Cabrera’s Bakery

We stopped in Dec. 12^th at this new Mexican bakery located just outside of town to see what was what. Self-​service has you pick up a metal tray & a pair of tongs & choose what you want from a bakery case, bring it to the counter, & then they tally up your choices & bag them for you.
Purchased two «Conos Crema» (which resembled cream-​filled horns), five of what looked like «Palmiers/​Elephant Ears», a couple of what looked like «Croissants», & a couple of «Bolillo» breads (look like small sub breads).
Arriving home, we immediately realized that in order to choose wisely at this bakery, one MUST have at least a passing education in Mexican pastry products. Nothing was bad, just not what we, as Mexican-​pastry novices, were expecting.
The «Cream Horns» & «Croissants» were breads — not the puff-​pastry versions we are used to. And apart from a darker exterior coloring, this wasn’t apparent. Luckily the «Palmiers/​Elephant Ears» pastries WERE puff pastry & absolutely delicious; and the «Bolillo» breads were wonderful & made for excellent individual sub sandwiches. (Some internet research revealed that «Bolillo» is an extremely popular basic bread in Mexico.)
Total for all of the above came to $ 10.55.
(We returned this past weekend for more «Palmiers/​Elephant Ears» & «Bolillo». This time around the «Bolillo» were softer & far less crusty than our original experience. Not as good. We may try some other offerings in the future after boning up on Mexican pastries so we know what to expect, but overly-​sweet pastries aren’t really our thing, so we may just stick to the Palmiers (which are difficult to find elsewhere) & the Bolillo.)

They just opened!!! I’m super happy about this! Mexican sweetbread or as we call it pan dulce. My family and I walked in and we were greeted very happily! The breads were fresh and everyone had smiles on their faces! Customers were getting bags of sweetbread. I asked the owner if they had a particular sweetbread and she said no but she would make a special order. I almost cried of happiness. The owner and the staff were so nice and helpful! I found my bakery for sure. I highly recommend this bakery, you won’t be disappointed

The family and I stopped by here on Sunday and bought a few things. Everything we had was delicious especially the sugar cookies they are so yummy. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice maybe the owner? Will definitely be back again thank you
