Navy Golf Course

I recently had the opportunity to play the course and overall the course was in good condition and the ranger kept the movement proper. Greens were nice and fairways were in good condition. For what it is in this local area; I would give the course ⁸⁄₁₀. As for the staff, in particular Anthony, was extremely professional and helpful. Would recommend the course for a local quick round.

The course is beautiful and very fun to play. Had an amazing sunset at the end of the day, but we were unable to complete all 18 holes. When we arrived, the guy at the counter in the pro shop told us that they were 15 minutes behind. My tee time was at 12:45. We teed of around 1 behind a group of 4 with push carts. Almost every hole had a line to tee off. After 4 in a half hours, it was a battle against the sun, we found ourselves rushing to each ball. Another hour goes by and the sun was set. We were only on hole 15 and forced to leave. 5 in a half hours just to do 15 holes is not cool. Although I was able to find a good del on the golf now app, I was still disappointed. I will most likely find myself going back to the course again soon because of how close it is to my house, but I will definitely get an earlier tee time.

Decent is the word that best describes this place.
Got here to play the Destroyer Course at our tee time of 12:30.
Upon arriving I was impressed with the club house area. It was really nice. The Pro Shop workers were very friendly and helpful as well.
We ended up splitting a bucket of balls at the Range just before our T-​Time. The driving range was small and the lawn out in the range area was dead. Mats and the screens between each section was nice though.
Started our round and paired up with a single golfer on his way out. Turns out he was around our skill set and was a really nice guy. Always a good day when you can make a new friend. The golf carts here are nice for the price and had GPS in them.
The course is decent. Some good challenges, but I dont think its up kept that well. Driving the gold cart on anything other than the cart path felt like I was doing the Baja 1000! it was harsh. Most of the grass in the Tee boxes was dead. The greens were also a little bumpy. I had a putt and I swear it hit several different dips and changed directions more than once!
The only thing that did bother me was the Marshall. He was kind of a douche. First time he came to complain about us was getting the golf cart too close to the greens. He said it has to be 30 feet away at least. And where we were at was probably 20 feet away. It wasnt that he told us that it was wrong, but the way it was almost a grumpy old many style lecture. Then again he complained about not fixing a divot. How are you supposed to fix a divot in dead yellow grass and dirt. PRetty sure I hit dirt not grass with my shot.
Overall, its okay. I dont think Ill be rushing back. But, if I see another Hot Deal on Golfnow I would probably go for it.

Navy course open to the public. Two prices: one for retired or vet military and one for general public. Even public price is good. 9 and 18 hole courses are in fair shape and challenging.

I am retired military & pay $ 35 for 18 here, carts have GPS & nice clubhouse. For the $ and this area. Great course for active duty & retired military! Plays in around 4 – 4 ½ hours most days.

A fun, but tough course. Greens are well-​kept. Prices are reasonable for both civilian and military. If you’re new to the game, you might want to stick to the Cruiser course, as it’s a little more forgiving. E.g. On the destroyer, most holes are adjacent to each other, guaranteeing a number of, «Fores!»
I’ve played here a couple of times and it seems typical for the marshall to allow parties of 5, which dramatically slow down the pace. Even when parties are «normal» sizes, the pace approaches the speed of molasses. Jokes aside, if you’re okay with a 4.5 to 5-​hour pace for 18, then you’ll probably enjoy this course.
Driving range: When I arrived, we were allowed to hit off divot-​plagued grass. However, they do have mats, but I am not sure when they are utilized. $ 8 for 80 balls seems a little steep, but it’s not horrible.

I visited the Navy golf course this past weekend as a wedding guest. The facilities were very nice with ample parking. Decorations for the ceremony and reception were perfect and very nice having everything in close proximity. The service on the other hand is what drastically effects my review. Our entire tables dinner was cold and our waitress Pamela was extremely Rude and unhelpful. I would not recommend this venue based on the impression Pamela left with us.

