Came here for happy hour. The bartender was super friendly and they had a decent amount of apps available on a happy hour special as well as a cold sake. I ended up getting the ceviche and the pumpkin tempura which had a nice curry seasoning. Neither dish was spectacular, but fine for a reasonably priced happy hour. Preferred the tempura to the ceviche.

Awesome food and service, but gets four stars because there is no coat hook in the bathroom. Seriously guys. Just hammer a nail into the wall. It’s not that hard.

Oh gosh no. FIN resembles Kabuki in that it serves sub-​par Japanese food fit for someone who thinks a crunch roll is good sushi. Ambiance is ok, place was stuffy like they need to air it out. I came here on a weekend night and it was pretty dead. Management here does not seem to take their job seriously. By the end of my meal I wanted nothing more than to leave this place, it was pretty bad.

Stellar food, drinks and service in a really fab setting! Phenomenal time I will be back again:) I have nothing but great things to share about this fabulous, stylish spot with amazing food!

Great place. They have the skills and the ability to facilitate the new «happening area». The bartender was skilled, handsome and polite. He reminded me of my friend Andrew Keegan when he was younger. Made a respectable «Washington Blvd.», which is their own «Old Fashioned», «Manhattan style cocktail».
Made with mid range bourbon, quite satisfying! Kudos to FIN! It’s working!

I’d like to offer a shout out to the LOUD folks seated near my wife and I at Fin last night… she is a lawyer, he is her groom-​to-​be, and their friend is an I don’t know what… their wedding is a six figure affair… their swami in India must be consulted on the date…1/17/17 may be good… but it is not related to their chakras… there’s going to be a comic book a la Lichenstein about the bride and groom… they want to go to Paris on the honeymoon, and perhaps travel to the French Riviera, but it’s 8 hours away… so Versailles may have to do… yoga is great… the restaurant in Playa Vista closed, tragedy…
That’s just a sampling… it went on and on…
Food was very good, but the restaurant was noisy. Service was pretty darn good.

So delicious! Every plate we shared was to die for! I went with some girlfriends a few months ago, and CANT WAIT to go back again with my husband tonight!

We had been wanting to try this place for a while and so we finally did. Thursday 6:30pm reservation was great. The interior color is black, that makes it dark even more with just a few Windows in the front of the restaurant.
The second room is mainly for dining while the first room is mainly for happy hour.
Food: excellent: the jicama fish tacos was our favorite, crispy rice tartare was delicious, duck breasts was okay and the tiger prawns is a must!
Service: our waiter was very attentive, nice and was able to handle all the diners in that second room.
It’s a great place for Asian tapas style. Will definitely come back and will recommend to some friends.

Finally had a chance to try out this beautiful restaurant that serves my favorite type of food, sushi!
I was a little hesitant to come on this random night with my best friend after the gym. We were in our gym clothes and this place is nice. I would describe it better as a date night place or a planned get together to eat some good food and enjoy drinks. We gave it a shot anyway since it was a Monday night and didn’t look too busy. Happy I did!
We were sat right away, sans any nasty looks bc of our gym clothes attire. A server offered us drinks quickly. The whole menu looked very tasty and we settled on three items to share. Started with some edamame which is always delicious and good for you. The Tiger Prawn Tacos sounded so tasty and they certainly were – highly recommend! They are very small but so worth it as a starter. A quantity of 4 come in the regular menu and 3 come in the happy hour menu which begins at 10pm. We ended with a shrimp tempura jalapeño cut roll, which was also very very good – perfect kick to it.
The service was amazing! They were quick and constantly checking on us to make sure we were okay. The ambiance inside is perfect, dimly lit with gorgeous décor. The bar area looked very nice as well.
We found parking on a meter right out front. It is probably a little difficult to find parking during a busy hour.
I can’t wait to come again!

The bf and I stopped in for happy hour and we were pleasantly surprised by its classy yet casual ambiance. Since we didn’t have reservations we just decided to sit at the bar. They had a pretty good selection on their happy hour menu so we decided to do dinner small bites-​style: edamame, blue crab cut roll, veggie roll, japanese ceviche, tuna tartare, glazed green beans, pumpkin tempura, and a couple of bottles of hot sake got us quite full and satisfied. Most of the dishes were quite good in taste and presentation, although their rolls tended to be rice-​heavy (maybe just for HH stuff?). The glazed green beans were positively addictive, and the fish in the ceviche and tartare was nice and fresh. We enjoyed our meal and the vibe, although our bartender/​server guy wasn’t all that friendly. The bus guys were on it though and very friendly. I’d definitely go back for more of that happy hour.
STEPH JUDGEMENT: Good happy hour and nice ambiance but can’t say the service was top-​notch all the way around.

