Pep Boys Auto Service & Tire

Having had the Pep Boys on Candler Rd. in Decatur put 3 different sized tires on my car in college, it took me 16 years to step foot into another Pep Boys. I am now married and living in Dacula so I thought I’d give them a try since they just opened. At 10 am I called and made an appointment for a 3pm oil change. I arrived at 2:45pm. By 4pm my car was still sitting where I parked it. The tech came to the waiting area a few minutes after 4pm and asked me if I had difficulty opening the car door. I said «no.» Come to find out, they had the wrong Honda. This place needs to get it together before I give them my business. I left annoyed and unserviced. Yes, I still need an oil change but I won’t be going back to Pep Boys. Fool me once shame on you but fool me twice, you know how the saying goes.

I came here with a car that had 6,000 miles for an oil change. They came in and told me I needed a new cabin filter and that it was «dirty». Anyhow, I bit and let them change it. Well… I got home and they also blindly charged me for an $ 8 fuel injector service on top of just the oil change and cabin air filter change. ALWAYS check your receipts before leaving. They’re cheating their way through hidden charges to make budget. Didn’t call them, not worth it to me… however, I will NEVER step foot in there again. They have completely lost my trust and business.

Got my headlight, actually both changed here. Sat nextdoor at DD while I waited and it was done in time promised. I would return for other services again.

Unless you are absolutely stranded in their parking lot with no other options, do not give this place your business. I stopped by to have my tire pressure leveled out in two tires the other day and asked if I could do it myself. The manager was so rude and condescending with his reply of, «park you vehicle out front, bring us the keys and we’ll get to your car in 10 to 20 minutes». Are you kidding me? To inflate two tires with less than 4psi of air to the specified psi amout to make my dash sensor turn off, 10 to 20 minutes. As a former auto shop tech and emission tester I take insult to this type of customer service. So I went to auto zone, bought. $ 2.99 tire gauge drove to quicktrip and did it myself. In less than 10 min. My best advice for anyone considering This specific PepBoys for any type of service, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE SERVICE !
We generally try to avoid going to this chain due to extremely bad service experienced in another state but recently took a chance to see if things changed. We arrived and were told a few minutes, no issues so we walked to a nearby restaurant. Upon our return the car was still parked outside where we left it!
We were then told that the delay was due to previous appointments, that they’ll get to it right away. This was the same person who said a few minutes! Eventually they got to it and then after another wait I noticed the car was still sitting there with the hood up and NO ONE AROUND! They had finished it up but never took it down. It was just sitting there the whole time.
Finally, we asked to speak to a manager and the only one who would see us was the assistant manager. They wouldn’t give us the manager’s number.
Bottom line: go to Firestone.

I just called spoke to someone named Joe, who said he was the manager. He directed me to the website for all my questions and did not want to help me. He was very rude and Pep Boys just lost a customer.

What a JOKE! Joey and David have the worst customer skills I’ve ever experienced. Rude to one customer after another. Had my tires balanced and had to go back 2 days later because they were worse than before. They hate their jobs and its quite evident. 1 star is much too high. They now want your emails for your receipt so they can also send you advertisements! Don’t waste your money. Christian Brothers or Joey Watkins will be my go to shops from now on. Wow!

Have had good experiences here so far. Just took my car in. Very friendly, drove me home so I wouldn’t have to wait, and the problem was less than I thought it would be. Feel good about going here

Worst Pep Boys around. I love the Snellvile Pep Boys but the Dacula location could care less. I waiting over 5 hours in the waiting area. I was told it would take 2 hours at the most. I went and got lunch and when I got back, they said they tried to call because they found multiple problems. They dialed the number wrong once and didn’t try the number again. This mistake delayed my truck another 30 minutes. Worst service around. We will never be back!!!