Pace was super slow (on a Thursday at 1:00 pm tee time), waited on every shot. Course difficulty is pretty easy. Course length was short also. I only used my driver off the tee about 5 times. Course condition is average and the price is tolerable for a round of golf these days ($ 38 including cart, if i remember correctly).
I would play here again if I were to play with friends who are just getting into golf, but this is certainly not a challenge for anyone who is not a beginner.

Great course, knowledgeable club pro and great staff. Did I leave anything out? Overall great experience and I have played quite a few courses… over 100. The course, not my score. ;)

Navy GC is one my favorite golf courses I’ve played so far. The fact that it’s located about 10 minutes from my house certainly helps.
1. The course is challenging with some narrow fairways, water, lakes, and streams. If your game is off, or if you stop paying attention, then you will be hating life. At the same time, some of the holes are fairly open, and you can slice right/​hook left at will, while still hitting par.
2. Greens are always fast and in great condition. For a public course, they sure know how to maintain their greens. Greens themselves are very challenging, and they are often multi-​tiered, meaning if you hit your approach shot on the wrong tier you may be looking at 3+ putts.

The one bad part? Pace of play is typically very slow. 5+ hours on a weekday isn’t unheard of. Not that I’m blaming them, but this course especially seems to attract the older crowd in the afternoons. It also probably doesn’t help that some of them choose to walk this 6800 yard course… A 3pm super-​twilight tee time will see you finishing well after 8pm, and you’ll be lucky to finish.

Course condition great but did not feel very welcome. The staff pro was rude. Not overtly but felt a bit of racism. They are partial to white customers even though Koreans are supporting the course with patronage. Don’t plan to play here no matter how cheap. It is always backed up.

Greedy pro shop worker — Abel Ortega charges more than he should. Must be pocketing the extras. Says it is the new charges but when I looked online for the rates he charged me earlier, they were the still the same…
NOT a YOUTH FRIENDLY GOLF COURSE — esp if playing the Destroyer. Not supportive of Youth Players — cart rates for parents only wattching are very high. People do not realise that our kids will be the future players of these course.

Course is in great shape. Greens are fast and very hilly (leaves some mini-​golf like putts). Lots of dog legs and a good amount of water on a lotta holes.
I really enjoyed the course quite a bit, but super twilight (after 3 pm) being $ 33, I think it’s a bit high compared to the other courses in the area.

It’s a public course but if you’re active or retired military or even a federal law enforcement employee then bring your credentials for you may receive a discount. We had a tee time at 6:30am and headed off the Destroyer Course promptly. Checking in with the pro shop guys to talking to the starter went as fluid as can be. The little snack shop doesn’t open until 6:30am so if you tee off before that time, you’re on your own if you are looking for a caffeine fix or a snack.
One big thing I noticed here is that they stress the pace of your play. The GPS gives you random pointers, like it’ll state that you’re «on pace.» I also read something along the lines of: don’t wait for other players, hit ball immediately when you find it and switch drivers to save time. I don’t disagree with any of this, it all makes sense but it is my first experience ever reading all these pointers while on a course and I’ve been golfing for at least a third of my life now. We usually play ready golf anyhow so it’s not a big deal.
Teeing off in the early mornings mean sporadic soggy patches of grass, moist greens, and super soft/​wet bunkers. By the time we were almost done, all that dried up and that’s when the putting challenges really kicked in. I always heard that the greens at Navy course were fast and once the green dried up, they were right. Not only must you accurately guess the speed and how the ball is going to roll, but hole placements on this day wasn’t exactly a walk in the park either. Many greens were of two tiers. Be wary of this as you approach the greens with your shots or else you may have a treacherous putt coming up.
For a navy to exist, then you’ll definitely need water. There’s a decent amount of water hazards throughout the course. I found some fairways to be generous and wide open while others were as narrow as a two lane highway.
On the final holes of Destroyer, you’ll see an airstrip which I will assume belongs to the military since I didn’t see any commercial or private planes taking off or landing. The row of Blackhawk helicopters was a cool sight to see.
There was never a drink gal and the make shift snack shop in the middle course was closed. The marshal (s) however were visibly out there. He would just sit and watch but he never approached us nor did I ever notice him smiling. I get that he was doing his job, but I felt like he just stalking different groups which can sometimes be uneasy. I guess his presence was a way to hammer in that «pace» they want you to keep up with.
Since it’s all about speed play here, here’s our pace for the day:
Tee’d off @ 630am and completed the Destroyer Course by 1045am.