Came for a DineLA dinner. FIN’s west of downtown Culver City on a darkish stretch of Washington we wouldn’t have expected to have such a stylish looking restaurant. It’s small but attractive, with a manageable noise level; service was friendly and helpful.
Two of us both enjoyed Japanese ceviche, the baked crab cut roll, and yuzu beurre blanc grilled salmon with vegetables. The ceviche was good but a little drippy to spoon onto the fried wontons (I wasn’t planning to eat them at all, but they were sooo good with sake!). The crab cut roll tasted okay but was somewhat too white-​on-​white with minimal visual (especially in such low light) and textural contrast between filling, rice, and soy paper – could’ve used some nori (or cucumber or ?) wrapping for a little color and crunch. OTOH, the salmon was outstanding –cooked perfectly, delicious, and even the accompanying vegetables arrived noticeably hot from the kitchen.
A little expensive at regular prices but as our waiter pointed out, their happy hour has very reasonable prices for food, and we’d go back.

Cute, intimate restaurant. A bit on the expensive side for regular dinner, but great for date nights. I came for Dine LA with a group of 7 — larger than originally planned, but they were able to squeeze us at a long corner table. Service was attentive. There’s valet parking in front, or street parking if you don’t mind walking a bit further.
I started off with the «Hello Kitty» cocktail. I really like how there’s fresh muddled berries in this. Really enhances the flavor of the drink.
$ 30 Dine LA includes 2 appetizers and 1 entrée.
Spicy Tuna Rice: Really good! Comes with 3 pieces. The tuna wasn’t that spicy, which is a plus for me since I can’t handle super spicy. The rice cake was flashed seared, crispy around the edges, but still soft and fluffy rice in the middle.
* Mini Shrimp Taco: I tried my friend’s. Also comes with 3. Both this and the spicy tuna rice are excellent choices for the starter, so I recommend splitting if you come with another person. They use wonton shells instead of tortilla. Good balance of flavor, and you can taste how fresh the shrimp is.
Baked Crab Roll: I was a bit disappointed in this only because I expected a California Roll with baked crab on top doused in mayonnaise sauce. This was more of just a plain California Roll overall, with soy paper instead of seaweed. There wasn’t «dynamite sauce» as described on the menu. I do, however, like how there’s REAL crab it in. I don’t think I’ve ever had a California Roll with real crab before lol.
Skirt Steak: I wish this came with carbs! I read the word «potatoes» on the menu and automatically assumed mashed potatoes, but it only came with tiny shreds of fried potato as garnish. I was surprisingly full at this point so I just boxed the majority of it home. I reheated it for lunch the next day and served it over salad. The leftovers tasted better! Steak was tender and juicy.
Not sure if I’ll be back soon, but again, take your dates here. They’re known for tapas so it’s great for sharing and trying a variety of dishes.

After a long search, I came here with a group of 7 for DineLA. After realizing how big of a group we had, I had to call in for a reservation. They were really accommodating since we started off with 5 but ended up with 7 in the end, had to squeeze a bit into the table but in the end it all worked out.
Started off with some drinks, I got the Blushing Geisha: Plum Wine, Rock Sake, Yuzu Juice. Really sweet drink, something that I would drink while on a tropical island next to the beach. There is a lychee flower in there which I ate after it soaked up the alcohol, delicious. Friends went with the Nashi Mule and the Hello Kitty, both very good drinks, on the sweeter end as well.
Ordering was pretty simple since we went with the DineLA menu. I went with the Tiger Prawn Tacos, Baked Crab Cut Roll, and the Skirt Steak (medium rare). I got to try the Tuna Jalapeño Crispy Rice too.
Tiger Prawn Tacos: Comes in 3 little mini crunchy tacos, definitely needs more seasoning if possible, it tastes like prawn and mayo for the most part. Good starter dish but I don’t think I’d pay the regular price on this.
Tuna Jalapeño Crispy Rice: Comes with 3 pieces again, so I traded one of my tacos to try one. Really generous portions of tuna and the crispy rice was made very well. Probably my favorite dish of the night, but once again, not sure if I’d pay the regular price.
Baked Crab Cut Roll: Comes with 5 pieces, once again pretty bland. It tasted like a California roll but instead of seaweed, it uses sushi roll paper. I was hoping that it would be more flavorful, but once again pretty disappointing there.
Skirt Steak: This was probably the most enjoyable dish of the night and the one that I was looking forward to the most. The portions were very generous which was a positive. It would definitely taste more amazing with a side of rice instead of just potato shavings. There were a few of us that boxed it home to eat with salad or rice the next day.
Service was great and I really enjoyed the ambiance and atmosphere. There was a guy in a suit that kept checking in on us (I was hoping he’d introduce himself) which was nice and our server was great. We stayed until after closing time and they didn’t even make an attempt to make us leave which I really appreciated.
Important Note: If there is a long wait, there is a speakeasy behind the restaurant that has really great drinks. They even recommend waiting there and giving you a call when your table is ready which is nice.

