i couldn’t agree with Eliza more, so i won’t repeat all that she said… even so, i can’t resist adding a bit of info! so, if you are considering adding a new furry cat love to your family, i sincerely urge you to visit HART! they are really wonderful and decidedly overlooked for some of the more urban shelters. but HART has so many great cats– we just adopted an older guy with minor health issues and he is working out *just great*. the staff really cares about finding the right buddy for the right home. additionally, i happen to know that HART can really use donations. you can also pick up bags from them to put your returnable cans and bottles in, then drop these off at Hannaford and your refund goes to HART. they’ve got a really humane, good thing going on! so give them your love and cashes and donations, and adopt their wonderful meowers.

HART does a wonderful thing — it houses and cares for stray, surrendered, or abandoned kitties. They are all volunteer and are no-kill. They are also cage free(for the healthy, well adjusted kitties) so the cats can roam and play at their leisure. They are loved, entertained, cared for, and given lots of attention and expert vet care. We just adopted our little 11 week old kitten from HART and I will say they were so attentive during the adoption process. And don’t think HART is going to give a cat away to any person who walks in the door — we had vet checks as well as landlord checks, so even though we fell in love with our little boy right away, we had to pass a series of checks before taking him home. He is neutered, up to date on all shots, and was fostered for a bit before we got him. He’s totally well adjusted and litter box trained and has made our house even more fun. And was only $ 75! That’s WAY less than you would pay if you did it out of pocket on an individual basis. Every step of the way, HART checked in with us to let us know how things were going. And one thing I really appreciate is they say«once a HART cat, always a HART cat» so if, for some reason, someone needs to relinquish their HART adopted cat, you sign something saying you will bring it back to HART and there will be no questions asked. I hope to never have to use that, but for some people, it’s unavoidable and it’s comforting to know they can go to a loving place while waiting to find new homes again. I can’t say enough great things about HART. I hope to start volunteering there someday so I can help them in their mission!
