Rod is the boss. He consistently gives 5 star haircuts. Just make sure you generally know what you want and you will not be disappointed. In the end you get what you pay for and Rods haircuts are quality.

I’m normally a pretty cheap guy(for better or worse), and for quite a few years, I was very content with taking a clipper to my head with a #1 guard and buzzing everything down. However, somewhere along the line I decided to get a proper haircut, and ended up making a few bad choices, due to said cheapness. Rod’s HI-TECH Barber Shop is a little on the higher end of pricing, but is it worth it? Hell yeah. I’ve been going with him for the past year or so, and it is always a pleasure getting a cut from him. He’s a straight-up guy, who definitely knows what he’s doing. Professional and clean equipment and facility, with a great easygoing personality to match. Once my girlfriend(now wife) saw my first haircut from him, I knew my search for a good barber was over. Numerous compliments from friends and coworkers sealed the deal. He cut my hair for my wedding, and I just got a cut from him to present a proper look to my unborn son, who is due within a few weeks. I don’t think my praise can get much higher than that.

Rod is the best! He gives amazing haircuts. Prices are very reasonable. And we always have great conversations! It’s very hard to find an awesome and CONSISTENT barber… So definitely check this guy out!

Great quality, I could tell immediately this stylist definitely knows what he does. I highly recommend to anyone.

A very expensive and uneven haircut in a closet. The barber was quite nice, but the overall experience(tight quarters, salon smells spilling over from neighbors) and most importantly my uneven fade forces me to give it a one star rating.

I was planning on giving this shop 2 stars at first, but according to Unilocal,2 stars = «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» and 1 star = «Eek! Methinks not.» I think 1 star is more accurate. After a long day of work, I decided to go get myself a haircut. I Unilocaled Barbers in Cupertino and found that HI-TECH Barber Shop was rated 5 stars, located near my house, and did not require an appointment(under More Business Information). I glanced at the photos and the review highlights. Sounds good to me. So I got to the shop and, to my surprise, it was just one barber – Rod. We shook hands and introduced ourselves. Seemed like a cool dude. I told him what I wanted – 1 taper, skin fade the sideburns, and trim the top. Which is what I’ve told every one of my barbers up to now, from those working at barber shops to my friends working out of their garage. For some reason, Rod wasn’t sure what I wanted and asked me a couple other questions, which kinda confused me. He said he understood and that he just wanted to make sure he got it right since he’s «5 stars on Unilocal.» «Nice, he pays attention to detail,» I thought to myself. Here’s where it all went south. A customer came in and asked if he he could get a haircut. Rod told him that he was booked for the rest of the evening. I turned to Rod and asked something about appointments, which made him suddenly stop. «Wait, you’re not my 5 o’clock? I’m appointments only. I’m 5 stars on Unilocal man.» He looked so upset. I sincerely apologized for my honest mistake, but he just couldn’t let it go. He continued, «If you went to a 5-star restaurant without an appointment, you wouldn’t be able to get in, would you?» I started feeling really uncomfortable. He said it was going to have to be a quick haircut. Shortly after, his«5 o’clock» came in. Rod jokingly told him about what had happened, «This guy just walked in here without an appointment man *laugh*.» Now the haircut was ok, but not at all due to lack of skill. I am sure Rod is amazing at his work and takes a lot of pride in it, but my haircut was not to my liking. The blend was really good, but he left the longer part of the sides a little too long. I mentioned to him that I wanted it a little shorter. He got crabby about that too. «You said you wanted it going straight up, man.» I replied nicely, «Yeah, but a little shorter would be nice.» Even after the second time, it was still a little too long but, by then, I was already feeling really uncomfortable and wanted to just get out of there. I thanked him for squeezing me in, payed him($ 35 for a haircut, holy shit), and dipped. I got home and looked at my haircut and the blend is nice, but my hair barely looks like it got cut. I’m so disappointed that I spent that much money on a cut that I didn’t even like. Maybe Rod was just having a bad day, but passive aggressively attacking your customer for an honest mistake is not the way to run a business. If you’re looking for a great haircut and don’t care much for quality of service, maybe this spot is the place for you. But I definitely won’t be returning. Let me just tell you, there are plenty of amazing barbers that even charge half the price. There’s another good one on Stevens Creek and one on Bird Ave. Even some barber school students do great work. To Rod, «5 stars on Unilocal» isn’t everything. Don’t let it get to your head. Your customers will appreciate it.

I had Rod cut my hair last Saturday. He was very professional, got me an appointment on the same day and really knows how to deliver a great men’s haircut with minimal input. Thanks Rod!

