Premier Off Campus Textbooks

0 stars for their service but 1 star for their cheaper prices compared to the De Anza bookstore.
I came here buy a used lab manual. I was using my phone to refer to my professor’s email for the lab schedule and experiments to make sure that the used manual had all of the experiments I need for this quarter. The elderly man told me I «couldn’t take pictures». I explained to him I was just making sure that all of the pages I needed were there, and he said it was okay. Then the woman with shorter dark hair came walking down the hallway accusing me of my camera going off. It wasn’t and I tried to defend myself but all she did was tell her coworker «Mike» that I was taking pictures.
I’d rather pay more money for books than deal with hostile service. I won’t be returning. Your service is terrible and your workers are very rude!

Came here to look for a book for an on-​line course, only met by this mean looking woman in black with a slight non-​American accent, asked her a question hoping to save time to avoid looking around. She was so snotty that she immediately made you feel you are that small. «We only carry books for De Anza» blah, blah, blah. I feel like telling her De Anza is no Harvard so she does not have to be so snotty. But I did not want to waste my energy so I went across the street and got my book. If I were the boss, I fire her in an instant. She obvious feels very miserable being there.

I came in to sell used books in which most of them were not accepted; I understand some books will not be taken. However, Angela was awfully rude and condescending to me. I understand it’s not her fault books will not be accepted, but I initially was greeted by «the person who does that isn’t here», and then every time she would scan a book she kept commenting, «nope-​nope-​nope» almost like a child bantering. Also she would say «we don’t buy old editions». The entire time she was unhelpful and snobby. I would never come back here just based on how her customer service was.
It’s interesting that classes I just got done taking only weeks prior are now old editions-​college text books are a scam. My two stars are NOT because the store would not accept my books, but because she was so rude! I didn’t reply or say anything to elicit her attitude. I saw on the way out the store closed in about ten minutes-​this isn’t an okay excuse for one minute worth of work, but perhaps it is why she has such bad attitude.

If I can rate this fantastic bookstore 10 Stars I would! That is how awesome the customer service is plus the great selection of books you need. This is the ONLY Bookstore you De Anza Students need to go to!

Cheaper books than at deanza. That is what this place has going for it. But that’s where it stops. There is a older lady that works there, she is extremely rude. I don’t recommend this place because of the rude lady and other rude staff, which is a shame because it is a good place for cheaper books. Bad customer service.

This place has saved me HUNNIDSSSSSS over the years of attending de anza. without a doubt this place is always cheaper than the de anza book store. The lines are extremely long the first few days of course, so give yourself a lot of time to be able to wait in a long line. They have helpful workers to assist you in looking for your books to save you a little time. They also have dates posted for refunds so double check on that if you’re not sure of keeping a class/​book.

Honestly the books are affordable than the ones in deanza. But really the staffs are rude. The lady who always ties her hair in a bun is so condescending and snobby. I never met anyone so rude in my life this was in the morning, I’m tired too you know… you could tell she was going to be bitchy by her face. She said «that’s MY pen» I know. I was going to place it down, but she spoke too soon. She was being rude to me when i asked her a question of when are you guys buying back books, and she seemed so angry not wanting to answer my question. Then she said, «ok i’ll call him over so you can sell your book» and then she tries to embarass me by yelling «SHES COMING SHES OCOMING.» Wow a good historic story.

Back in my De Anza days, I would stop by here to buy books because they are cheaper than the bookstore at De Anza. Staff has always been really helpful and friendly. It does help to have the class, and professors name and possibly the book name as well. If not, the workers can help you find the book. If not, the store is really organized so you could easily find it yourself as well.
I also made money selling my textbooks back to the store.

Not so sure how they’re getting bad reviews. They’re so friendly and helpful! Immediately when I walked in, they greeted me and offered to help me find my books. (You should probably have the book name and professor’a name, much faster to find) If you’re planning to buy books from here, I suggest you to come ASAP, most books are already gone!

If you go to De Anza, this bookstore accommodates almost if not all books for De Anza classes. The employees help you find the books you need. It’s helpful to come prepared knowing the class and professors’ name, but even then they provide adequate customer service. The books cost less than in the on-​campus bookstore and it’s not a far walk away from the main campus. I highly recommend this place; it is definitely worth looking at if you’re looking to save some money.

There is a wide selection of used textbooks (and books) that are in good to very good condition. This local business does not deserve it’s poor rating! The same books needed for De Anza classes are much more affordable here in comparison to the DA bookstore; this is partially because it doesn’t have a contract with book publishing companies (…and maybe because this local shop isn’t out to get students with ridiculous textbook prices!!)
I had a chat with an older man who is likely the owner of this place. He told me how he’s struggling to make ends meet, and how times are difficult for bookstores that sell/​buy back used textbooks. I agree. So sad.
HELP OUT LOCAL BUSINESSES MY FELLOW STUDENTS!

