UPDATE — Was contacted by business owner/manager regarding my experience and while what happened happened, I was very impressed with the speed in which they got in contact with me and their understanding of the situation. Their commitment to customer service was pretty evident in their communication with me and in light of that, I am adding a couple stars as it would be unfair when they have made an effort to make things right. Whether or not I add more would depend on subsequent visits. Note: I did not receive nor accept any sort of compensation for a review update. They simply reached out to me and I was impressed by the cut of their jib. Below is my original unchanged review. P. S. Their cakes are not too shabby. Came here to get a cake for some relatives. Cashier accidentally charged us double for the cake but couldn’t void it out. They told us to pick some things out to cover the difference… BUT it had to be exact or it would mess with their inventory at the end of the day. Excuse me but you messed up our order and made us have to stay longer to come up with an exact replacement. It’s on you to make it better for the customer, not make them jump through hoops to correct your mistake. A very bad customer service experience and in a space that has many other alternatives like 85c, Paris Baguette, or many other smaller bakeries, this is simply unacceptable. Would not recommend.

Pretty good bakery. Most of the bread are more pricy then other bakery I have gone too. My favs are the pineapple bread and egg tart. Egg tart is $ 1.75 it’s expensive but really good. I usually get them at my other bakery for about $ 1 – 1.25. I didn’t really like the pork bun here $ 2. So if u try this place out for sure get the pineapple bun! It’s crunchy and sweet on top and soft bread on the bottom. I haven’t tried their cakes there but it looks delicious. Maybe I’ll try when I go again. Nice workers but doesn’t speak much English. My boyfriend had forgotten his Dolce&Gabbana sunglasses there while he was paying and we gave them a call and the worker was nice to hold it until we went back. When my boyfriend went back the other worker said there wasn’t any sunglasses here. Probably was another worker that was holding it for us. She looked around and couldn’t find it until another worker that came from the back knew where it was. Was happy no one swipe it up! Because those where expensive sunglasses. So another star for honest workers. And 1 less start cause it’s more $$ then other bakery. I would come again for just pineapple bread and to try out their cakes.

I work nearby and have been here a few times. Super good. Recently got a whole cake for my mother-in-law’s bday. Reasonably priced. Everyone was happy. Cool space too.

I love this place. They make excellent pineapple buns, they’re crunchy on top and the bread part of the bun is so soft. I also love the coconut-filled bun. It’s so cool that you can see through the glass windows into the kitchen area and see the bakers at work. I love this place so much more than 85degrees — their buns are so wierd. Kee wah buns are the traditional Hong Kong style buns. Yum! I just wish they served lai cha so I could enjoy both together!

I am a fan of Kee Wah Bakery’s cakes as they make it very Asian style, slightly sweet yet very fragrant. In this bakery, they sell full cakes as well as some dessert-style slices. They also sell Chinese-style seasoned breads or regular toast bread. Kee Wah has some other desserts such as moon cake or other Chinese specialty in store as well. When I came, I bought the chocolate with fresh fruit cake to celebrate another colleague’s housewarming, and it was a hit! The cakes here are not too sweet like American style but more lightly sweet with more flavors from the ingredients, whether it is the fruit or the chocolate. I highly recommend a try if you like your cakes not too sweet but only lightly sweet with lots of fragrance.

Food: 9.5. I love their straight croissant, though they rarely have it. Oh. I love their sponge cupcake as well! It has an awesome taste, as well as their chicken pie. The breading is crispy and flaky, and the chicken inside is awesomely flavorful! It’s also always hot. The eggrolls are indescribably awesome; every time I go there I buy at least two packs. At lunar moon festival, I love buying their mooncakes! There are mini and large ones, it’s perfect. Overall, there could be more options. Environment: 10. It’s really clean, and there’s 96.5 or 94.5 radio playing. There are a few small tables and chairs. Service is average; they were ok.

