I’d done several studies with this organization and they have always come through for me. With today’s economy, it’s a relief to find a source of income in a job market that just isn’t employing anyone.
And in regards to a user on here by the name of Javi C. from Los Angeles, I don’t know why you are hating on WCCT. If anything I DON’T TRUST CCT in Glendale at all! I feel like those people are WASTING MY TIME and playing games with me every time I try to get into one of their studies! Their recruiters also sound like they never graduated grade school!
If anything stay away from CCT! Unless of course you enjoy false promises and being teased with huge sums of money that they yank away from you at the last minute.

Stay away from here, its not worth the money or the time. I often felt not cared about and treated as only a test subject and not a human being. Its not so much the nurses fault as management. Also, the called me a month after completing a study and asked for money back because of an error THEY made. I WILL NOT BE DOING A STUDY HERE EVER AGAIN.

Very Rude to participants, no integrity in some staff, playing favorites and using same participants for studies and future studies 30 days after finishing other one, ask you to come back for repeat blood draws after screening for a study, waste your time, check in too many people for studies, your not guaranteed a participant in study, food is bland, sleep in bunk beds, the bathroom doors are locked and someone opens it every time you have to go. The point is do not go here unless you have extra time, and do not count on getting into any study. $ 250 on average per day staying inside facility over night they pay once in the study so people think sitting on their ass taking drugs for testing or placebo $ 250 a day is easy. So they wanna participate. Their not even taking generally healthy people some of these people are doing drugs anyway once they get the check at check out and step outside the doors. Just washing the street drugs out of their system before screening for another study. I like the fact they say volunteers Healthy Volunteers and take not very many generally healthy volunteers here.

I was excited about the opportunity to participate in a study with WCCT. It was my first time and even after reading reviews which seemed to lean 50% in favor and 50% with bad experiences, I figured to take a chance, the money was good for my 10 day participation, so why not. I had read about those who experienced some incompetence with scheduling follow up visits and getting times wrong but figured I would be careful and go over information on times and dates various times with my contacts. However, I was wrong, this facility doesn’t seem to know what the right hand is doing with the left hand. I arrived the morning of my 10:20appt. After beginning the paper work I received a call from Vanessa at the booking facility. I was informed my age was older than the 55 required for the study. I discussed age appropriateness twice with individuals before going ahead with my appointment. That Monday. I drove 1 ½ hours to arrive at WCCT from where I live. I fasted the appropriate time and was very hungry. I wasted my time and no one could give me a good reason for the screw up in booking this appt. after being asked and given my age twice. No compensation given for my time, so beware even with the most careful steps can lead to frustration and disappointment.

Staff is rude, recruiters especially. Try to force into studies that might be risk to your health
Food is horrible and gets me sick
Pays worst than other places
Go to parexel in Glendale instead