After trying several places in the area my son was disappointed with his hair cut so I looked up barbers in the area on Unilocal.I found hi-tech and that it was 5. I called and got him an appointment with Rod. Rod is the definition of quality service! He does take walk ins but calling for an appointment is best because he is busy for a reason! I can see why every guy in the Bay Area would want their hair cut here! He is nice, friendly, and does a great job!

Just got my haircut and it looks great. Needed to find a barber close to work and tried out Hi-Tech based on the solid Unilocal reviews. Im definitely glad I did. Rod took his time where most barbers rush through making sure to blend the different lengths. Highly recommend him and I’ll definitely be back in a few weeks.

I’m writing this review while Rod is working on a masterpiece up top. I’m a regular by choice and Rod simply can’t be replaced. You won’t be disappointed. Best barbershop in town.

Rod is my man. Between chatting about the weather and giggling together over the corny 80’s action flicks playing on the excellent DVD screen, I felt like I developed a deep connection with this fine fellow. He was forgiving of my slight tardiness, efficient enough to finish on time, and superbly skillful with those shears of his. I will be booking all of my haircuts here with Rod from now on. He makes me feel swaggy.

Though the streets of New Orleans can be hard to escape, Rod is your classic rags-to-riches story, making a name for himself across the nation. Just as a toddler, Rod perfected his technique of cutting sick fades and fresh cuts. The direct understudy of his two uncles — both hometown celebrities known for their seasoned trimming techniques — Rod naturally developed into an artisan of his craft. As if it was manifest destiny, Rod saw opportunity west, looking for the chance to make it big, beyond his hometown. He stationed in Berkeley, CA, quickly gaining the respect of the college crowd. But his talent could not be contained — he knew he was destined for greater things. Rod made his way to the Tino, starting his own, starting anew. Now he’s at the top of his game, and nothing can stop him. Oh and his cuts are on point.

Made an appointment with Rod and was able to slip in on the same day. He was punctual, kind, and very easy to talk to. He really makes sure to give each haircut his best and takes his time with it. I was very satisfied with the haircut as it was exactly what I asked for/was hoping for. The place is definitely worthy of its 5 star rating. Give this place a shot if you haven’t yet!

I struggled to find a good barber when I moved to the valley. Luckily I found Rod. Rod takes the time to make sure your hair is perfect. He is always available for appointments and takes his work very seriously. His shop is clean and the music is great for the relaxed environment he creates. Rod is the only barber I will go to.

I’ve been coming to Rod over the last few months and the cuts have been awesome. He is incredibly precise and his attention to detail is something to behold. Plus, he’s a great guy too. You should be getting your cuts here, too!

As usual, Rod delivers. I’ve been to lots of barber shops and I’ve had really bad cuts and really good ones. Rod is consistently, the best. He is super friendly and has great attention to detail. As long as Rod’s in the area, I’ll be going to see him for my cuts! Danny

Probably won’t be returning here. Rod’s haircut was very good; he takes his time and does really good work. A 5-star haircut with 2-star service. We had bought a groupon that he wouldn’t honor. He didn’t really offer an explanation, just said he «wasn’t doing those,» whatever that means. He told us after the haircut had been completed, so we didn’t really have a choice but to pay out of pocket.(He said he only accepts cash but didn’t have that listed anywhere and had no sign indicating this.) So not only did we pay for a groupon but we had to pay out of pocket additionally. I actually thought he was joking when he said he wouldn’t accept the groupon because it didn’t expire for another 5 months. I thought that was totally unprofessional. Also, a previous customer came in just as he was finishing up the haircut and he told him, «I charge double for walk-ins,» despite the fact that this guy was a loyal customer AND he didn’t have any other customers waiting. I don’t know if he was joking about it either. It just seemed really shady to me, like he was trying to take advantage of his customers. I have never had an experience like this in my life, and I’m astonished by his behavior. I can’t believe this is how he treats his customers, new and old. It makes me sad because his haircut was so good! :-(

Rod is great. The haircut he gave me was awesome. Besides that, he is a super nice dude. I was having a rough day(and he could tell). He threw on some good tunes and talked through my issues with me. Classic barbershop and a classy dude. Highly recommended.

Rod is the man. This little(hidden) barbershop is awesome, no fuss, no frills, nothing you don’t need that jacks the price up. What you get when you come here is a guy who knows what he is doing and has been doing that for a long time. I’ve been here a bunch of times and every time I am always complimented by the people around how nice the results are. So I would definitely recommend this place to any of my friends. Don’t be afraid to give him a call if you can’t find the place as it is hidden within a ‘collection’ of haircut places and I’m sure by now he’s used to people asking where it is, took me a bit to find it my first time.
