History

Established in 2006.

K2 Academy of Kids Sports opened it’s doors in 2005 to provide a nurturing athletic environment for children to exercise their bodies and their brains.

We specialize in gymnastics, cheer & tumbling classes for all ages and skills, as well as also offer a competition cheer team and gymnastics team.

In addition to gymnastic, cheer & tumbling classes, We also run a licensed preschool and after school care program that offers flexible hours for busy parents. Day camps and summer camps are also available as well as birthday parties and skill clinics for beginner to experienced athletes.

Business Owner

Kay Rodgers is a former USA Gymnastics Jr. National Team Member, NCA All-​American Cheerleader and Head Cheerleader for Cy-​Fair High School. Kay Rodgers graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Medical Technology. After managing Houston Gymnastics Academy in Bellaire, TX for 4 years, Kay opened K2 Academy of Kids Sports in 2006. K2 began as an 8500 square foot recreational gymnastics center, and has evolved into a 24,000 full service gymnastics, cheer and tumbling facility, for both recreational and competitive athletes, as well as a licensed child care center offering full and part-​time preschool, after school care and summer camp programs.

They are very disorganized and children do not learn much. We had transfered from cypress academy looking for smaller classes and running away from the smell but we are going back. My daughter did not learn anything in the year she was there and in fact regressed. The mini-​olympics was a joke, the instructors had no idea what they were doing, made my child fall on her face and back twice. Run away!

Had a party here for my Daughters 3rd Birthday this past weekend, and the party is the talk of the town! Everyone enjoyed themselves so much, even the parents. Everyone wants to now enroll their child and now try gymnastics. The staff was so helpful and they exceeded beyond my expectations as far as helping guide the party with my wife’s direction, cleanup, taking gift down to the car, and etc.
It was so much fun, my son wants to have his party there!

I have an athletic, energetic, fun-​loving 8 year old who was seeking an exciting place to be for the summer. I searched long and hard for a place that would meet out needs. My search brought me to K2 Academy of Kids Sports. I thought I did all of the proper diligence a parent should do before enrolling a child. Unfortunately, I could not prepare myself for the dangerous environment K2 promotes. This place of business allowed a complete stranger to conduct an interview with my child — without notification to me — without my permission!!! I was notified of the encounter by my child. She was very scared and confused. She thought she had done something wrong. I immediately called K2 for clarification. Courtney, the summer program director, attempted to defend the actions of the academy, citing a false policy that does not require parent notification. This is now a potential ongoing legal matter. Based on this very traumatizing event, I would advise any parent NOT to send your children to this place. K2 WILL NOT PROTECT YOUR CHILD FROM OUTSIDERS. K2 DOES NOT PROVIDE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN. — THIS COULD HAVE BEEN YOUR CHILD.

Our girls, ages 3 and 4, attend the preschool and gymnastics classes at K2. We’ve been there for a few months now and absolutely love it. We are always impressed with their cleanliness. Our girls are always very excited to go and sometimes don’t want to leave.
The pre-​school program does a lot of academics during the day, especially during the school year. They learn all of the typical pre-​school age requirements (number, letter, color recognition & counting for younger children and letter sounds, basic reading, basic addition, etc for 4 – 5 year olds). They do a lot of hands-​on, pre-​school appropriate science experiments and art activities. They have open play in the gym during part of their pre-​school time, which is their favorite part, and they also get time outside.
Another huge plus is K2’s flexible hours. My husband and I work off-​schedules and we are able to use the days of the week and times we need without issue. This was one problem we had with other pre-​schools we looked at.
Their gymnastics program is also awesome. Our 3 year old is in the recreational class for her age and loves it – very fun, hands on, and playful, but all while learning gymnastics skills. Our 4 year old is more serious about gymnastics and is in the pre-​team program twice a week, which is much more focused and less fun & games than the recreational program, but she can’t wait to go every week. Since she’s been going, we can hardly go anywhere without her trying to do cartwheels and handstands. Overall I would highly recommend K2 for both gymnastics and pre-​school.

My twin girls have only been going to Summer Camp for two weeks, but they got acclimated the first day. The staff was helpful and non-​dismissive of my many questions They informed me to bring lunch, a jacket, nap mat, and water bottle. I love that the pre-​k class gets the academic setting and also some structured play in the gym & unstructured play outside. Also weekly, the kids have snow cones & water day as an extra bonus!
Lastly, I like the tadpoles app that emails parents a summary of that day’s activities along with a few pix of your kiddos!
Over all, we’ve been satisfied!

The new building is great! Huge improvement and worth the wait. My son is in all boys class. They stretch with all the students before workout. I want to take advantage of one of the parents night, where they let you drop kid off and they eat and pay there on a Saturday night while parents have a couple hours of alone time. I Have noticed this location caters more to the girls here but this is just a reward for my son for being a good kid. Staff are nice and very attentive. I’ve never seen any of the coaches with their cell phone, which impressed me. I started with k2 after seeing it on Groupon. We’ve been going ever since. The classic in the winter was great and he loved his medal. I would prefer his name on it though. Besides that I like this place and the second story to watch your kid from up top.

This is hands down one of the best gyms for kids I’ve ever seen! They recently moved to a brand new building which is just awesome– with all new equipment, very clean. Great staff and friendly instructors.

I love K2 academy! The staff really cares about the kiddos. I have always felt safe leaving my kiddos in their hands. Super fun and great way to have them get all that energy out. Which is a big deal for the video game and couch potato generation!