My first time having a in stay allergy study. This review is Mixed.
I have to say that at least most of the nurses I had and the staff doing skin tests were great. They were not robotic like some of the staff that make you really feel like you are just a lab rat. So those individuals get a 5 star review. They also get 5 stars on paying in a timely manner and sometimes faster than expected.
4 stars for arranging a pick up for the in stay. I was told very last minute and couldn’t arrange to come for the early appointment time. They came through and arranged to pick me up. I admit I forgot to mention to anyone about the fact that I would need a ride back assuming that since I got there they would be aware of it. So I was ready to deal with consequences of not remembering to say so sooner. But they arranged a taxi and I got home and I was glad of that.
Now for the overall Meh scoring. This place is so disorganized and overall very unprofessional. Here is why
Why do they have schedulers if they can’t schedule?
On my follow up visits I haven’t been told the correct amount of time to expect for the visit. Only asking for ball park. Other study participants were also told 45 min visit, so I planned on an hour. It’s actually a 2 ½ to 3 hour visit for skin tests! Some people had to shift their day around. I get that we are getting paid a nice chunk of money, but it doesn’t give you the right to mess around with people’s time. I came in earlier because they messed up with the scheduling to begin with, not listening to the staff that actually does the procedures. I got a call from a nervous sounding staffer saying it’s just the procedures we need to move people around, I’m like that’s fine I can come early calm down. The next appointment they said to expect an hour after I called to double check. First they said like last time, I let then know that the last time I was given the wrong time frame and that I was calling because your departments don’t communicate well and I get told the wrong information. I was told he spoke to coordinator and it would be 1hr. The visit was five minutes just one blood draw. At least it was short.
For my third follow up I’m called on a Thursday and asked if I can come in a day early. By now I know the drill, they can’t schedule. So I don’t sweat it, but I can’t confirm because I’m dependent on someone of the appt is 8am. This time I’m not really going out of my way to accommodate them, I’d rather go my scheduled date, and doesn’t that mess up the study? I never get a follow up call and have to call to make sure my appt is still original time.
Rude bad attitude people answering the phones, forgets what their job is.
Also, when I called to check in with my appointment whoever answered the phone was rude and had a bad attitude. I called telling her I wanted to check in on my appointment time etc. I thought I was calling the correct location, but apparently it was a general number. She proceeded to tell me she can’t answer this question she doesn’t know what study I’m in, blah blah blah whine whine, so I assume it’s not about be, she clearly hates her job. I just let her go on until she was done I just said, «Well, to solve this easily I would just like to be transferred to the person who can answer my questions.» She didn’t say please hold or anything just an unprofessional abrupt «ok,» and parked me while she connected me to Cypress. I’m thinking chick! All you have to do is take my questions and use simple reasoning to decide where best to send me, but instead of doing your job I have to remind you of what it is you are supposed to be doing when picking up the phone.
The food is terrible and unhealthy. Even a nurse described it as food given to dying people. I don’t eat beef or pork and informed them. They asked if it was ok if I just put those items aside if they were part of the meal and eat the rest. I said yes, but why serve chicken twice and so much beef and pork!?? The meals were so poorly put together that I was left hungry a lot, and I can’t afford to lose weight! There was an outrageous amount of sugary items in the form of High fructose corn syrup in sugary juices, snacks and desert. I get it I’m a high maintenance lab rat, I eat healthy and don’t use microwaves, which is why I qualify as a very healthy subject. I got creative and I put some food in a toaster otherwise I ate it cold. So I wouldn’t want to do anymore in stay for not having toaster ovens as an option.

extremely unorganized!!! not sure why any company would trust the results of their clinical trials. they don’t have enough staff members to handle the amount of people in the trials and again, so unorganized.

I’m a SoCRA certified clinical research coordinator myself, so I am all about participating in clinical research trials. Being that I only do oncology studies and I can’t participate in my own site’s studies anyways, I wanted to find a study for healthy females to participate in. I wish I had researched the place myself beforehand. Look at their filtered reviews… tons of 5-​star reviews from accounts that have only reviewed 1 place: WCCT. This speaks to their business practices and my experience.
WCCT was over an hour away, so I requested a phone screen. I asked questions that any basic coordinator who is screening should know the answer to: what phase is the study in, is the pill monophasic or triphasic, what’s the window to enroll after the screening visit. The guy on the phone had to put me on hold for every question – clearly didn’t know anything about the study. Furthermore, didn’t know the answer to most of my questions and just told me they would all be answered during my screening visit. I asked if the screening visit was paid because it was a far drive for me, and he said yes. During the phone screen he asks me a bunch of normal questions, but nothing about my family history.
I drive over an hour down there, and after about an hour the research nurse asks if I have any family history of blood disorders, which I do (1 family member). She abruptly leaves the room, and a few minutes later the doctor comes in (talking through a mouthful of food… seriously?) telling me that I don’t qualify for the study and walks out. The nurse comes in and says «OK do you need anything else?» I was shocked at the unprofessionalism, but I asked nicely if I could still receive reimbursement for the screening visit because I drove 50 miles and took off work to come here. The nurse said that I technically didn’t complete the visit because they didn’t draw blood, so they refused to pay out. Them not asking me over the phone was a dumb mistake on their end; the pharma companies literally give you a bulleted list of questions you should confirm with a patient prior to bringing them. The purpose of the screening visit is to obtain consent, confirm the information given over the phone, perform a blood draw, physical, and any other procedures required prior to enrollment.
I can understand mistakes, but in all the clinical research centers I worked out, if WE made an error in our screening, lab processing, or anything that created an inconvenience for a patient, we ALWAYS reimbursed the patient for the visit, even if it came out of our clinic’s pocket. How else would we expect patients to trust us and come back for other trials that they may qualify for? The research nurse’s exact words were «Yeah sorry for the confusion, when you said you had that in your family history I thought, ‘why is she even here?’» How professional. Yeah, why was I even there? I’m willing to bet they’ll probably keep me in their database and call me to come in for another study that I would qualify for – they’ll get an earful.
This place is a mill anyways… there are usually multiple sites for a study in CA, so if they have a trial you’re interested in I recommend researching to see if you can another site that performs clinical research with integrity.

