This place is awesome! The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Wine tastings for $ 10 – 15 depending on the option that you want. I can honestly say that I learned about wine/food parings during the tasting. My friend and I were not disappointed and we came out knowing what kinds of wine we liked! We hiked about 2 miles from the area near Via Services West Campus through the zinfandel trail and ended up at the winery. It was an amazing way to rest and«fuel» up for the hike back! They have live music during the summer and other events. Plan accordingly and you may be able to drink some wine, have a picnic, and enjoy some live entertainment. The wine selection is amazing, and my friend and I were impressed with how tasty all of the wines were.

Four stars because I love the fact that this place has a great outdoor picnic area and colorful, beautiful roosters running around(I didn’t get to see the other animals that are featured in other Unilocaler’s pictures). I love the fact that the wine tasting area is set up in a barn like setting it’s super cute and cozy. The wine was not the greatest that I have ever had and it was also a little pricey. This place gets busy so the employees won’t have as much time to spend on you as they are getting pulled in different directions.

Finally made it to Picchetti! Nestled in the hills of Cupertino by a huge reservoir and many obscure trails, my friend and I decided to hike up to Picchetti from the parking area of Stevens Creek Reservoir(google it if you want to hike up to Picchetti). The hike didn’t take too long, it was more of a could-be-dangerous-for-pedestrians-walk of about 8 – 10 minutes one way if you walk with purpose. There’s also parking up at the winery, as well as many other attraction points like livestock(we saw roosters and peacocks), educational kiosks about the history of Picchetti – which btw goes WAYYYYY back. And of course, the red-brick winery itself twinkling with crystal-colored Christmas lights overhead. Their wines are all on the dry side, which might turn people off. BUT it totally fits my palate. I love their wide selection of wine(mostly reds), but they did have pinot grigio, viognier(my favorite), and an estate white blend, as well as malbec, zin, and cab franc. I took home a bottle of Rose, and would have also loved to take some Viognier and Malbec home. BUT alas, we didn’t drive up… so I didn’t want to risk anything on our downhill back to the parking area. I’d totally recommend locals and even tourists to come by Picchetti. We did stop by on a weekday when there was only one winetender pouring… his name was«Smiler» he told us. And he was quite English and extreeeeemely educated about wine, Picchetti, and just had that dazzling warm smile! I can see why it gets busy, but that’s why you have to find the time to stop by when it isn’t crazy packed! I love it here, and there are definitely talking points about this area – like the dent in the corner of the barn which was affected by the SF 1906! Insane. Get Smiler if you can/want to be educated while you drink. And sip away while you admire your surroundings. Fabulous spot and fabulous service.

Love coming here. We have been wine club members here for a couple of years now. Sometimes we bring friends and family for tasting or you can do a bottle and a picnic. We also enjoy hiking and coming back for a picnic. Some weekends are super busy or they have an event. Overall we enjoy this place and always enjoy the wines.

Since it was a rainy Saturday this past weekend we thought we’d check out a local winery. I didn’t realize there were so many wineries right in our backyard. Picchetti is a beautiful rustic setting, tons of picnic tables that you could enjoy on a nice day. $ 10 for the classic tasting, $ 15 for the premier tasting. Both tastings include 5 wines of your choosing, the only difference is that with the premier tasting you can taste anything on the wine tasting menu. For every bottle of wine you buy, you get $ 5 credit for your tasting, so if you end up buying a couple bottles your tasting is essentially free. They were packed so it took 5 – 10 minutes before someone noticed us and started our tasting but we were in no hurry so we didn’t mine. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about both the wines and the winery. I loved the look of the tasting room, which is well over 100 years old! I look forward to coming back when the weather warms up so we can enjoy a picnic lunch on the grounds!

My wife and I visited this winery over the weekend and really loved the tasting room experience. The room is open and offers several tasting stations. The tasting room is set in a restored barn which adds a nice touch and wonderful smells. We purchase 2 x $ 15 tasting flights to try the more exclusive wines. We ended up loving the Cabernet and purchased a bottle. The Chardonnay was also delicious(vanilla and oak notes were fantastic!). Great winery in our backyard! We will definitely be back to enjoy the trails and do another wine tasting in the spring.

