Matt is an 18 year Volvo Master, an ASE Master and Mercedes Certified Technician. He and his family will diagnose, repair and service all vehicles. Their goal is to impress you with a clean, friendly and courteous environment while establishing a long-​term relationship with you through authentic customer service. Matt’s «specializes» in total car care including brakes, engine diagnositcs, air conditioning, maintenance, electrical and suspension repairs. And they even offer a complimentary check engine light evaluation. While offering service and repairs to all cars, Matt’s can even perform computer software upgrades and computerized key and remote installation for all Volvo cars since he invested in the same diagnostic equipment that is used at the Volvo dealerships. There is no more need for Volvo owners to travel way out of their way for dealer level technical service.

History

Established in 2011.

Matt’s Imports set up shop in Cypress because in the last 10 years the 5 local Volvo dealerships have closed within a 15 mile radius of Cypress. It’s time that someone with factory training stepped in to help our local community and its Volvo owners. Opening his own business has been a long time coming. Waiting for the right time, the right people and the right place. Matt has been fixing cars for dealerships for almost 30 years. He has now opened an independant repair shop that is as clean and organized as a dealership without the all the dealership overhead. If you get a chance you should stop by just to see the pretty waiting room. Matt is lucky to have a wonderful, supportive and encouraging wife with whom to partner on this new adventure. His son Sean, daughter Marley and nephew Brandon are also part of his staff helping with all aspects of service and customer relations.

I was a Volvo and ASE Master Technician from 1985 — 2005 when I became the Service Director of Shelly Volvo in Buena Park. Since then I have been managing Dealership Service Departments. I grew frustrated in the way «Big Corporation» auto repair trends shifted from «building a relationship» with clients to «getting the client to fix everything on their vehicle every time» at «dealership» prices. My goal is to return to the days of fixing only what is really needed and establish a relationship with clients, like the past. Wouldn’t it be nice to be greeted by name and feel like you are visiting a friend instead of being a statistic?

Really like it here at Matt’s. I know a little about cars so a lot of times it’s hard to trust some mechanics but I really appreciate Matt’s opinions. Never tries to oversell me on Unneeded work. Not always cheapest but it’s worth the peace of mind not worrying about being taken to the cleaners.

It is not often that I experience outstanding customer service. It is so rare, in fact, that this is the first time I am compelled to write a review to tell others about the great experiences I have had at Matt’s Imports. I have visited Matt’s garage multiple times in the last year and a half or so and have nothing but good things to say about Matt and his entire team. This is what you can expect when visiting Matt’s Imports: consistent customer service, punctuality, fair pricing, and honesty. I had a 13 year old car with a multitude of issues ranging from worn out breaks to a leaky water pump and Matt and his team were able repair the damage without cleaning out my wallet. I finally traded in my old car for something new but I will continue to patron Matt’s Imports for any of my cars mechanical needs.

I have never met such an excellent mechanic, nor one that has as much integrity as Matt. I have a BMW that’s been around a while. Matt cuts to the chase and will tell you exactly what it needs and never, ever tells you your car needs something it doesn’t. Not only does he do excellent work, but he has one of the loveliest dispositions ever. If there were more stars on Unilocal,I’d give them to Matt’s Imports. Check it out. It’s worth your while.

After living in this area for 14 years and continuing to take my 03 Nissan Xterra to my family’s mechanic 30 miles from here, I decided it was time to find a local mechanic, particularly when my «service engine soon» light came on for the first time.
Based on all the positive reviews here, I called and spoke to Paula to set up a time to bring it in. In fact, she was the person I dealt with during every interaction and she was very kind, fun, and helpful.
After diagnosing the issue, Paula called to tell me that their diagnostics indicated the problem was with a knock sensor and that it would cost $ 925 to repair as they only use Nissan parts for my car. After I stopped gasping for air, Paula went on to tell me that they recommend NOT repairing it at this time. They reset the codes to turn off the light and she said that sometimes this electronic part can have a glitch and that rather than throw that much money at it, we could wait to see if the light comes back on. If it does, then they’ll know what it is and we can fix it at that time. She also assured me that this is not something that would cause my car to break down or cause further damage. So with my $ 10 discount for my first-​time check-​in on Unilocal,I paid $ 30 for an oil change. They did not charge for the diagnostic.
I’m not super-​knowledgeable about the inner workings of my car. I have always been diligent about maintaining my cars and doing what is needed to keep them running well. I keep cars for many years and often for well over 200k miles. So while I would have asked other knowledgeable friends about this knock sensor before laying out that kind of money, ultimately, I would have them do what needs to be done. They could have told me that this repair was absolutely necessary and that I would need to spend that money now. But they didn’t. As a result, I will bring my car back to them.

