The repairs are covered by warranty but I can’t imagine all the money they are losing having to now fix my car for the 3^rd time. A good business would have excellent communication with their customers but this one doesn’t.

Best transmission service I have found in town… definately keeping their number in my phone… no complaints…
I had a truck that is plagued with transmission issues… been through two replaced by dealership, and not recently I lost two gears going up 75… after making a few phone calls to people in the know… they recommended this shop in particular… I had my truck towed (comp’d with service) and left it there to get a quote… two business days later they had one ready for me, and I went up to get the paperwork out of the way… they have so much business they are parking vehicles next door, it’s kinda crazy… They need a bigger location…
Anyway, the staff is awesome. busy, but nice guys willing to help you out and explain things… they actually took me through the decision of replacing, vs fixing, and saved me some cash…
Having a broken down vehicle sucks, it’s stressful anyway you look at it and you just want it taken care of… it’s all you can ask and the folks at Aamco took care of me!

Have been here several times to service my Honda. Services range from oil change to tune-​up. I found the service to be better than the dealer.
The staff was honest and pleasant to work with.
I would definitely go back.

I recently took my car to AAMCO on Inwood, and I had a horrible experience. I strongly recommend that you find somewhere else to take your car, unless you don’t ever need it back, and you want an incorrect diagnosis.
My vehicle developed a strong gasoline smell in the passenger cabin. I was very concerned about the safety risk, so I wanted to take it to somewhere near my work. I called AAMCO from work at about 11am on a Friday to see if they could take a look at my vehicle when I could leave work at 3:30. The manager, David, I believe, agreed and said that they would have time to look at it then.
I arrived at 3:30, and I was asked if I could leave my car overnight so they could look at it on Sat. I reluctantly agreed, concerned that the parking areas were so crowded with vehicles that I had to park next door at Metro PCS. The manager told me that they closed at 1pm on Sat, and I stated emphatically that I really needed them to look at it and at least diagnose the problem before closing on Sat. The manager agreed, and said he would call me Sat morning after the mechanic had taken a look at it.
By 11am on Sat morning, I had not heard anything, so I called AAMCO. The manager answered and said that he would call me right back. At noon, I still had not heard from the manager, so I called back. He placed me on hold, and after a lengthy wait, he came back on the line and asked if he could call me back. I refused, so he told me that there was a crack in my gas tank, and that I had been «driving a bomb.» He said that he had been calling around trying to find a replacement gas tank, and that he needed to talk to me more about it, so he would call me back when he could turn the phones off after 1pm. I agreed. I never heard back from him.
On Monday at 8am, I walked into the AAMCO office on Inwood. The manager immediately started making excuses for not calling me back, saying that his tech was going to look at the car this morning. As I glanced outside, one of the AAMCO techs climbed into my car, which was parked directly outside of the service bay, and proceeded to drive out on to Inwood and out of sight.
I told the manager that I wanted my car back so I could take it somewhere else that had time to look at it. After making more excuses, he said that it didn’t matter if I left, there would be another car right behind me needing service. He was extremely unprofessional, and never apologized for the delay or for never calling me back. Five minutes later, the tech returned my car. I drove my car directly to a nearby mechanic shop, who immediately looked at it, diagnosed the problem as a broken part on the sending unit of the fuel pump (not a cracked gas tank), replaced it, and fixed the problem.
The manager here is a liar, completely unprofessional, evasive, and rude. Don’t even consider going here.