Love this Winery. Joined the Club a year ago while visiting from Texas and sampling one of their wines at a party. We had to visit and sample more during a wine tasting at the recommendation of our host. We are back again in the area over the holidays so we visited once last month and again today introducing additional family members. The Winery offers club members free tastings once a month up to four people. Mattie is awesome explaining the various vintages. One of the wines today was the Port. It was so good we shipped a few bottles back to Texas. Will be back again the next time we are back in the area.

The wines were meh, and I didn’t like the«pay first» experience. The winery is quite nice. We saw lots of people having a picnic outside. You can’t compare this to the wine country, so I give it a 3-star…

Used to be better with detailed descriptions and laid back atmosphere, but its popularity might have ruined a bit of what made it so appealing. There is a nice walk behind the grounds, and the grounds itself have hens, roosters and even a peacock! There are picnic tables throughout where you can enjoy a newly purchased bottle with store bought or personally brought cheese and other foods. Rustic. The wines are good. But I didn’t appreciate our person asking our group to squeeze together every five minutes for a total of four times in order to make room for the newer crowds coming. We weren’t taking up a large space to begin with, and in the end had to push some of our own group members away from the bar, forcing them to stand behind the rest of us. We also had to wait much much longer for the next tasting as our person got distracted, focusing primarily on the newer crowds.

Great Winery I visited while out in the Bay area with my family. It provided for a nice lunch afternoon while sipping on some local wines. They pride themselves on 100 years of Picchetti winemaking tradition using grapes form the Montebello Mountains in their craftsmanship. The tasting room provided for a small intimate atmosphere that seemed like something out of Pinterest that would be perfect for a wedding, reception, or any type of celebratory occasion. After checking out the grounds and entering the room, we were greeted and told the options we had for tasting. We can either try a flight for a reasonably $ 10-$ 15 depending on the types OR we could try a small 1 ounce pour of everything for those prices which is what I decided to do. Starting with champagne, going to whites, red, and ports I tried everything they had to offer as I got slightly buzzed throughout the afternoon. I particularly loved their merlot and house red, but I am biased for being a red wine drinker. The bottles themselves look great, and being a sucker for marketing, I was super tempted to buy one. or 5! Picchetti has a great vibe to it, not to mention everyone working there is proud and humble about what they do which can really add to any business. When we were all done, we had some great photo ops for the family which the staff was more than welcome to help us with!

The grounds and aesthetic of this winery is 5 stars. The lighting is pretty, the floor of the tasting room is spacious, and there are plenty of park benches outside complete with peacocks roaming the area! That being said the service itself was not wonderful. We arrived 10 minutes after they opened and started our tasting($ 10pp for a general and $ 15 for the premium). We opted for the premium so we could taste every wine on the menu. Everything started out nice, but then more people started coming in and things got very busy. At times, we wondered if our host forgot about us entirely. We didn’t have time to ask questions, as he was essentially giving the same script per wine in rapid succession — jumping from group to group and disappearing for long periods of time. While I understand that this is a business, and they have many customers to attend to, I also wonder why management hasn’t hired another staff member so that tasters could receive better service. My girlfriends and I didn’t like feeling like we were getting strong armed into tasting things that we already said we’d rather skip. We didn’t feel free to ask a question or two about the products because the staff member wasn’t even looking at us. He was frantically glancing at the other groups with their empty glasses and just waiting to finish his pour so he could run back over to the other side of the table. We were often left wondering when the staff would return. The tasting experience itself vacillated between rushed and neglected. Shame since some of the wines were very drinkable and the surroundings were very beautiful.

They are very proud of their name, and their claim to old vines. Our tasting room attendant told story after story about how exceptional they were for reasons x, y, and z… But then when we tasted the wines they really weren’t exceptional at all. Some were ok/drinkable, others I poured out right away. Nothing was good enough to be bought and brought home. It is a pretty winery, I’d recommend as a spot to either rent out the building to throw a nice party under the twinkly lights or as a spot to picnic outside.

If there’s one place that can make me a wine convert and a wine club member, it is Picchetti! Been here twice on a hike and wine outing via Zinfandel trail and it was so rewarding to end the hike with a bottle of wine. There are picnic tables on the lawn. Be sure to pack some cheese and crackers and you’re all set. If you hiked to Picchetti Winery don’t forget that you have to hike back to the trail head so don’t drink too much!!!

