This location does not take cardboard or corrugated for recycling, contrary to the website. Only bottles and cans (clap your hands, clap your hands).

The only rePLANET I can find within a few miles of my apartment that’s open on Sundays, and that is a huge plus for the star rating. It was pretty quiet when I arrived and there was lots of parking behind Ralphs.
I usually don’t even bother using the self-​serve machine because people with hundreds of bottles and cans hog them forever. If you’re a stickler for making sure your refund counts every single bottle, be prepared to wait a long time for a machine behind people with multiple giant garbage bags full of stuff. Use the blue bins and have the attendant weigh it if you’re not willing to wait and are willing to spare a few cents off your total.
Note that wine and liquor bottles must be in a separate bin and are paid at scrap prices. Also not eligible: tin cans or milk bottles.
Redeem your receipt inside Ralphs.

Quick, easy and painless. The guys there helped me out and gave me advice for next time (like separating my wine bottles from the rest of the CRV glass– but I’m still glad they recycle them!). Go inside Vons to retrieve your money.

I always go here and it’s fine. I don’t use the machine because I usually bring a lot of bottles that I collect from our family, and it’s longer, but you can!
Staff is very nice — As much as it can be! Working there must not be very fun!
If you are lucky you won’t wait too long in line…
Obviously, if you want to avoid a long waiting line, be smart and come during the week or early when it opens (9 or 10am)… don’t show up around 11.30 or 12, because the employee is going to take a lunch break at some point, and if you have many people waiting in front of you you won’t make it before he takes his break…
If you want to come in the afternoon, I usually come at 2pm, I’m pretty sure he already has his break, and that I will have enough time to make it before it closes at 4pm.
Money speaking, I believe this place is at good at it gets. I have a small Ford Fiesta, I get about 40box, sometimes more with a complete full car.
Save everyone some time:
–Empty water in bottles
–Don’t bring wine bottles (he cannot take them)
–Organize everything in separate bags (cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles, big containers, etc.)
Advice — bring gloves!

OMG, this place drives me crazy! I have been coming to this recycling facility for over a year simply because it is convenient. I usually try coming to this facility on Thursday’s or Friday’s because fifty percent of the time it’s not as busy as Monday’s or Tuesday’s.
Even though both RVM’s (reverse vending machines) fully operational there was a delay of over an hour due to a middle aged couple monopolizing one of the machines with their multitude of recyclable containers which filled the back of their pick up truck.
After the woman had placed about nineteen dollars of recycled containers into the RVM the machine shut down and popped out a receipt for her. She then continue to place more containers into the machine.
Meanwhile customers were lining up to use the other rvm and the line was getting longer and longer. The technician saw what was going on but indicated that it was not his job to talk to the customers.
After waiting in line for over an hour I finally managed to get my beverages redeemed. If you can find a better location try it.

Don’t put your items in the blue barrels as they rip you off! Even if it takes more time hand feed all your items. Even though they are opened on SAT/​SUN they do not give good return prices for your recycled items. As other Unilocalers mentioned there are better return/​recycle places to go to. Staff here are just ok not overly helpful.

I’m a HUGE recycler. I seriously recycle EVERYTHING. This RePlanet is in a Ralphs parking lot so there’s plenty of parking, the guys that work in the booth are efficient and move people through quickly. I’ve learned that you get more money for your recyclables if you use the individual machine (rather then recycling in bulk) however, going that route takes FOREVER! Who has the time? Bag it and dump it to the blue bins for the weigh station– soooo much easier. I made $ 175 on my last recycling trip. Pretty cool :) Recycling Rocks.

