This isn’t awful, but it’s definitely not fantastic. I work near the mall and will sometimes come in here for a quick lunch if I’m not feeling what our commissary has on a particular day. This is a to go place, so don’t expect to have table service and nice seating. They have a pretty good selection for mall sushi, and they have a few bento box options if you want to get more than just rolls or nigiri. I’ve gotten nigiri, a philly roll and a bento box before. They were all good, but nothing special. It IS a mall food court sushi place, after all. If you need to satisfy your sushi craving, give this place a shot but don’t expect too much out of it. It’s good if you’re looking for super simple rolls or bento boxes and/or if you’re in a rush.

The woman is so rude when I ask her a question! This is my first time there and will never go back again.

I can understand the low reviews. There used to be a good sushi restaurant here, with a great happy hour sushi special. I had meetings that robbed me of my lunch hour, so I figured a good sushi happy hour would do the trick. I roll up to the place where it used to be and it was gone. :-( However, my sushi craving must be satisfied. I knew the sushi bar existed so I head there. I place my order and wait… and wait… the lunch crowd is gone, so why the wait? Turns out they forgot to make my order! I’m literally the only one there. After they check my receipt, they make my order. Once they’re done, they ask me to show them my receipt(AGAIN) to prove I paid for it. They examined it quite throughly at that! Really? Sushi is decent. Service is not. Go elsewhere

Came here last night for the 1st time with a friend. We ordered their combo special A which has a variety of sushi rolls(32 pieces total) for a good price of $ 19.99. It was actually good for food court mall sushi. I would buy it again and it was filling for 2 ppl.

Best sushi you’ll ever have in a mall. I recommend the BBQ eel. I’m not sure why the place has bad reviews, if you want amaaaaazing sushi go to a restaurant. If you want good sushi come here.

For the price and convenience, this meal is a good value. If you only have a lunch hour and $ 10, this is a good place to eat. Given an extra 30 minutes and another 10 bucks, if choose another sushi place. The food was just okay. This is one of two Sarku restaurants in the food court at the Fox Hills Mall.(I know l, it’s Westfield Culver City now, but I still call it Fox Hills). There’s the teriyaki spot, then there’s this sushi spot.

I don’t understand too many of the bad reviews because when I come the cashier offers good customer service for me. They have really good sushi to me whether I’m in a hurry or not. I always try to come here when I’m tired of all the other food places in the mall. However, the Jarritos drinks/drknks in general are overpriced. I have to remember to bring my own drink if I’m coming here.

The food is barely above decent. You could get far superior sushi rolls at Trader Joe’s. Customer service is terrible. If you eat here, you will be waiting awhile for your food. I advise you avoid this place if you are looking for sushi. Seriously, don’t do yourself disservice by eating here. This place is a joke.

The sushi is decent for mall food, but the customer service is TERRIBLE. I asked for a napkin and a packet of soy sauce after the sushi chefs THREW my sushi AT me, and they acted like it was the most inconvenient request. I’m sorry you’re so frustrated with making sushi at the mall food court, but don’t take it out on me. If you want GOOD sushi at this mall, go to Yen sushi downstairs. SUCH better quality with customer service that’s a million times better.

WORSTSUSHIEVER! I love spicy Tuna roll so I ordered two and it is the worst tasting leathery sushi I’ve ever had! There is hardly any tuna and the sea weed is so old I almost choked on it! I am so disappointed!

Just the right amount for a lunch stop. Tempura shrimp roll was crispy and tasty. The crab was imitation… Sushi was a little warmer than I would prefer, but not bad. I would go back to this food court spot if I’m in the mall.

I don’t know why the bad reviews cuz Every time I come here they are fast and the food is really good and fresh.. It’s just a bar in a Mall and the food tastes much better than a lot of named restaurants. Besides the staff is really nice. I recommend..

I had an awful experience with this place. The sushi quality is just awful. After my first bite, I went to ask for my money back. They REFUSED to return my money! What!!! I said it was awful and then they pointed to a tray of samples with toothpicks, saying that I could have tried some before I bought it. You want people to try sushi that has been sitting out on a counter for who knows how long?! I asked for the manager and they said he was not there. They wouldn’t budge. I was about to cause a scene until I decided it just wasn’t worth it. All I can do is write this review and implore you to avoid this place like the plague. It’s GROSS. Also — they have an «Any 2 Sushi Rolls» «deal» for $ 6.99. But the fine print excludes any roll with tuna, eel, shrimp, salmon — and they upcharge you without telling you. So beware of the extra dollars they add to your order without telling you! Stay classy, Sarku Sushi Bar.

It’s Mall Food, people, don’t get your expectation too high, and you would be pleased with your experience. Wandering around the food court the evening of Boxing Day, BF suggested to have sushi. We both ordered a bento box, mine with ONE shrimp tempura, his with Teriyaki chicken. You get a free miso soup when you purchase a Combo. Bento box also come with California rolls(which are actually way better than what you find in your local supermarket.), seaweed salad. Mine come with Salmon Sashimi piece, his comes with pot stickers. They had 3 – 4 people working behind the counter on the food, but it still took them awhile to get it done. I don’t know how they could handle the rush hour crowd. It looked like there’s no enough food on the Bento box, but it did fill us up(not full like we holding our belly and can’t walk, but enough to get us thru the evening without feeling hungry) The Salmon sashimi pieces in my bento was surprisingly better than I expected. but the miso soup need more flavor, I had to add some soy sauce in it. Overall, a decent mall meal.

The miso soup was ok. The salmon sashimi was good. The slices were a but thin but you get what you pay for. The Philadelphia roll was tasted fresh. What I didn’t like was the rice. The rice that was used for the rolls tasted sweet. Too sweet. Overall, it’s a good place for a quick sushi craving on the go.

I usually like this place for cheap sushi, but they don’t listen well. I asked for spicy salmon sashimi as part of the bento box, but they gave me grilled salmon. Disappointing, and getting less flavorful each time I go.

I did it against my better judgement. «It» being sushi from a walk up counter in a shoping mall. I’d say the sushi is no better, or worse than what you can get at Vons. I was a bit annoyed at the 10 minutes it took them to make my sushi. I had the ‘any two sushi roll combo with FREE miso soup’ lunch special, and a fountain drink, $ 10.87, all said and done. I had the unagi and the spicy tuna, and both were just OK.

Wow, don’t know why they have such a low rating here. They’re not that bad! L-O-V-E their California Roll special. And now they have like these bento boxes, not bad at all. They do make the sushi after you order it so you do have to wait a few minutes but it’s worth the wait. The customer service is a bit abrupt. As soon as I paid for my food and I’m still in front of the cashier they’re already waving the person behind me «next». I’m thinking um, wow, can I please zip up my purse and step to the side before you shout call for the next customer like that? Other then that, the food is YUMMY. UPDATE: THEYUSEIMITATIONCRABMEATINTHEIRCALIFORNIAROLLS. STill yummy imo.