Depending on who you are, FIN can mean a lot of different things. If you speak Spanish, it means end. If you are a generous person, it may stand for Friend in Need. If you are a shark, it may be a part of your body. If you are a shark and it is not a part of your body, you are not that scary of a shark. And lastly, if you are in Mar Vista, it may be a restaurant.
But not just any restaurant! A restaurant where you can see Sean Hayes dining alongside you. Not sure if he’s a regular or if that just happened to happen when we were there, but that happened when we were there. I had to mime out the words «Will» and «Grace» to my lady for her to finally take a look. Don’t worry. I was super discreet.
The food here is very good, including a fantastic baked crab handroll that I almost came back for. If you can do that right, you’ve got me. The miso black cod was also great. And then the other stuff we had that I can’t remember, it was all good too. I think. Probably.
There was some weirdness with the table next to us. I had never heard a manager of a restaurant do this before, but he basically asked them to clear their table and move to the bar so they could seat someone else there. It was like 7:30 or 8:00. I don’t think they had been there THAT long. It was weird. I would have been pretty annoyed if it was me.
But it wasn’t me. So they get four stars. But I will eye them suspiciously now that I know that at any point I may be swept out of my seat and over to the bar. Though I do like the bar. And do drink. OK fine just make me that crab handroll and I will forgive you thanks.

It was OK. Nothing stood out to me.
I came here yesterday with friends for dineLA so I ordered off the restaurant week menu ($ 29 for 3 courses). I ordered the Tiger Prawn Tacos, Baked Crab Cut Roll, and the Skirt Steak (medium rare).
Tiger Prawn Tacos: I could taste chunks of prawn but the flavor was pretty bland, not very well seasoned. I would’ve preferred more salt or maybe some seasoning to make it a little spicy/​with a bite. It kind of tasted like shrimp salad made with a lot of mayo. I wouldn’t order it again mainly because it wasn’t aca-​mazing.
Baked Crab Cut Roll: my first thought when it came was that there was way too much rice. My friend also had the same thought. Similar to the Tiger Prawn Tacos, this roll lacked flavor. I could see and taste the crab but it was forgettable. Dipping it in soy sauce did not help either.
Skirt Steak: the only course that I thoroughly enjoyed and believed they did a cook job in preparing. Perfectly cooked at medium rare which lots of flavor. Juicy, tender. However, this is an Asian Tapas bar so I would come here for the Asian tapas, not for steak. I would probably go somewhere else for good steak.
I’m giving the food a 3-​star rating because all of it was average — none of them were bad but none of them were exceptional either.

The shrimp taco from the DineLa menu was freaking amazing! Definitely pick that if you order from that section.
Salmon was ok, but the dumplings were very good! The sauce was so flavorful! I enjoyed it very much. Check out my pictures, you’ll get a glimpse of what I had (:
From the regular menu I ordered the Spicy Rock Shrimp, perfectly seasoned and not too much sauce. After a while of eating it, I got tired of the taste… so I think it’s a good dish to share with a group not by yourself.
SUSHI* From the sushi menu I tried the Washington Sunset Roll.
It was surprisingly good. I could’ve had 2 more orders but I didn’t want to over do myself lol
Very cute & intimate place. They even have a small room in the back if you want to be more private.
Overall great first experience!