My family has been buying books from this store for years for elementary school and high school. Therefore, at the end of the year I’m left with a load of books I don’t need that has the premier sticker on the back. I called ahead of time and asked them if I could sell back my books that I had bought from them. They said yes. I drove all the way to the store, which is not close to my house, with all the books expecting to receive some money back from them for their books. They asked me which high school I was selling back from and then proceeded to tell me that I couldn’t sell back my books and they were no longer purchasing from high schools. If this place is a buying and selling book establishment I am bewildered that they wouldn’t buy back the books that I had previously bought from them. Plus they practically brand their books with stickers on the back which will make it hard to sell to other places. Not to mention the fact that there was no mention of any stipulation of buy backs on the phone. Something should have been mentioned about that on the phone. I had been extremely happy with this place in the past but now remain unhappy with the buy back service specifically.

While i was looking up the booklist, a friendly employee asked if I needed help and promptly located 2 of the 3 books I needed. The third wasn’t in stock because it was fairly new at the time. This place has cheap books without the shipping time wait. Pretty much as good as it gets as far as I’m concerned.

I can buy books on Amazon, I don’t need Premier Books, but I thought I’d be good to a local store and buy from them for my son’s high school books. However, NEVER AGAIN. The woman with the long black hair is rude. I should not feel so bad after entering a local store. I WILL continue to buy from the used book store in downtown Campbell (408−370−3514), but I will NEVER again enter Premier. I’m also a parent advisor to incoming freshman at my son’s school and will no longer recommend this lousy rude store. I should say the 50-​ish man there is very nice, and he deserves a better boss!

I really like Premier. It definitely beats the prices at the campus bookstore, and there are rentals for those who don’t like clutter. I’ve come here for years now, and I’ve never encountered an issue so I don’t understand why the ratings are so low at this place. The staff here is chill, and they are very helpful. They approach you to ask if you need help with anything, and they are approachable too. They do email you when you have something to return, and sometimes, those emails don’t go through, but honestly, it’s your own responsibility to turn your rentals in on time. When you rent something, they have you sign a contract, and you get a copy of that so an email is just a favor for you. I believe their polices are fair. I’ll keep coming to Premier as long as I need school books!

If l write a comment with NO star and I would do that for sure. Stop by store to rent text book. But they middle age lady seems very snooty. When I asked her question and she not only pay no attention and yet look outside.
Understood, we student stop by there for renting books but we do not deserve that kind of treatment though. If she don’t feel like be there during the weekend then FUCK OFF!

This place ain’t that great. I rented a book for a class and they told me I cannot highlight on the book or write. This took me by surprise all the books I have ever rented or anything I could. Just ridiculous. Better online or bookstore.

If I could give no stars or half of a star I would. I got a charge on my credit card from premier bookstore from not returning a rental book on time.
Many of you who go to premier KNOW that when you rent out a book the cashier asks you for all of your information so they can SEND OUT AND EMAIL WHEN YOUR BOOK IS DUE BACK. I did NOT receive and email from then, hence the charge on my card.
When I called premier to explain my issue the woman on the phone I talked to said «We don’t send out emails to customers when their book is due because the date is on the back of the book.» Well maybe you should tell you employers to NOT say that to customers. When I heard this it made me very angry and I repeatedly said to her that they have always told me that they will send out an email. She then asked me for my email address and I gave it to her. She then said «oh yes we have that email so we must have sent you an email. Maybe check your spam»
I check my email daily and I check all my folders. It was not there. I am very DISPLEASED with the service that I have gotten this time around and I do NOT want to return to their bookstore for such rude behavior.

two stars for the prices which are pretty good… but what’s up with the staff? They always are rude and unfriendly. It’s like they are always so irritable. They make shopping there a «Get in, buy, get out asap» experience. Also, the buyback isn’t all that great. Your better off selling them online. Come here on occasion, but be careful

Sure they buy back at great prices. but there is one thing that really annoys me about this store that makes me avoid it as much as possible.
Customer Service, OVER THE PHONE.
I had called to ask if they were accepting a book, or if it was even the latest edition, and all they kept saying was «We don’t do sales over the phone».
I told them I’m not trying to get a quote price, I’m just trying to see if you will even consider the books I’m trying to sell back, I will even give ISBN number, and they just said «Sorry you have to come in.»
So I went into the store and guess what?
first book was not latest edition so they said no, and the other they had too many of, so I wasted about an hour of my time when they could have just asked for ISBN checked and said NO. This was beginning of Spring Quarter
A couple days ago I decided to try again (because I live far from it,) I called, and I got same type of responses so I decided forget it, I’m not even going to go in.
Why cant they just say over the phone if there is even possibility of buying the book back?
