UPS Store

We shipped a 15 lb box from here about a week ago, to California. Shipping cost alone (separate from the packing cost) was a shocking $ 60.00 for standard ground service. I questioned it at the time, the response to which was little more than a shrug. By the way, the store’s service was otherwise quite good.
When I had a chance, I checked the cost had I arranged the shipment through my UPS account (which this store has told me in the past they cannot bill charges to). My account gets a small discount but nothing like this: the cost for the same size and weight box, and ground service would have been no more than $ 20.00. Either UPS is taking advantage of their UPS Store franchisees, or the store owners are marking up the shipping by a huge margin.
Either way, we’ll not be using them for shipping in the future. There is a Fed Ex shipping counter right across the street. Or I will print my own shipping label and drop the box off for pickup.