I don’t know the whole recycling game and the special spots to go to for more money. I cannot rate this place a five because I am just now starting the whole going «green» deal.
I came here on a Sunday around 1200 after hunting down local recycling places in the Palms/​Culver area. The other places were closed and I had to get rid of my collection. I came here ignorant of the whole process and basically got schooled by a gentleman who was working the system.
It goes down like this, first come, first serve. You need to grab the blue barrel cans and seperate your load (glass, plastic, water jugs, glass) when available. The best tip I can give you is bring some gloves and some sanitizer. Even the basurero was like «DAMN!».Those cans are covered with germs, I had no gloves and touching those cans felt like fondling a sewer rat.smh.(I’m serious)
I ended up leaving with about 31 bucks and some change. I maybe have gotten shorted but it was convenient and fast. The gentleman gave me a ralph’s voucher and i got my moola. I felt dirty after touching those cans and used the sanitary wipes located by the front door which are supposed to be used for grocery carts.

I take my students to this center to recycle the bottles and cans we collect at or school. We often wait til we have bag-​loads before coming and the staff that work here are super friendly and super patient with my students… as sometimes we don’t quite sort out all our recyclables correctly. I don’t know if we’re getting the best deal, but if someone treats my students with the respect they deserve, they’re aaaaallll right with me.

This place is better than the La Brea location, but not by much. Don’t even attempt to come here during the weekend. Lines are usually not too bad, but plan on spending about half an hour waiting.

Don’t go here.
I have been going for years to a great recycling center down in Lomita called California Metals Recycling, but since moving up to Culver City, I needed a new recycling center.
I have always been wary of grocery store/​parking lots centers and now I know why.
Something is just not right. Really. After all these years I have a pretty good idea how much I will get when I recycle given the rate is consistant.
This time I had nearly double what I normally have and all the cans were crushed unlike before. I save cans for months crushing them with my daughter and whenever we recycle, the money we get is play money to do what we want. Been doing this for years and this is the first time I walked away feeling horrible.
I actually walked away with less than what I normally get. I know, I mean really know how many I had as prior to crushing they were in garbage bags totalling 9. We crushed them and ended up with 4 bags and just too little money.
I have no proof except 15 years of experience to speak from and my word for what I had.
Never again. I will drive down to California Metals Recycling
1022 Lomita Boulevard when the time comes. I recycle and enjoy it. This place took all the joy out of months of saving and wiped my smile right off my face.
Lesson learned.

i prefer to take my recycling to the center down near USC, though the ground is really sticky and homeless people push in carts and carts of recyclables and get paid in the hundreds. that place seems to give me a pretty good deal.
today i helped my fiancé take his recycling in. the whole ordeal took about an hour and it’s worth it according to Stuff White People Like:
just kidding.
the rates here seem pretty low and they take a bunch of stuff that they won’t give you money for. boo that.

Since the last recycle place I went to did not take glass bottles, I have to look for other places to go. I found this one and since it’s on my way to Target, I figured why not give it a try.
I went on Sunday afternoon, there’s only a few people and most of them are light recyclers who use the machine.
This is my first time to deal with machine and seems to me the machine work best with the «common» bottles, such as your 16oz water bottles or regular beer bottles. It did not take my 59 FL OZ Minute Maid Lemonade bottle and had trouble with the tiny 12 oz Gatorade couple time.
Finally, I gave the big OJ bottle and lemonade bottle to the staff since I don’t want to fight the people in line for the big blue bins, and was a little tired after feeding the machine 45 bottles.
The guy worked today looked friendly, may be next time I will try to use their staffed service instead of the machine when I have a bigger load. And I love them for opening on Sundays!!!

This place is marginally better than the one at Albertson’s and the only reason I go here is because it’s the only place to go in Culver City and I’m not carting my recycling half way across the county to find a place to turn it in.
The machines have been up and running more lately, but the last three times I’ve gone their glass collection bins were full so I haven’t been able to turn in my glass bottles. I pissed me off pretty bad.
The whole rePlanet system is the worst bottle return system I have ever dealt with. The freakin’ A-​holes need to cart themselves to New York to see how a bottle refund service is supposed to be run. If they didn’t give me money I would never use this service, there’s got to be a better company out there somewhere.
