History
Established in 1981.
Our world headquarters is on the small island of Cuttyhunk, MA. The Dashing Seth Garfield started the company in 1981 with the support of his beautiful wife Dorothy Garfield. Together they have developed and created a multi-faceted, nationwide known business, selling and cultivating the Cuttyhunk Oyster®. Throughout the years, things have changed and now only cultivate the American Oyster, Crassostrea virginica. This bivalve grows in nets that are suspended in a tidal salt water pond on the West End of the island. The company has grown to do catered weddings, parties and celebrations consisting of raw bars, lobster bakes and our famous Floating Raw Bar within the harbor of Cuttyhunk Island. It’s a magical experience. Oyster lovers can not deny the excitement and freshness of having oysters harvested that morning, shucked in front of them and all beside their boat watching the beautiful sunset over Churches Beach.

Business Owner
Seth has been cultivating oysters for the last 33 years on the small island of Cuttyhunk. He recently received his masters from Massachusetts Maritime Academy in emergency management and is now working at north east maritime institute to create a community college program in aquaculture. The business is thriving on Cuttyhunk. We are open Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day. Seth works almost every weekend all year round to bring the freshest oysters to local restaurants and for his own use in catering and raw bar events.