This course is pretty well maintained. And the pace of play is modest. (5 – 10 mins wait every hole) It’s pretty long from the blue tees — you most likely will have approach shots over 130 – 140 if you’re driving it 240 – 260.
The one thing that is a letdown is their snack bar at the 12^th hole is your only option for mid round food or drinks (unless you sneak them on) AND they only take cash. I guess they would rather save the couple cents per transaction rather than have my money.
Other than that nice course. BYOB!

They have 2 courses — 18 hole regulation (Destroyer), 9 hole executive (Cruiser).
I played the Cruiser. The Destroyer course seemed really busy, however I pretty much had the Cruiser course to myself.
The longest hole was 353 yards (par 4), the other holes were a lot shorter. It was a fun course to play. It is very well maintained and very peaceful — no traffic noise etc.
I could not help but notice that I was the only person under 60 on the course. I guess it is popular amongst veterans. Also heavily discounted rates for military active and retired.

The course itself is pretty fun. It is open to the public and offers deep discounts for Navy personnel and military. They also offer discounts to government employees also (bring your creds).
The course was in okay shape a few days ago. The winter season will turn the grass yellow so the course wasn’t too green. I loved the Navy G.C.‘s greens though. Super fast and challenging but a lot of divot marks (come on, please fix your own divot mark plus 1 – 2 more).
The course had a frost delay on MLK Day but once the groups were allowed to tee off it got rolling. It wasn’t overly crowded on the Navy 18 hole course. The club house looks pretty nice also. Plenty of parking spaces and GPS on every electric cart!
I took off 1 star just because over my 20+ years of playing golf I was never rushed or asked to play faster by a course marshal. On this day, we had a 2-​some ahead of our 4-​some so it was a bit of a challenge keeping up the 2 ahead of us. At one point midway through our 18, we were approached by the course police and told to keep pace. I was so pissed! I’m a ready golfer, we weren’t that slow and the 4-​some behind us weren’t up on our butts either. !*(!^&$!%&^!%^%&#!&*#!
All in all, good times with good friends.

i had the greatest day of my golfing career, which could have solidified in stone, IF we didn’t have to sit around and wait for so long! we had to play holes 15, 16 and 17 in the dark. Couldn’t play 18 cause it was pitch black. They packed in way too many people on this particular day. We were 2 hours behind pace after 9 holes. it was so frustrating. We called the pro shop to complain. We wanted to get out of there and maybe take a voucher or something, but they were so adamant about not allowing it.
I may play this course again, only because they had some really cool jumbo airplanes flying very close and the fact that i shot my lowest score ever in my life, +11 through 16 holes, but I will NEVER play here on a weekend again

A decent 18 hole course. The white tees are par 72, 125 slope.
The course has some rough spots, but they are well marked and it is probably because of the winter season.
A fair amount of water hazards throughout the course. Watch hole 13(?) — their is water on the approach.
The greens have lots of tiers and undulations, and are very fast but roll fair and true. It took 2 – 3 holes for me to adjust.
$ 47 to walk on Fridays and weekends, $ 35 for veterans, and $ 21 for 20 year Navy career golfers.
There is a scale model of the USS Los Angeles in one of the water hazards. The Heavy Cruiser had a crew of 1,200 sailors, and was in action from 1945 — 1977. She served in the Korean war where she fired over 17,000 shells, was hit twice but never lost a sailor. Very cool model.
