Peak Physical Therapy

I am very pleased with every aspect of Peak Physical Therapy for the treatment of hip soreness. On my first visit, Kelsey diagnosed my problem as a result of poor posture and how I walk, which resolved my original issue. Over the course of 10 visits, she identified two other issues with my hip, which were cleared up with her suggested changes and therapy. Before my treatments, I would have soreness in my hip after walking for 20 minutes. I can now go on 3-​hour hikes with no issues.
I also had no issues with insurance problems, which is nice.
I should add that I just walked in to get treatment for my hip. I had no prescription from a doctor (which most people don’t know is allowed).

I am so pleased to go ahead and share my wonderful experience at Peak Physical Therapy. Let me start off with the reason why I attended therapy. August 2015 I had injured my lower back in a weightlifting incident from crossfit which left me feeling hopeless. I felt as if my back was done at a young age because everytime I would try to lift something my back would flare up again. I am the kind of person to do deep research on a facility before attending it because I want a high quality place taking care of something of mine as serious as a back. Finally, I chose Peak physical therapy because of the way the facility was laid out. It was clean every time I was in there, always friendly staff everytime I was in there (even the volunteers were incredibly polite), very organized and plenty of space to take care of your injury, etc… The list goes on and on. I absolutely loved attending this facility! I was actually slightly bummed when I was finally done with treatment because I really enjoyed the people that worked there; especially my PT Garrett. Garrett was very straight forward with me about everything and understood everything I was trying to explain to him thanks to his knowledge and many years of experience. We worked through a whole program that he designed that really helped me get back on track and at the same time boost my confidence back up so that I wasn’t afraid to get back into it. I’m extremely thankful for Garrett and Peak physical therapy and I would recommend them to any one of my family and friends any day of the week!

Genevieve is a miracle worker! She cured my daughter’s TMJ in just a few weeks.

Simply the best physiotherapist i have ever been too, and i have been to more than 20 due to different injuries!

I love this place. I saw Valerie a couple of years ago for a knee problem. The exercises she taught me really helped and I went from walking around with a limp to being able to run again. She is also very warm and friendly and I enjoy interacting with her. All of the staff there seems nice. Recently, when I started having issues with my back, I asked my doctor if I could return to Peak and I’m so glad I did because I’m already feeling much better.

Peak is the best place for athletes to go for therapy. I have gone to Peak for post operations for my shoulder, and foot. I have also gone for strengthening my knees and back (sports take a toll, but its worth it). I am currently finishing up my post-​op therapy for my shoulder with Garrett.
Garrett’s ability to assess what is going on and what needs to be accomplished is the reason why Peak is so great. I had moments where I felt I could do anything and Garret was there to tell me otherwise. He also makes sure that my form is proper and that I’m not taking any shortcuts in my work out. His communication with my orthopedics specialist goes a long way when i have follow-​up appointments as well!
Another great part about working with Garrett is he challenges you and makes sure your progress is «real» and not «inflated». After going to therapy for a while, some of the workouts «appeared» easy; however Garrett will throw curveballs that will catch you off guard and it displays your «real» progress. An example of this is when he tests my shoulder to respond to sudden impact. I would lay on my back with my arm in the air and have to keep it in the same spot as he would come at it from many angles and try to move it. I thought that was getting easy until he made me do it standing up using a thera-​band to increase the challenge. I was not as strong as I thought I was.
Garret always challenges you to show improvement WITHOUT hurting yourself. The entire staff is awesome at Peak from the front desk (Audrey and Claire), to the PT helpers (Spencer, Brandon, and Dan). If you are an athlete, you will enjoy your rehab time here at Peak.

Came in with what I thought was a knee injury, and Conrad was immediately able to tell that it was more likely an issue with my hip. After a few tests, he confirmed it and did a few massages. He also provided me with some stretching exercises to do at home, and I was cleared for my triathlon race (only 4 days away!) that I had been so arduously training for. I’m impressed at how knowledgeable he was and how quickly he was able to identify the real problem. Highly recommended!

Garrett is the Man.
He troubleshooted my Achilles issue last fall and got me on a routine that helped heal the lower legs and got me back on the running wagon.
I’ve even signed up for another 50 mile run thanks to Peak. Woohoo!

This review is for Genevieve who has been helping me with my TMJ issues for the past 4 months. She’s very knowledgeable and knows exactly what needs to be done for every problem that I’ve had so far. She’s great at adjusting the PT session to suit each individual’s needs and is always looking for new things to try. She’s also kind and encouraging.
Yes, the sessions are quite a bit more expensive than the ones that I’ve had at other places but the benefits have been proportionate to the price and I find that I do not mind.

If you have «cadillac» health insurance or your deductible is low and the location is convenient sure, go for it. However I happen to have a high deductible health plan and it does matter what they charge. They couldn’t tell me up front what the cost would be, I was shocked to find out that the first three visits costed almost $ 300 each. My health provider limits the charge to $ 98/​day each but they sneakily billed as 3 separate items for each date. The treatment I got was nothing special and at other similar providers for similar services I have paid from $ 60-​$ 75. I’m happy to pay extra for quality service but surely not this much. I believe the doctor visits I made for my condition cost less. After the 3^rd visit the billing was more honest, or at least they figured they couldn’t try to milk the insurance anymore. In any case, as I was trying to get these amounts corrected and explained that they were billing over the allowed amount the attendant was very unsympathetic and refused to schedule more visits until I paid the amount in full, and therefore my treatment was interrupted. I ended up getting the amounts corrected only after many months of going back and forth with the insurance forcing them to resubmit the charges and adjust. It was a big headache.
The treatment was good but not stellar, and the therapist knowledgeable and competent, despite some communication issues but this might have been a personality conflict, so I prefer not to mention this person by name. But talk to your therapist and make sure you can get along before committing to treatment.
So once again, if you are paying out of pocket or happen to have a high deductible look elsewhere. Most other PT’s I’ve dealt with are able to tell you how much they will charge you up front, or at least a ballpark.