when u walk into this Kee Wah, u immediately think of how spacious it is even tho it’s not a large space compared to other Chinese bakeries around the Bay Area. they have a baker kneading dough in the window where ppl walking past can c all the magic happening.(not that noticeable cuz of writings on the windows.) I came here when it was past 12pm. there didn’t look like there’s a whole bunch of pastries, altho there’s plenty of loaves of breads stacked up on the walls. so too bad, I didn’t have a variety to choose from. in the cake case, there also wasn’t a bunch of cakes either. there were only like 2 or 3. hopefully the next time I come, there will b more of a selection. for now, maybe I should just stick to Paris Baguette n 85C Bakery n Café. the parking looks like it’s only a few spaces, but there’s a underground parking garage that lets customers park on the bottom floor which is pretty nice. I noticed a few spaces say 12 minutes only? BBQ Pork Bun: these r pretty big. I saw them make the char siu by the trayful so they r pretty fresh it seems. Panda Cookies: so cute n was on sale cuz it’s a gift set. very crunchy. Lotus Seed Pastry w/Egg Yolk: these r like mooncakes except for the pink outer shell. the egg yolk is really tasty. Egg Tarts: the crust seems thinner than the ones at Sheng Kee so it looks like there’s more of the egg custard part. the taste is about the same as at other bakeries.

Came here to get a taro cake. Service was nice and helpful. The cake was moist and pretty.. .. So why the 2 stars? I was expecting taro in my taro cake. .. . instead, I got a 2-layers vanilla sponge cake with tons of whipped cream between the layers and only small patches of taro paste here and there. After cutting up the cake, some of the slices didn’t even have taro in it. How can you call that a taro cake?!? The cake just tasted like vanilla and whipped cream. If I wanted that, I would have gone to Safeway and got a bigger cake for half the price. For a $ 32 eight-inch cake, I am expecting taro flavored sponge cake and/or taro paste evenly and generously distributed between the layers. It was a disappointment. A lot more so because I came all the way from Morgan Hill.

Kee Wah is the strongest Asian bakery chain in California. Better than Paris Baguette and better than 85C, and the key here is freshness. Kee Wah bakes each item every few hours. Not every morning. Not twice a day. This means that batches are smaller and that if you have a hankering for a particular item they may not have it available at that precise moment, but their schedules are consistent and you can either find out when it will be available or pretty easily memorize when batches come out of the oven. My first experience with Kee Wah was with the egg tarts. The pastry is so unbelievably flaky that it practically falls apart in your hands, while the custard is well-set and rich. I prefer the version that looks like it’s had the blow torch treatment. The baked buns are also fantastic, from moon cakes to red bean buns to BBQ buns. The dough is pleasantly sweet, and fittingly so – this is a Cantonese dessert shop, after all. There are also many pre-packaged cookies that are frequently rotated onto and off of the shelves. I’ve never tried the cold desserts, but they’ve tempted me every time I’ve come in.

This place is such a special find. I love to pass by here and grab a pastry and then drink at bitter+sweet a couple doors down before or after school and that would pretty much be my routine. Except I would never grab a pastry, I would actually fill up a box of pastries to keep stocked at home for the week. It was like a weekly bread run! For those unfamiliar with these types of bakeries, you basically go in, grab a tray and some tongs and pick out your desired card loaded treats onto your tray. There are other items that are packaged such as a wide assortment of asian cookies, moon cakes, etc. Cakes are also available by the whole or by slice behind the glass at the register. I’ve pretty much only come for the grab and go pastries though. You can also ask them to warm it up for you which is convenient if you’re passing by for a on the go snack! My favorites here are the pizza pastry, the tiger roll(cake slice swirl thing with white cake and mocha filling), the green onion or green onion and ham trio bread, hotdog buns, hotdog/cheese pastry, or the pineapple bread pastry. If they’re in stock, those are my go to’s that I load up on. The reason I love these breads is that there’s s sweet kind of taste to their breads that’s unique to here. It’s almost reminiscent to sweet Hawaiian bread. The best time to come here is in the morning because sometimes they won’t always restock everything throughout the day! Like I’ve never been able to grab my pizza pastries when I come later.

I went to the curry house next door and stopped by for a look. It seems like the had a pretty good selection of bread! All my favorites were there(sausage and cheese and the like), since I was so full from my lunch, I decided to pass on buying the bread. However, I did leave with lots and lots of cookies. I thought the tea flavored ones were unique and so I bought them! I’m very sensitive about sweet things so it was a plus that these cookies were not only packed with tea flavors, but were also not too sweet! Walking around the corner, you can see Kee Wah’s bakers making the bread! Will definitely visit again!

