My goal here in the studio is to support the creative process for all students by providing an environment free of judgment with access to the highest quality materials, tools, equipment, and technical knowledge. My teaching style promotes self-confidence, problem-solving, and a sense of «I can do it!» in my students.

History

Established in 1998.

I opened my art studio in Cupertino for kids and adults after teaching private art classes and teaching art in several public and private schools. I decided that it would be nice to have students working in my studio. I think that my place offers a unique experience for students because you are learning in an artist’s studio. My students get to see and experience me working along with them. They feel like they are artists and have ownership of the space… as one student said, «this feels like our studio!»

Initially I taught only a few days after school and about a dozen summer «camps;» as my daughter grew older and more independent, I added classes/media that I love to work with and teach. Currently I offer classes during the year in 10 media. After school classes are offered with the youngest students (Grade 1 – 3) on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday (Grades 3 – 6), and Thursday and Friday (Grades 6 – 12). Summer classes («camps») are offered June-August. Adults AM & weekends.

Business Owner

I have been teaching since 1974 and I love being an art teacher for children and adults. Art has been my lifelong passion, but family influence did not support art as a career so I «briefly» took a different path, getting my PhD and teaching college as a tenured faculty member for a number of years. Following the birth of my daughter, I retired from college teaching and started a 15 year stint as a Let’s Look At Art Volunteer for the San Jose Museum of Art. From this volunteer position I was asked to teach art in a couple of Cupertino (CUSD) schools which I loved. During this time I also did an after school program for the Jewish Day School in Belmont/Foster City, workshops for R.A.F.T., various other teacher workshops, Exploration Days, where people from different professions/careers come and present their work to elementary school children. I regularly attend art workshops/courses at place like Haystack (in Maine), Cabrilllo College, Mendocino Art Center, etc.