Been getting treated by Conrad Young for a lower back issue. My treatment has been pretty decent and the exercises I’ve learned have been useful. Conrad also introduced me to some new techniques, such as taping my back to help with posture that were refreshing.
One thing they can do better — Peak PT doesn’t allow patients to drop in and get ice and electric treatment outside of appointment times. I wish they’d allow this. It’s not a big sap on resources.

I was referred to Peak after suffering from a broken jaw and subsequent TMJ pain and limited range of motion. I saw Genevieve for PT and was so impressed by her thorough knowledge, compassion and gentle yet effective technique. My only regret is that I wish I had found her sooner. My range of motion increased considerably and my pain and clicking/​popping/​grinding decreased considerably. She’s an absolute expert at what she does and an all around caring and wonderful lady to boot. I’ve been to PT at several different practices over the years and Peak is the most professional, courteous and knowledgeable office I’ve ever encountered all around. Thank you for everything!

I have only been here once, but I felt like Genevieve had so much more expertise than all the therapists (at my last physical therapy clinic) combined! She knows her stuff. I am so glad I found her because I was ready to give up on physical therapy all together. I would recommend her to anyone having low back pain.

I went to Peak PT for my herinated discs, protusion disc and stenosis and was in pretty bad shape going in. Garrett worked on me and got me back to baseline. I am extremely pleased with the treatment I received there. I really appreciate his expertise, attentiveness and willingness to work for your best outcome. The PT is always professional, clean and courteous. I would recommend this place.

I received treatment for 2 months for a compressed nerve in my neck that was sending tingling down my arm. My therapist Valerie was very professional and knowledgable, and as an added bonus, very fun to work with. She pinpointed the problem immediately and was able to teach me how to align myself properly to relieve the tingling in my arm – all on the first day. I was so grateful! When I was done with my sessions, I felt confident that I could continue my exercises at home and continue to improve. The entire staff is friendly and the facility is always very clean. I highly recommend Peak Physical Therapy and Valerie Jackson!

As a recreational runner, I received treatment from Garrett between May through Dec of 2013 for severe shin splint issues I had. Garrett is versed in sports therapy and conditioning and has given me effective deep tissue massages and various rehab/​strength exercises to do at the facility and at home for my lower legs as well as the core area (with emphasis on strengthening the glutes and hips). He also gave me recommendations on products I could purchase and use at home as well as excellent advice to prevent recurring injuries.
The entire staff at Peak Physical Therapy is very friendly, the facility is always clean and welcoming, and I did not mind driving far from my home to come here as this place came highly recommended by a friend of mine who is a PA, and i’m glad I went!

My experience at PEAK PT has been absolutey fantastic. The scheduling was extremely flexible and they made an attempt to work around my schedule. I have received treatment twice. Once for a sports /​overuse injury (IT Band and Achilles issues) and once for an accident (broken finger). Peak offers something for everyone whether you are a high-​level athlete or just a regular person with an injury. I was treated by Garrett and he knows his stuff. It is very helpful that he is an athlete himself and he even works for the SJ Sharks! Another proof for me that he is an excellent PT. But I also like the rest of the facility. There is enough room to stretch, foamroll, exercise etc. They have all the equipment necessary. The treatment was precise and ust what I needed. They don’t waste your time with lots of stuff you don’t need. Easy parking in front and right off the freeway. Very clean and spacious facility. The athletic feel if the clinic motivated me to get better.

I had spent over a year training for AIDS/​LifeCycle but I injured myself 6 weeks before the event. My orthopedic surgeon referred me to Garrett @ Peak PT. Garrett is an elite triathlete, so he was very much able to get to the bottom of my problem. With his help I was able to get back in the saddle by the time of the big ride and was able to do 454 miles of the 545 miles of AIDS/​LifeCycle 2013. I owe him big time!

I was sent to Peak at the beginning of the year due to issues with my TMJ. I was told to see «Gretchen» from a TMJ specialist and let me say, she was fantastic! We made great strides and I am able to maintain the progress we made on my own at home now. I went in with very little ability to even open my mouth, and now have close to full range of motion back! She was kind, funny and overall made me feel VERY comfortable. Scheduling was easy and I had no issues during my time there.
If I could rate the therapist and front office staff in one review and the billing department in another, I would! And trust me, the ONLY reason Peak has 4 stars is because Gretchen was THAT amazing. Dealing with the billing department has been the biggest nightmare I have had to endure when trying to get medical care covered. It is October and I am STILL trying to get them to bill my insurance accurately. I continue to get bills from them for differing amounts. I then call my insurance to figure out why they aren’t paying it and my insurance company says «they never submitted it to us». I then call Peak, they say «ok, we’ll re-​submit» and I get another bill with a different amount a month or two later. I have repeated this same process again and again. I literally JUST got off the phone with my insurance company and AGAIN Peak has sent me an «adjusted» bill, but never actually submitted it to my insurance!
To summarize — Gretchen is GREAT if you need physical therapy for TMJ issues. However, be ready to fight to get them to bill correctly… for MONTHS.

I have NEVER dealt with such an inexperienced, lost therapist! Words could not BEGIN to describe the experience I had at this place. Do yourself a favor, save the time, $ and frustration and go somewhere else! AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL!!!