Bad manner. Be aware and don’t go there you won’t feel like you treated as human being. You will regret every min the time of stay here. Please do stay away. You will be drain the blood drawing. Rude stuff. Moment you step in probably start think what am I get myself into?

Great clinical study facility, with spacious rooms and friendly staff that is very helpful. Always a happy experience!

I am not a «career participant» but I have completed a fair number of studies at WCCT, ranging from just a few days to multiple stays of a few days and/​or longer (up to 21 days once… but I have my stir crazy limits & can’t make that a habit, LOL). Usually I am there once or twice per year. The facility is reasonably comfortable for a «clinic.» If you are the picky type, it’s not the Hilton but it’s not supposed to be, either, so get over it.
Available amenities include WiFi, multiple big-​screen televisions for watching TV shows & smaller ones for playing Playstation. Games can be borrowed from their games library or brought in. Seats are reasonably comfortable for sitting in for long periods of time. There is a lounge room, which offers one television & a couple of couches. This room also has a library of books (many are Japanese, as they have a large volume of Japanese participants at times). There are two computers with Internet access available for usage by participants. All amenities, like computers, games, showering, watching a desired TV show, etc. are coordinated by the staff in a sign-​up log. If you absolutely CAN’T MISS your favorite episode of something on Wednesdays at 8 PM, then sign up for that TV slot in advance.
Food is surprisingly good at times… and not-​so-​surprisingly bland at other times (on studies that have strict dietary restrictions). It is catered in by an outside food service. I don’t advise volunteering for a study solely for the purpose of sampling their cuisine but I have to say that some of those meals are pretty darned good. You definitely won’t starve if you are on the standard menu plan.
I noted one review with a one-​star rating that talked about pretentious phlebotomists, assistants, etc. I don’t know who wrote that but I have never seen a more INACCURATE review. It sounds as if it was written by a novice volunteer, who didn’t understand controlled-​environment parameters. Yes, they confiscate virtually all of your personal toiletries because they need everyone to be on the same page with regard to potential skin irritations that could be caused by the medications, & eliminating those outside items from usage while in the clinic eliminates the potential that the outside item may have caused the problem. Not sure how confiscating my electric razor is important, though. I don’t think they can be transformed into a stun gun so how can it be dangerous? With regard to the comment about pretentious staff members, I have no idea what that is all about, either. Sure, sometimes certain staff members can perhaps not be the friendliest (just like in the real world), but my experience has been that the majority of them return whatever polite feelings that you convey toward them. I would like to name a few who are really personable but I don’t want to single out my favorites and let it go to their heads, LOL!
If you are not restricted from going outdoors, you can play volleyball in the sand court or basketball in the NBA size gym, or run to the golf course for a quick nine holes… OK, who thought I was serious? A quick nine holes? Really? While you are at a medical clinic testing a drug? Exercise is restricted. However, the staff is very willing to take interested participants on a short walk around the building & parking lot. It’s nice to smell fresh air and remember what it’s like to be «free» while still in the study. Just ask… they don’t usually volunteer this activity & you have to be there for at least a couple of days before you are eligible to go out.
Little things to know:
Bring your own entertainment & bring more than you think you might need if you will be there for more than a couple of days. Books or hobbies that don’t involve chemicals or dangerous devices are good. Download a few movies that you haven’t watched & watch them on your laptop. I think I saw someone crocheting there once, though I’m not sure how the crochet hook managed to be OK with the security/​toiletry check. Maybe they were allowed to retrieve it & turn it back in at the end of the day.
Bring a pillow/​blanket if you have a favorite «binky blanket.» Think of the accommodations as «summer camp.» Remember that? Bunk beds & not the best of pillows? Yeah, that’s it. The bunk beds are way cleaner than camp, though. Room size varies from a couple of beds (e.g. 4 people) to much larger (10 people).
Ear plugs are critical, especially if you sleep lightly & you get stuck with a roommate like me who snores (or sometimes two or three in the same room). WCCT frowns on suffocating fellow participants because they snored & woke you up, then you trying to claim that their suffocation was an «ADVERSE EFFECT» of the medication. The staff won’t believe you & neither will the police. I would just bring ear plugs. Besides, the investigation would interfere with your study schedule & would likely make you 25 years-​to-​life late for your blood draw. There goes your stipend.
Enjoy your mini-​vacation there!