ORDER THIS: filet mignon with truffle mash, tuna jalapeño crispy rice
Spends 30 minutes looking at all the DineLA options and ends up at FIN a day before restaurant week begins. Oops. But it worked out in our favor (and in our bellies). The filet mignon was not on their DineLA menu and that was the dish that cinched in the last of the five stars.
Asian tapas — yet another LA fusion done extraordinarily well. It’s an unassuming little place and we would have missed it altogether if we weren’t looking out for the neon red sign FIN. The restaurant itself is fairly small and intimate. The servers are very welcoming and friendly. There’s a bar area right when you enter, and then two seating areas made up of five or six tables each. It may not seem like much, until you take your first bite.
We started with the tuna jalapeño crispy rice, which was sensational. There’s a generous portion of tuna, which I always appreciate. The crispy rice was both sticky and crunchy — really the most well done crispy rice I can remember having. We checked in for the free edamame, which was simply steamed and prepared with light seasoning. The filet mignon came next, which was cooked to medium rare in very thin slices. There are about twenty or so slices, stacked in a circle around a mound of mashed potatoes. The truffle mash was glorified mashed potatoes with a hint of truffle flavor, but the filet mignon made up for it. Each slice was juicy and sweet. The plum wine reduction sauce is delicious! We finished off dinner with the FIN roll which was great — very standard at fusion sushi places that know what they’re doing. And FIN sure does.

Yay! Finally got around to trying Fin for happy hour on Friday night! The bf and I came here at 6pm on a Friday night, smack dab in the middle of HH. We snagged a table, but the manager said we’d have to finish eating within HH time limits because that table was reserved — which was fine with us!
FOOD:
— tuna tartare — yummy! The wonton chips are a bit delicate, but the tartare was good and not too mayo-​heavy
— shrimp gyoza — this was not a good deal, $ 8 for 4, and the filling was only all right. Not as plump as some gyoza I’ve had before
— tiger prawn tacos — surprisingly hearty! The filling was chilled, but too too creamy
— baked crab cut roll — probably the best deal. Very filling, wrapped in soy paper and the crab is warm and comforting
— glazed green beans — salty!
The Sapporo on HH is bottled, not draft and the house whiskey is… rough.
SERVICE:
Our server was super friendly! Food was coming out super fast, but we had a late add and that took a while. Place definitely fills up as the night goes on, lively atmosphere.
VENUE/​PARKING:
Cool place, big wooden door and we sat in the eating area up the stairs from the bar area. Bathroom is single per gender. There seems to be a tiny parking lot in the back, but we street parked right outside for free.
We went a little overboard with what we ordered, but I’d still come back for HH and regular menu items!

Wow! I don’t know what took me so long to try this place, I drive by it all the time?! From the street, it looks like a small space, but once you are inside, it is much bigger.
Their Happy Hour menu is wonderful, and you can easily make a full meal out of it. I started with the Edamame and Glazed Green Beans. The Edamame was nothing special, but I do appreciate that they didn’t over-​salt the outside. The Glazed Green Beans were delicious! I’ve never had this dish at any other Japanese restaurant. Very tasty!
Next came the Tuna Tartare and Baked Crab Hand Roll. The tuna was fresh with great flavor, and paired nicely with the thin crisps. The baked crab roll was really, really good… so good that we ordered another later in meal!
The chicken skewers were nothing special, in fact, the chicken was a bit overcooked.
The Tiger Prawn Tacos are cute little 2-​bite snacks served 3 on a tray, but the texture & taste was more like seafood salad then prawn.
The Shrimp Gyoza was good, with a nice crisp to the outside. However, I didn’t get much shrimp taste out of it.
The Tuna Jalapeño Crisp Rice was probably the best dish on the menu. Great flavor along with great texture.
Service here is top-​notch, with a friendly and attentive wait staff.
I will definitely be back, this place is amazing!
Be sure to check out The Alley around the back of the restaurant. It’s got a great little speakeasy vibe, and looks like a fun place to hangout with friends.

3 ½ for their happy hour experience only. I think I would rate higher if it wasn’t for them not having AC inside. Not sure if broken or just they don’t have AC. I have been here a while ago and also for happy hour and had a great time. I’ve never had their regular dinner items so I won’t review on that part.
We ordered so many small plates from their happy hour menu and my favorite was the Tuna Japaeno Crispy rice! YESSSS! I want to come back for this! For 2 pieces it’s $ 5 which can add up if you want more than 2 (but so worth it). The Tuna tartare is also great! It was perfect size and the taste was also my favorite. My other favorite is the Baked Crab roll, i think I like this one because it was simple (had no cucumber or avocado). Even though it was simple I enjoyed that it was real crab in there and not imitation crab only like some places do so, it has a little bit of both.
Parking is hard to find so you can get valet parking if you don’t find parking.