First off, I have a Volvo XC90 (to give a picture of what car they worked on)
My initial reason for coming in about a week ago was to fix my sunroof. Matt was on top of it and worked on it within 4 hours. He even charged me less than the initial numbers because it wasn’t as hard to fix as expected. On top of that, the initial assessment of the car was completely free and they did a regular check up for my vehical, too, which I didn’t even ask for, but definitely appreciated.
So my sunroof actually leaked later when I went to the carwash, but he fixed the problem for free when I told him (which involved clearing the drains of the car). I was going to give a 4 star rating, but then again I shouldn’t expect him to know that I don’t know anything about Volvos. (Supposedly this i a regular problem for volvos with sunroofs) He apologized once I told him because he didn’t tell me. He was so genuine in it I had to give him a 5. I didn’t know this since I’ve never had a Volvo, but now I do so that’s good!
The hospitality and service here is amazing! Paula, at the front desk, is super sweet and will tell you like it is, but in such a loving manner. It is pretty obvious customers are first priority to this company because they are very attentive to your needs, not only for your car, but for you as an individual. For example: I talked about my battery possibly needing a change and Paula was very honest in her opinion about what actions I should take and how it affects my car (since I’ve never had a Volvo before this one). She factored in my financial concerns and the new updates I just had installed. There is no «bs» involved. They really care about their customers.
They continue to share with me more detail about my car which I love because I don’t much at all. There is evidence of such care towards their customers and being that is a family business, you see this unity in their work with one another. I highly recommend coming here for your car. I’m definitely coming back!

Been coming to Matt’s for about 2 years now. I had a 2001 Volvo S80 T6 that he took really good care of. He always asked how long I planned on keeping the car and other questions to make sure he didn’t oversell me on parts and service. Saved me a ton of time and money! I now have a 2013 Jetta SE and am having an oil change and tire rotation done as I type.

Mercedes 2002 /​C240:
This place is great and fair I will not hesitate to bring back my car. Here my Story; had issue with my shift control module. Well I spill soda in it and car would shift into gear at all, so bought a used Shift Module on EBay.
So I installed the used Shift Module into my car I first took it Matt’s Imports Very honest guy.
Matt’s Imports; Owner got up on the Tow Truck before unloading the car to his shop and ran a check with his scanner and determined that I would need to go the dealer or shop which has the advance scanner and programmer needed to program my used shift module. Owner Wife even found and suggested Highline European Motorcars. ALSO NOTE HE NOT CHARGED TO DO THE SCAN ON MY CAR AND SEND MY CAR IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION TO BE REPAIR.
Great and Honest People doing Right for the Customer, not out to make a quick a buck.

I’ve since bought a new car, but with my old car, as Matt use to say, was in «hospice». Matt understood I wasn’t in the position to purchase a new car yet and would only suggested the minimum repairs needed to help keep it running. I appreciate his honesty and genuine care for the cars he operates on. I’m happy to call him my mechanic and always recommend him to my friends and family.

Every time I call, Matt himself picks up and actually listens to everything I have to say. He then does his best to fit me in the same or next day, if at all possible. Not only is he accommodating, professional and very kind, he also is completely transparent regarding all the repairs he will do on your car. Their prices are very competitive and usually quite lower than any other shop I’ve compared them too plus, if he finds other repairs that your car needs, instead of just repairing them first and then giving you a bill for $ 2000 when you expected $ 30 from an oil change, he will talk WITH you about the priority of the repairs, what you might be able to do yourself (if you’re handy with cars vs what you should consider being done by a shop), and will print out a sheet with all his recommended repairs and their respective estimated costs in order of priority.
This place is awesome. They truly care about your car and focus on getting it back to the best state possible. They are family owned. They are honest and very kind. And they do great work! There’s nothing else to consider. Bring your car to Matt!

Just dropped off my wife’s Jetta here for a battery diagnostic and replacement. Really love coming here as Matt presented a few options, gave his perspective, and was overall incredible to speak with (as always)! He’s not charging me labor on the battery replacement (as AAA would have done the same) and Tracy even dropped me off at home a few blocks away.
I’d give ten stars if I could! I really love seeing that great people and businesses like Matt are still around.

I had a family mechanic for years but he retired. Since then I have neglected various fixes my Toyota Prius needed… until I met Matt. The service is excellent, the work was very high quality, and Matt is overall a very good & honest person. While I waited I was able to use their free wifi and make myself a cup of Keurig Coffee.
Car Problem:
— My prius didn’t start fully every time. I had to press the button multiple times.
— Oil Maintenance
— Slight popping in suspension
Matt’s Solution:
— Fixed the faulty starter battery that had a bad cell
— Performed Oil Maintenance
— Told me to not worry about slight popping (it’s normal and not very noticeable) and that it will likely need to be fixed in the future but currently it’s not a problem
Everything was fixed the same day, I didn’t even leave the shop.

Took in my wife’s Volvo S40 and my Infiniti Q40. Great service, very honest mechanic which is a hard to find now and days. Pricing is very fair and works by appointment you don’t have to leave your car there all day or even half the day. Very knowledgeable and I will repeat myself again honest, looks up what your car needs and gives options!