WCCT Global is a useful clinical study establishment. The money a person is paid for participation in a study is usually worth a person’s time and energy, but beware of the fact that if your vitals and blood aren’t very healthy and you were among the last to sign up for a study, that you may very well be cut from the study! Out of the two studies I took part in, some people were let go for those reasons I mentioned. Luckily you eventually get paid for every day you were a part of the study, so the shock and emotional burden of being taken out of the study should be less painful since you were given some money for what you did accomplish.
The staff are usually helpful, kind and respectful people with personalities and uniquely human characteristics (some medical staff distance themselves and seem more like robots to me). I honestly would have distanced myself from all of the different study people coming in and out all of the time. But no. The majority make an honest effort to treat the clinical study participant as more of a person than a study subject. Be warned though, they are strict as they have to adhere to an even stricter set of rules. If you have behavioral issues, such as anger management, I wouldn’t suggest participating in a study. I wouldn’t suggest people with ADD or ADHD to take part in a study either. Think about it. Your medicines might get taken away, you’re not allowed to exercise more than walking around inside the building for the most part and even people with no obvious behavioral issues get stir crazy after awhile.
There is a «lights out» period starting at 11pm until the morning. And eating schedules are specifically based on whichever study you choose. WCCT doesn’t choose what you are given to eat. This is all given by your sponsor, or the one that has paid WCCT Global to test their drugs. (Pharmaceutical companies in other words) So don’t expect fine cuisine. You won’t get it. If you’re a strict vegetarian, you might have struggles. Sometimes your sponsor will give you vegetarian food if you request it at the very beginning of your study! Because almost every normal meal has meat in it or on it. And if the food needs heated, it’s going to be microwaved food. So keep that in mind too.
Usually you end up having a lot of free time. Bring any and all entertainment items that you can. Laptops, books, iPads, smartphones, handheld game consoles, board games, etc. They do have a limited amount of entertainment, like a TV… But I highly suggest bringing your own things in addition to what they provide. Especially if you have a long study.
Bedrooms have a few to several bunk beds and rooms are of course, gender exclusive. Males in one room. Females in another. Kind of like summer camp buildings that children live in for a week or so. There’s sometimes a dresser and a window and sometimes not. Luck of the draw you could say.
The showers! If you’re a woman, try to shower in shower room 1. It has hot water. Unlike shower room 2. And try not to bring any medicated shampoos and stuff. They will likely take these away from you. Take the restrictions seriously. Because they WILL be enforced seriously. And read through your contract carefully before getting into a study.
Screenings vary in time and length based on the particular amount of people in the study and how many studies are going to have screenings that day. Prepare to spend the day out. My shortest screening was about 2 hours and the most lengthy one I’ve sat through was almost 7 hours or so. Again… this can vary greatly.
Lastly, understand that there is commitment needed to participate in any study and a willingness to be a study subject. This isn’t a vacation. It’s work. You can enjoy it as such, but just remember that you’re getting paid for it. Take it seriously or you’ll be out sooner than you may anticipate.
My experiences were both pleasant. My first study had 2 overnight courses. The first was 8 days 7 nights and the second was 7 days 6 nights. My second study was one incriminate of 10 days 9 nights. I experienced no terrible symptoms. The worst was the bruises on my arms from so many blood draws! It was overall pretty easy money. I didn’t have «fun» during the study per say, but I sure had a blast cashing in my checks! Oh and most people participating in studies are interesting individuals who are pretty great company. At least this was my experience.
Lastly, follow-​ups? Easy peasy and usually a lot faster than the screening.

