So this is my second review of Metric. My first was five years ago, five star. Guess what? The review has not changed! The old service manager (a great guy) left, and a new one (Joe) has been there about three years. The other day, I went in and asked them to service my front and rear differentials and my transmission. Joe quoted me a fair price. After I left my truck for service, Joe went into his computer system and discovered that we had done the differentials fairly recently and that we did yet not need to do it again. He could have kept silent and charged me a lot more money — I never would have known! — but that is not how Metric does business. (And just so you know this is not a fake review, they really need to update the décor in the waiting area — the 80s called and they want their furniture back.)

John and the Team at Metric are great! My wife’s VM Passat broke down on a Saturday with a broken belt pulley, we had the car towed in that afternoon and we were back up and running on Monday. Fair prices and Great Service!

I trust these guys with my family’s lives. Quite literally.

What a great group of guys. This was my first time here and fortunately I didn’t need any major repairs. My family has been going here for years and has always told me great things. Such a down to earth place and with a great atmosphere. A great and honest service experience.

Many of my colleagues come here for auto service, so when my headlight burned out after only 4 months (I bought the original at AutoZone and they installed it), I decided to give them a shot. John was super friendly and helpful and replaced the bulb with a newer part within a few minutes for $ 15. Then he gave me a Metric Motors magnet calendar and a chip clip! He wrote down the type of bulb he used and said there’s a one-​year warranty. You definitely won’t find this kind of service at AutoZone. I’ll be back next time my car needs some TLC!

I have been a customer of Metric Motors sine 1985 or 1986. The small shop has been under the same oWner all those years. The staff is very accommodating and professional and works on all makes and models. Last summer I was unabe to drive dne to illness, and Metric Motors came to get my car, work on it and deliver it back to me. I trust the mechanics completely and strongly recommend this business.

Short and simple. Metric Motors is top notch. Hard to find good technicians at a decent price. John is great! And the Chinese guy Tom Kukamali is the best technician I’ve run into. Thanks to all!

Fair, honest and good quality best describes the service at Metric Motors in Cypress. Their crew explains things in simple terms and they only sell services you need. No hype or oversell. We have been taking our Toyota and Lexus there for years and its the only place we’ll go. Thanks John and Spencer!

I have to say, I am surprised there are not more reviews for Metric Motors here on Unilocal.This place is great! Everyone says it is hard to find an honest mechanic and women often claim to get upsold and ripped off when they go alone to get their car repaired.
These guys are as honest as it gets. I have taken every vehicle I have owned here, since I started to drive in 1991. The business has been around much longer than that and has no plans to go anywhere… as the owner told me the other day while he gave me a ride home. Yes, a ride home… its that kind of place!
I have never taken my car, truck, etc back here for the same problem twice. You bring the vehicle in, they diagnose the problem and they fix it… done. I have had everything you can imagine done here from services to replacing oxygen sensors to replacing a transmission on an old truck.
These guys will even troubleshoot potential issues you may face down the road, so you can prepare for it in advance.
The mechanics have ton of experience and the prices are good. I just had a 30,000 mile (major) service on my 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid. These guys beat the dealer price by over $ 50.00.
I have a referred a lot of friends here and have never received any negative feedback.
You don’t know me, you don’t know them and you don’t know what you’re going to get if you go elsewhere, so why not give them a try? I promise, you will not regret it!!!

Top notch mechanic. Checks car out thoroughly. No up sell. Reliable work. If your auto is not broke he will not fix it (and he tells you so).

I hate going to mechanics because they always over charge you and you can never trust their work. But, I needed service on my H2 Hummer and had no choice but to start looking around. I asked a good friend of mine who he uses and he said (without hesitation) «Metric Motors!»
I took my vehicle over to them and was told they could take care of it, but it would be a few hours. Then they asked if I needed a ride home and that they would pick me up when it was done. A few hours later, I got a call from Spencer and he said they fixed the problem and here is the price. I thought to myself… here we go, he is going to mark up the price and tell me I need more services than I really need. Not only did he tell me my problem was fixed, but it was cheaper than he originally quoted.
Needless to say, I have taken my vehicle back to them on other occasions and received excellent service and quality work. Their prices are very competitive and the work is finished when they say it will be done. I have and will referred Metric Motors to my friends!

Took in my dodge charger for a brake fluid flush and replacement service. Spencer, the manager, is a hip dude who knows how to talk the talk when speaking about what I needed for my ride. He made me feel at ease as I was waiting for my car. I also brought in a pair of oem splash guards that his mechanic gladly installed for free. A day later I called and wanted to get an alignment done. He told me exactly what he was going to do and was very thorough in his explanation. It it his attention to quality customer service that I will continue to use Metric Motors for my car needs!

Metric is a small shop with personal service. I trust them and the price is more than fair. I recommend them to all my friends and family! My husband is in the auto business but can’t work on family cars at his dealership. Metric Motors is the place we take the car now!!!

Downgrade to 2 stars. Too bad. A mechanic you can trust is a rare and wonderful thing. Over the last few years I have overlooked a few things because I have had good service and results there for so long.
But things change, and mechanics change jobs. You can forgive a mechanic for forgetting to reconnect a vacuum line — but when you ask for Lexus parts for a timing belt, and aftermarket stuff is used instead. John said they were made by the same company just without the Lexus brand, but they failed a year later… well, that ain’t good. They also had replaced a couple of belt pulleys that I never knew about — they must of messed up the originals. Anyway, crap parts again that were failing and noisy.
I also suspect they did not change the cabin air filter on my other car, and used cheap oil instead of synthetic I requested.
On the occasion the vacuum line was left off, the next day I called and told them the car wasn’t running properly. John said something else propably went wrong as I was driving home… what a ridiculous thing to say. I persisted, and was now kind of pissed. A mechanic reluctantly looked at it, and I stayed right with him, and we found the vacuum line.
I can’t recommend someplace that isn’t honest with their clients.
I went back to the Lexus of Westminster dealership for service, and was happy with their careful analysis and the work done. You do pay more, but you do get a free loaner if you need it. They also use Lexus parts.

Following Spencer’s suggestion, I took my Neon to the guys at Metric for 2 new tires… walked in for my appointment at 330 to all the paperwork done, and about 45 minutes to wait. Ran to get lunch, came back, and my car was ready to go — new front tires in 30 minutes for only $ 200!
Again, AMAZING customer service — Spencer remembered me on the PHONE :) You’re the best! Thank you for making it so easy and affordable to take the best possible care of my car!

I’ve been taking my family’s cars here since I was a little boy. John and Spence are great guys; they and their crew do excellent work.

I learned a lot about cars growing up because my dad did most of the maintenance on his cars and usually asked me to help. I was referred to Metric by my father several years ago and they have always done a fantastic job on my cars and I never felt like they were ever recommending I fix something that didn’t need to be fixed. I started going to them with a Toyota I used to own, but now my husband and I take both our VWs to them. Their prices are beyond reasonable. And the times when money was tight, and there were several things that would need fixing, they would give recommendations on the urgency of the problem so that I could budget accordingly.

These guys are great. Totally straight forward and honest with no BS upselling. We’ve been doing business with them for over 15 years and have never felt slighted with the service they’ve been able to provide. It’s typically Spencer or Mike who write me up and they’ve always done a great job. Not the cheapest guys in town, but not as expensive as the dealers, but always equal or better quality.
