This has happened a few times, enough to make me write this review. I order a number #14 no tomato with a side of cheese. Nothing else special. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been charged for cheese sauce and don’t ever get it but always get a huge slice of yellow pink tomato! Never fails.

Horrible experience. I was overcharged. When I asked the lady at the drive through she said«sorry– I accidentally ordered large shakes instead of kids sizes». I didn’t realize this until I had already paid. She didn’t offer to fix it or make it right. Very disappointed. Burgers were Dry and burnt.

Most of my experience is with Drive-thru. Our dine experiences have always been good. The wait is always long but they say the make everything fresh. We have never had our order correct. On a few occasions, we’ve caught it before leaving. When we did call to complain, the manager just brushed us off and said they were short on staff with other issues. I don’t mean they put the wrong thing on a burger(the food is usually good and fresh). It’s the order taker not entering orders correctly or the bagged not paying attention. My most recent experience… I ordered 2 steak franks, a large sweet tea, and a corn dog mini kids meal with applesauce. She repeated the order and it was wrong so I said it again.(My car engine cuts off so there was no noise to interfere.) I got to the window and she hands me my large sweet tea and a regular drink instead of kids size. I repeated my order again to her face-to-face. She hands me a bag with 2 applesauces. I thought they doubled it and didn’t question yet. She hands me a bag with 2 kids hot dogs. Again, I told her corndogs. I had to pull forward to wait. She essentially did 2 kids meals with hotdogs. we had waited too long so I just took what we had and left. She blamed the speaker. Now she was very nice with great service skills but not a good listener.

In the past, this was a really smooth operating Steak n Shake regardless of how busy it was. But today, it was busy, disorganized and slow. Under these circumstances our server was good. She was as efficient as she was able too, but clearly the fault falls on the current manager/management(5′ female with short dirty blond hair). Upon service of my order, The burger was sloppy but at least it was served warm and so were the fries. When we went to the register area, we again waited. This same manager could see us, but made no effort to take care of her customers. Instead, she was seen chatting with a customer and chose to ignore us(the paying customer). Finally, a staff member showed up and asked us «How was everything?». Our response back, «Slow». She didn’t know how to respond to our comment, chose to ignore it and gave me my change. Clearly a good mgr. Can«make or break» a good operating restaurant. In the past this location was managed by a young man. It was a good one to go to. I have no doubt he ended up getting promoted and/or moved on. This current female mgr. needs to work on her management and leadership skills. Lastly, this same manager was seen picking up a napkin from the floor and used it to wipe down a table… REALLY?! I understand why this place got a County Health score of 86 out of 100. We’re discouraged with going to any of the Steak n Shakes anymore, regardless of how inexpensive it is.

The slowest drive-through ever in the world of fast food! Not to mention that even after ordering the same exact item, made the same exact way, several times a week, they NEVER got it right. I had to go back every time I ordered from there and after being forgotten waiting out front for my order to be fixed on several occasions, I finally gave up on this place. I think the worst part of this experience is that after all these repeated mistakes, the manager didn’t seem to care and actually treated us as if we were the problem, completely unprofessional. While my expectations for places like this are not incredibly high, they can’t even manage to make the most basic of amends for rude employees, foiled orders and in most cases inedible food. More attention to employee training with an emphasis on customer relations and quality control would go a long way in making this place an option for a quick lunch or breakfast on the go. As it stands, NOWAY.

Everything here is just average. Well… their shakes are really good but the food is just average. The service is just ok. If you want a burger that’s cheap this is your place.

Food is excellent! Staff is not always that attentive when dining inside. The restaurant is generally clean as well. Main complaint is the slow timing of the drive thru, partially attributed to the cooked to order steak burgers.

The food and service is just amazing. Management is also fantastic. You can tell that they work very hard to satisfy the public and to make the restaurant industry what it is supposed to be friendly, quick, and delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly and brought out to me in an orderly fashion.

Yummy burgers –Yummy shakes… friendly service, but… terrible execution of order placed. Once food arrives, inspect thoroughly, as most likely it is NOT what you ordered(I hate to bite into pickles or mustard! Save it for those that ordered it — Thanks!) I’m happy to say they are making improvements in this area. Overall a fun place to grab a burger & shake — Yummm… Just wish they had ‘real’ fries — a little thicker and a lot more flavor please… We’ll focus on the Friendly Service where they earn an A+. They are always busy and hustle to keep up! Open 24⁄7 at this location — Cumming, GA.

My first time Steak ‘n Shake the place was mobbed raising my expectations. I was a single and got a tabled quickly since everyone else we’re in large groups. I went for the basics I ordered a double with cheese, fries and a strawberry milk shake. My shake came quickly after ordering, food another story, it was packed so I give them the benefit of the doubt. Ok let’s discuss the food, please be warned if you are hungry one hamburger will not satisfy you. The hamburger was this little tiny thing, smaller then a Jr. At the other chains. Taste not bad, nothing exceptional. The fries that came with it were these little skinny things, which were cold before I got half way through my burger and I am a fast eater. Now it’s time for the other item from their name. The Shake. Did it look good yes, was it the right color yes, has it ever been near a strawberry I do not think so. If any of you remember the Three Stooges, they made a couple of movies were they ran a restaurant. Their way of making chicken soup was to take a whole chicken and pour hot water through it. I think that’s how they made the shake. They took their strawberry for the week and poured milk over it.

Might be the slowest Steak n Shake I’ve been to lately. Food was just ok and shake was just dumped in a cup.