I participated in a study earlier last year, and overall had a pleasant experience.
The staff were all pretty nice and prompt with their scheduling, whether it be prescreening, screening or dosing. I met some really nice people while participating in the study. Some of the volunteers were kind of rude to the staff though, I kind of felt bad for the nurses. The particular study I was in, involved a lot of blood draws and these nurses had a hard time tracking then down because they kept disappearing around the time they had a draw scheduled.
mnn. there is a lot of downtime, so be prepared to bring a laptop or a book. Depending on the study and the restrictions, it can get rigorous. Remember that you are healthy volunteers that are testing out drugs meant specifically for people with a specific condition. Which means there will be an emulation in dietary habits, such as water restrictions and food intake. Everything is time sensitive, so if you mess that up, the research needs to make note of the deviations that occur. There’s a bunch of people complaining about how nurses and staff being strict on dietary restrictions, but if you had been diligent in reading the study requirements, you knew exactly what you are signing up for. And if you haven’t, then your greed for the money you were promised to receive at the end has blinded you. Part of the study is that you are aware of the components necessary for the study. so that you are cooperative with the contents of the study.
You don’t get paid at work for doing nothing, you get paid to do the work. so keep in mind that you get paid for the study in a generous amount for the cooperation an completion of the study.
I would do another study if I had the time. I still recommend a bunch of people to do a study.

Compared to most other clinical studies places WCCT was clean, modern, and well run. Did one study with them as a healthy participant and although it was a bit far the staffers were accommodating and friendly.
Word to the wise — make sure you read all the fine print and ask questions if anything is unclear; you don’t want to quit part way through…

i’ve participated twice in these studies. once as a child and again as an adult. it was a little uncomfortable the first time because they were controlling my life but as the study went on i saw that this was what i signed up for. cool people, met some good friends there and made new ones.
when i came back years later it was nothing but hassle. found out that you really don’t have a chance unless you have severe symptoms. But this second time i was called back, they were kind of rude and the morning i was to come in for my second screening, they said they had no recollection of me and didn’t call me. it was ridiculous. i had already called off work for a few day.
Anyways, all in all, its a good place to earn some extra income, but its your choice, and make sure you understand fully of what you’re signing up for. as you can see with some of these reviews… it’s hit and miss here. not a horrible place, but they definitely could do better.