I recently attended a wedding here in October. It started at 5pm, so we were able to watch the ceremony during the day and enjoy the reception at night. The ceremony was beautiful. The winery makes for a great backdrop and has a lovely view. Just beware of bugs as I saw many people swatting aways flies, etc, during the ceremony. Even the bride let out a small Unilocal because a bug had flown right next to her. Being allergic to bites, I brought an off fan to repel them, so I was okay. During the reception, they served 3 wines: Merlot, Cabernet sauvignon and Zinfandel. I tried the merlot and cab. The cab was my fav, so I drank that the majority of the night. For dinner, they set up tables outside and hung lights. It had a really romantic setting. The end of the night moved indoors for dancing. It got a little chilly, so I’m glad they moved the party inside. They space was set up for a dance floor and DJ. There was also cake cutting and a really cute dessert table set up. Chairs were placed around the dance floor for those who just wanted to sit and people watch. I believe they also opened the bar in here for those who wanted more wine. Parking was a little challenging, but I think there’s another lot down a small unmarked path. You’ll see what looks like a wine barrel in the main lot marking the start of it. We didn’t see it until after we parked the car. From what I saw, this is a pretty modest sized winery. Nice option for a smaller intimate wedding.

Can’t believe this was in my backyard for 20 years and I never went. Many coworkers have raved about Picchetti’s wine, so I took my friend who also didn’t know about this place she lived near her entire life! It has an old rustic feel, and the employees here are incredibly friendly and loyal to Picchetti. Smiler was pouring our wine, and we had a choice of 5 from a list of over a dozen, and the rose was by far our favorite! Many picnic tables outside, and normally they have a food truck and music, but with a wedding later that day, they were unable to have them there. Great pit stop after a hike as well! Would definitely be back for some rose here! $ 20 for a bottle, very reasonable!

Perfect picnicking grounds with peacocks and roosters to hang out with! Came here for the VIP tour given by Smiler and it was a wonderful experience. First thing we did was saber a champagne bottle which super awesome. Maybe I’ll try it at home one day but while wearing a welding mask! This winery has great history and is a beautiful backdrop and event venue. It’s a must see if you’re doing a small tour of Montebello wine country. Picchetti used to actually provide grapes for Ridge which is just up the street and is another must visit if you like wine history, Bottleshock, or a great view. The wine at Picchetti is not the greatest that I’ve tasted, but I must say the Mission Angelica is the most unique wine I’ve ever had and will certainly blow your socks off!

Went to a wedding reception here, trail from San Jose is windy and fun for driving enthusiasts. Wine was alright, steak was more medium than I’d like but the atmosphere of the place is what stands out. Open space for mingling after dinner, peacocks and roosters roaming, a rustic country setting near trendy Cupertino — great for a wedding!

What an awful experience… We wasted a good 25 minutes of our life here! Our day started off well, we finished up our 11:00AM tour and tasting at Ridge, then decided to come here based on the close proximity, hearsay and Unilocal reviews. It turned out to be a big mistake! We paid for our tastings waited for a good 5 — 10 minutes before even getting acknowledged. The guy behind the counter was overwhelmed, going back and forth between the people that were already there… which is fine and understandable… after all they were there before us and I didn’t expect him to abandon them in order to assist us. After he finally acknowledged us, he put 3 glasses in front of us for tastings, then stated he was going to get some help from the back. Another 5 minutes went by… nothing. Eventually a young lad comes out and proceeds to serve 3 groups that came after us! Um…we are not invisible! Me, my loud Italian buddy and a blonde girl. Another 5 minutes goes by, not even an acknowledgment from the the new guy… even though we were right in front of him. We never got served! Finally my buddy asks«Wanna get out of here?» Over whelming consensus was… well, yes! Actually more like… hell ya! We had to first find the cashier so we could ask for a refund, who in a rather surprised tone asked us «He didn’t pour you any wine yet?» Ummm…what do you think?! Genius!!! We came in here 20 minutes ago… In summary we never tasted any wines, waited around, were ignored and people that came after us got served… I’m not sure why this place has such high ratings…