Update on my case: I took my vehicle to the local VW dealership. They confirmed the oil pan threading had indeed been stripped during the last Pep Boys oil change. My issue was with the integrity or lack there of on the part of the staff who worked on my car. They tried to Jerry rig a fix to stop the leak that did not work without informing me, the customer, that a mistake had taken place.
I contacted corporate Pep Boys twice and after my second call and email the Area Director was informed and contacted me about my vehicle.
The Area Director, assured me my car would be repaired at no cost to me… I requested original VW parts vice after market because I’ve had issues with after market quality in the past. Pep Boys then requested to do the repairs so as to save on labor and they would have their Master Mechanic complete the job.
I don’t have any oil leaking in my driveway anymore after 1 day but when I had my car inspected the mechanic pointed out the oil pan cover was not installed properly but rather zip tied in place.
Attention to detail in the small things will go a long ways for big issues/​repairs.
I am going to have the dealer fix this problem to bring the car back to original VW specifications. I thank the Pep Boys team at the store and the Area Director for addressing my issue and fixing the damage.
Pep Boys additionally refunded my diagnostic charges from VW for the initial damages and I’m appreciative of that… Bottom line is the customer should not have to feel like they must check the checker after automotive repairs so Pep Boys needs to work diligently to improve in this regard.

Don’t take your vehicles to this place. They say they fix something but in return broke something else. That way you have to bring your vehicle back to them. Then they’re going to charge you an arm and a leg to get that fixed. This place rips people off. DONT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!

I recently had my vehicle serviced there. The service technicians were very professional and eager to offer the best customer satisfaction.
Tim, the lead manager for the Dacula center helped to insure that my service was timely and cost effective. Any and all discrepancies that were noted were remedied in a very timely manner. I was highly impressed.
I’d recommend them to friends and colleagues and will continue to have all of my vehicles serviced with them on a recurring basis.

I recently went in to the Dacula, GA Pepboys. I have had maintenance performed at this location before. I had my radiator over heat, they replaced the thermostat and a couple of hoses and the repair was over $ 300 with a discount. Well about 3 weeks later, they exact same thing happend to the car. It started smoking from the engine and overheating. I opened my hood and the reservoir take for my radiator was boiling and fluid was poring onto the ground. I took it back to the same Pepboys, because I purchased the warranty on parts and labor. They called me later on to tell me that I needed a new radiator, fans, hoses, and fluids. They said that the repair would be $ 1000 and that they would do it for $ 800 with a veteran discount. I told the man that I would have my mechanic come and pick up the car, so he can diagnose it too. After 6 hours, my mechanic called me back and said that the radiator cap wasn’t holding pressure and that to fix it with the part would be $ 75. This is not the first time that a Pepboys location has tried to screw me over like I’m an idiot. They were very nice, but very dishonest. This seems to be becoming a trend at the Pepboys company. I really want to write a complaint to the BBB, write bad reviews on

and every other site or app that people use to warn them about being ripped off. It’s not fair to honest people to be ripped off on things like car repair. I wouldn’t have minded if it was like a $ 100 difference, but it was a $ 925 difference from the original quote! I really hope that you can do something about this. I’m tired of being screwed over by Pepboys. Moral of the story? Don’t try to rip people off! There are smarter people than you think out there.

1 Star is giving this place a great score compared to what they should get. The manager got an attitude with me for saying that Autozone runs the engine codes for free. Don’t go to this place if you’re looking for friendly people to help you and not drain your wallet. There’s a pepboys in Buford which has friendly staff unlike this place.

Stopped by to see what it would cost to change the bulb in my headlight. I was quoted a price of about $ 31 which I thought was high but was willing to pay. However after being quoted that price another man told me «no it’s higher than that.» I was re-​quoted a price of $ 141!!! I gave him a chance to give me the lower price to which he replied «I’m sorry.» I walked out never to return again. Seriously?

Tried to charge me $ 1000 for something I got fixed for only $ 200 by a mechanic down the road. Safe to say I won’t be returning.

They got the job done, but it took a very long time. The guys were friendly at first, but eventually you could tell that they hated their jobs and everyone who came in. Also, after my car was finished being worked on, it sat in the parking lot for at least fifteen minutes before they called me up to pay and leave. I probably won’t return– there are other car repair shops out there.