Filled with pretentious, stuck-​ed up phlebotomist, medical assistants and LVNs! They confiscate your lotions, body wash, shampoo, anything with «alcohol» ingredient in it and make up an excuse like «it will conflict with medication»?! WTH??? Are we 3? Are we going to EAT THE LOTIONS??? If it shouldn’t be brought, it should be on the «NOT TO BRING LIST» and provided non-​alcohol lotions. Why should we have to ask to use our own stuff?
Also they make everyone go to sleep at 9PM, who goes to sleep at 9? They don’t care what you were doing, where you are, they will turn off all lights at 9PM! So I asked what if we tripped and fell while going to the bathroom at midnight? NOPE! not their problem!
Last but not least, it is NEVER their fault if anything goes wrong during the study! MAKE NOTE, NEVER EVER!!! I had to get poked 8 times for one draw because the MA was too busy gossipping and wasn’t paying attention. Her excuse: the tubes lost suction twice then she couldn’t get the veins back to draw blood! then she complained that I was a whiner because her pokes DO NOT EVER HURT TO ANYONE ELSE and should quit the study while already 5 days into the study. HOW CONSIDERATE!!! WOW!
((Having empathy should be a requirement for health care professionals and no one in WCCT have empathy for others.))
so you are ready to be confiscated of regular vanities, chained to your chair (yes! they ask you to sit for at least 8 – 10 hours to your chair), or finish food in 30 minutes (no matter how late, mine was 8pm everyday, then immediately go to sleep at 9pm), GET POKED AS MANY TIMES THEY WANT (otherwise forfeit the compensation) then you are so ready for their studies! Good luck!

Highly professional, clean and well maintained facility. This is a phase I facility so testing is rigorous and the schedules are very precise, if you are not ready for that I recommend you try a phase II or III facility. I have always been treated courteously and have never had a problem, I have done about eight studies there over a two year period.
Because the studies here are primarily phase I, the pay is good. But you must appreciate you are being paid to abide by the testing schedule they set, it galls me when people complain. The schedules are given to you in the morning so you know what is expected of you that day. I have only had one occasion where they needed to add an extra follow up, and we were told with ample notice.
It would be jive if they would add a treadmill, especially if you are doing a long study. They are very strict on the no exercise policy.
As far as compensation, they explain when you can expect payment when you arrive, you normally do not have to wait. You will usually be paid on a schedule when you come in for follow ups and at the end of inpatient periods. Even if they are mailing you a check, they usually call to see if You want to pick it up in person.
This is the only place I do studies, and I highly recommend this facility.

This place is a complete scam, best to avoid at all costs.
I set my appointment and was told I would be paid regardless if I qualified or not. I drove the two hours North and was told, after two hours in the office, that I would not qualify based on information I had given them over the phone. Then WHY did they have me come in if I already disqualified over the phone?
Seems they don’t have their crap together. Therefore, after two hours of tests they REFUSED to pay me (minutes after a nurse told me I would be paid either way). I indicated what I had been told and was met with evil stares and told to leave the building. These people are heartless and disrespectful. AVOID at ALL COST!!!

I have done two studies with WCCT & I couldn’t have been more pleased with screening, check-​in, accommodations& check out. Very thorough staff& they run a tight ship, so you are guaranteed professionalism& fun. I met great people, played board games& watched my Netflix series& dvd’s. I refer to it as a“mini vacation «with pay! Thanks WCCT& looking forward to future studies.

I qualified for the healthy females study so I went in. I was supposed to be there for a week. They confiscated tons of toiletries and my dairy digestives and made me throw it away since my friend had dropped me off! They wouldn’t even allow me to get it when I was done with the study! Very rude staff here. They are really strict during meal times and serve horrible food that isn’t healthy at all! They wouldn’t let me leave to walk outside and get fresh air! Bed time is at 9 pm and super early. With 6 people in bunk beds in one room, it was pretty difficult to get any sleep.
The 2^nd night and day, they restricted our water intake. It was really difficult and we were all super thirsty. Then they told us they were going to get a blood sample every half hour! How horrible is that?! The nurse poked me 4 times but was unable to get a blood sample. Then the doctor poked me 4 more times and still couldn’t get enough! They said my veins kept collapsing. Both my arms were bruised and sore. Then they told me I was out of the study!
I took time off from work to do this study and was really mad when they took me out of the study and told me I wouldn’t be paid at all! Worst staff, very rude, and inconsiderate people. I will never return!
