Carol’s background is a software engineer. After getting her BS degree in Computer Science from New Mexico State University, she moved to California and worked at Amdahl, Versatec, and Hewlett-Packard.

Now a freelance web developer, for her first clients Carol created HTML websites and JSP photo upload and search applications. Later she created PHP/MySQL web applications such as modules for a Content Management System; calendar and progress bar for an online patient diary, and of course, PHP websites.

For the last few years she’s been using content management systems to create e-commerce websites, PhpBB forums and Joomla websites including photo galleries, custom forms, resource pages, FAQ pages, image rotators, RSS feeds, etc. Coming soon: blogs!

I manage a website for a small political organization here in Silicon Valley. Carol was introduced to me by my ISP a year or so ago. Carol did an outstanding job moving our website from a very old version of Joomla to the most current version. At the same time, she modernized the site with many improvements to the ‘look and feel’ that made the site more intuitive .She also worked with me to improve my skills in editing the site as well as help with online forms and PayPal. I have been working with Carol for several years, she listened to what I had in mind, follow the look & feel design to create attractive web pages. She organizes the site with CSS and code that is clean, clear & easy to maintain. She used for us third-party software to speed the implementation (Tectite Formmail), and came up to speed on a new technology required by us, like .ics calendar entry file format, which we just implemented in very short time. She is a good communicator, recording all the details, able to explain to people who are not familiar or flaunt in HTML, PHP & other code what she had done.

My company recently had a web developer quit on us in a middle of two projects, so I had to frantically find a replacement to complete the websites.
Carol was able to pick up the work right where the other developer left off. She used Joomla! to update various pages and breezing forms, and she also created new photo albums for us which were better than what the previous developer had done.
She and I talked extensively during the project. She always answered me right away and responded to my needs effectively.
Carol is also very fair with billing. She charges her full hourly rate for things that she is comfortable doing/has done before, but if there is something that is expanding her horizons a little bit so she has to do some research, etc. she only charges half her hourly rate. This is great for both parties because the client gets a better product and Carol is able to learn something new on the job.