Went to this location around 1am sunday morning(10⁄25) and was extremely impressed with the level of service received from a server named Josh, he was enthusiastic, funny and on his game! I have never had an over the top experience at this franchise and is usually slow and frustrating. I was with a friend who absolutely cannot stand steak & shake and this server even turned around his experience. Food is always great for what you would expect from a fast food joint but the service is what typically prevents my friend from going. Props to the server Josh, also forgot to mention, they were really busy as a lot of people were there from an obvious halloween party!

I spent 25 minutes in the drive thru at 9:30 pm. There were three cars in front of me. When the car in front of me got to the window they spent at least 10 minutes chatting with the lady running the drive thru. Show me a single thing on the menu that takes that long to cook. The burgers are paper thin and the fries are tiny. What the neck were they doing? Top it off my milk shake wasn’t even ready when I got to the window. You had almost half an hour. Throw some milk and ice cream in the damn cup and stick it in the blender thingy. Ridiculous!

I recently had a terrible experience at another Steak and Shake on Peachtree parkway. I swore I would never go back, but my kids love this place. I drove another exit to Buford Hwy. The place was slammed, but we were seated as soon as there was a table. We were served quickly and refills came when our drinks were empty. It’s not top of the line service, but I don’t expect that. It was clean, the food was fast and the price cannot be beat. I will drive farther to go to this one. It’s a dependable, kid friendly cheap place.

This Steak and Shake used to be a great place to grab a cheap bite to eat, but boy have they gone WAY down hill. Of the last 5 – 6 times I have been there in the last year, only one time have I received anything close to the minimum level of service you expect from any restaurant, regardless of how inexpensive the food is. If you go here, expect to be passed by several times by every server in the building until someone finally takes pity and decides to take your order. Drinks take an average of 10 – 12 minutes to arrive every time, and the food takes even longer. Tonight’s visit with my family was officially my last. I have only continued coming here for so long because it’s one of my husband’s guilty pleasures, but he’ll have to come solo or hit the drive thru from here on out. Not only did 3 out of the 5 people present have things wrong with their order, but we waited 20 full minutes from sitting down until someone came to greet us. Once we were greeted the waiter was friendly enough, but took a solid ten minutes to even bring us our drinks, and almost another 30 – 35 before our food came out. One person ordered the jalapeño crunch burger and it came without the toppings. When we asked the waiter to fix it he took the burger back to the kitchen for almost 5 minutes, and then brought back a now look warm burger with some cold toppings just thrown onto the top bun. Another bacon cheeseburger ordered specifically with bacon and cheese only was brought out with ketchup, mustard, and mayo on the bun as well. The third diner almost finished her meal before her chili cheese fries that were ordered as a side item finally came to the table. To top it all off, I ordered an ultimate banana milkshake and waited 10 minutes to be told they’re out of bananas. Things happen, but it would be nice it the servers were kept informed of things they’re out of to inform guests when they order, rather than after waiting so long. ‘ On top of the consistent lack of customer service we have received here in the past, you’re better off stopping somewhere else for dinner.

They are a bit slow in the drive thru– but they have never messed up my order. I like their sweet tea– it never tastes watered down. You have to remind them for napkins– they frequently forget to give you any!

We have breakfast here every now and then. It is a greasy-spoon for breakfast but not too bad. Service is usually good. Dinner though is a completely different story. The restaurant was about half full when we got there. We waited 30 minutes for our burgers. My burger more resembled a sloppy joe. The burger itself was in pieces piled all over the place. The bun was so stale I hit it on the side of my plate and it sounded like china on china. The spaghetti chili had so little chili, it was a joke. Overall an underwhelming experience. If it weren’t for our wonderful waitress, we would have stormed out. I don’t think we’ll try dinner here again.

Only had the coffee, and that tasted like it had been sitting in the pot about an hour too long. I’m posting this based on observation and my family’s dining experience. On the food — it was alright, but given the prices and the fact that Steak N Shake is expected to be a «greasy diner,» it was as anticipated. One fellow diner ordered the Cheddar Scrambler. It showed up without sausage(as stated in the menu) and we were told by the waitress«she had forgotten to tell us they had run out.» Meanwhile, another fellow diner had a breakfast accompanied by 2 sausage patties. Run out huh? Other dishes including blueberry pancakes and the classic egg breakfast were alright. Don’t expect fresh blueberries — even in the middle of berry season. They’re canned and syrupy. I guess that’s good if you like that sort of thing. Eggs were cooked as ordered. The most unpleasant experience was checking out. It was like talking to a brick wall when trying to get our cashier(manager?) to apply a coupon. She then told us to come back next time without a coupon. Sorry, honey, but that’s hard to do when they are sent in the mail twice a week. I’ll do her one better and not come back at all.

I came here starving the other day just needing some protein. I was looking at their new offerings so I decided to get an Oktoberfest steakburger, and a new Santa Fe burger. The options looked tempting, so I figured what the hell why not. I went drive thru, as I had to meet someone. The cashier was quick and friendly, so that was a plus. It took how much a typical made to order burger would take, but it wasn’t bad at all. The burgers came out nice and hot, and then I decided to eat the Santa Fe first. Not so yum. I think too many flavors going on in there… So I decided to clean my mouth out with the Oktoberfest burger, and I felt the same way. It’s a shame, as I was very excited to eat both of them, and I couldn’t even finish either of them. I am just going to have to stick with the classic Wisconsin Buttery from here on out…