Really enjoy their crunchy pineapple bun, the pineapple bun with red bean and also the hot dog bun. Their bread is very soft and when it comes out fresh in the mornings, it’s amazing!

I was a little disappointed with this place. I am huge fan of Chinese bakery and was craving for some custard buns, so I decided to try this place. Unfortunately they did not have much stuff around 4pm on a Saturday evening. The place was empty and the cakes and bread were a bit dry. The store is very clean and there is some indoor and outdoor seating as well. I might give this place one more try probably in the AM to see if anything changes.

This bakery has always been closed when I tried to come here, mainly because I’m only ever in Cupertino for dinner at Curry House, and bakeries are just not open at that time. Thankfully, I chose this day to come in for lunch. After wallowing in curry-fullness, my friend and I waddled over to Kee Wah to check out their breads. Their store is beautifully arranged, and they have a fantastic assortment of breads, cookies, and even teas at your disposal. I picked up a few breads to bring back for the boyfriend. The walnut cream bread was my personal favorite — so good! I got him a piece of the chocolate Swiss roll cake, which he said was good. The red bean cream bun was placed in the fridge and eaten the next day, and it was still delicious. Note that the service is only okay and aren’t the friendliest of folks. They also didn’t know how to run the credit card machine, which was worrying, but maybe the person was new. It took about 5 – 6 minutes for my transaction to be completed because they were trying to figure out how it worked without giving any kind of explanation to us, which was, y’know, great. Because I obviously don’t need to know if something’s wrong with my card or your machine. Not worrying at all right? I was just thankful that there was no line behind me.

While waiting for our table at curry house we stopped by this bakery to stock up on goodies. FIL bought two bag full of pineapple cake, sponge cake, pound bread, bread, and other baked goods. They have a toddler sized table with chairs, books and a doodle to keep the little ones entertained. Bathrooms were clean. Just ate two of the sponge cakes and they were delicious.

This is one of those really fancy places for Asian breads if you’re into yummy Asian pastries. It’s a little pricey, but they have a good diversity of choices, always fresh pastries, a good selection of cakes, and a lot of cute novelty cookies/crackers/desserts/gift boxes. Definitely something to check out if you haven’t checked it out yet!

I came here the other day because I suddenly had the craving for their sponge cake. It’s been years since I’ve been to Kee Wah, but I remembered that they had these cute sponge cupcakes that I really enjoyed. It was around 4pm, and the place was empty… frankly I found it a bit worrisome, because it makes me wonder how many of the items get carried on to the next day. I got a whole vanilla sponge cake($ 4), a sponge cupcake($ 1.50), and a crispy red bun($ 1.80, I think?). Although the cakes were not too sweet, which was awesome, they were lacking a bit in the vanilla flavor and were quite dry. Maybe they were made 2 days earlier? They were definitely not made that day. The cupcake was a bit more moist, though. As for the red bean bun, it had a crispy buttery crust like you would find on a a traditional boroh bun, with red bun inside. If you toast it, it tastes delicious. Nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy inside! If anything, I recommend to get the sponge cupcakes if you’re willing to splurge a little. It’s a bit pricey for the size, but I can still see myself stopping by if I happen to be driving on De Anza and feel like eating a cake that isn’t overly sweet and rich.

I have to say that I’m so glad a kee wah opened in sj! Used to have to drive to milpitas to get it. This is my go to bakery and seriously… the bread quality never disappoints! My favorites here are the pineapple bun(w/and w/o red bean filling), taro bread, walnut bread(though they could add more walnuts), sponge cake(the small one and large donut-shaped one), and the swiss roll cakes(the vanilla one)! The bread is made fresh daily so everything tastes fresh and chewy… it just melts in your mouth. Nothing is too sweet/salty. Everytime I walk into the store I plan on getting one or two pieces of bread… but the smell of fresh bread just out of the oven… convinces me to do otherwise. I am not ashamed to say I always walk up to the cashier with one tray full. Prices can be a little higher than some bakeries but their breads are bigger and the quality will speak for the price! I definitely suggest my fellow hk-style bread lovers or bread lovers in general to give this place a try!

It’s a countdown until this store closes. The store is clean, but they have nothing in stock and workers are not friendly. You’ll just be asking yourself why you didn’t go to 85 degree bakery. Seriously, why would you go here?
