Nnnoooooooooooooo! I’m truly hoping they had an off day. We went here a couple days ago and ordered chicken tacos and a chicken quesadilla. Terrible. :(The chicken was flavorless & almost soupy! Very unfortunate. They also took ffooorreeeevvveerrrr to make our order and it wasn’t even busy, BUT they only had one cook so it was understandable.

I got a tip from my neighbor that this is the place to go for Mexican food. It’s located inside a grocery store, which I found odd, but don’t let that stop you from checking it out. It’s actually not awkward at all because when you enter the building, there are 2 sets of doors… one of which goes straight to the restaurant area so you don’t have to walk through an entire grocery store. Ordering by phone was painless and our order was ready in 15 minutes. I got 2 steak tacos with cilantro and onions and 1 alpastor taco(marinaded pork) since I’d never tried it before. The tacos were a good size and very tasty(my favorite part was the slight char on the steak pieces). I probably should have stopped eating after the second taco, but everything tasted so good. My husband got a 3 steak taco dinner(lettuce, cheese and tomato) and felt the same way. The best part is that our entire meal cost less than $ 14! This place is an amazing little restaurant. I would recommend it to anyone in the area wanting good Mexican takeout. I’m only giving them 4 stars because the food was a little greasy, but overall I thought it was terrific.

What happened to the taste of the pastor tacos? It is so bland now. I noticed that they have a new cook so maybe thats the problem. Also they no longer serve Tripas.

If you’re looking for fast, affordable Mexican food in Crystal Lake, this place is about as good as it gets. It’s tiny and not fancy at all, but everything on the menu is good. My favorite is the steak burrito: massive, freshly made, delicious, and less than $ 7($ 6.99 total). I’ve been going here for years(besides when it was closed, obviously) and have never had a problem with the food or payment. Parking can be an issue in the evening, but the food is well worth an extra couple minutes spent finding a space. Definitely recommend trying this place out, especially if you live in the area. Best Mexican food in town as long as you’re not looking for a nice, restaurant-style sit-down meal.

Is this a place you bring a date to? No, because it’s a carniceria! But aside from the casual ambience, this is a place you have to try for some delicious burritos! It’s much cleaner inside here than some other local carnicerias. Big potions, great flavors, and fresh ingredients are three overwhelming reasons why you need to stop here. We took a chance because we had some vouchers. My wife had the alpastor burrito and I had the azada chorizo burrito. Both of these were delicious and we agreed we would order them again. The horchata here was good as well, not too sweet, and not to light. We’re definitely coming back here and hope to shop the market portion as well.

Thiefs! So, we have gone here two times over the past couple months. Each time, the guy preparing our food and ringing us up charged us $ 5 more than he was supposed to. This past time, I caught it when I got to my car and went back in. He of course played dumb and went to get a lady to give me my money back. I can promise you that we will not be going back. It’s a shame since it is right around the corner from us, but I can’t stand for someone trying to play the«I don’t speak English card» just to attempt to steal my hard earned money. Adiós, Muchachos!

I know this is a store but the restaurant area was had such great food, I think it’s re opened now, but not sure, the store is just a typical mexican grocery store, a litlte bigger but other than that all the same.

This place has been RE-OPENED… I think new owners/management, but the same name. It look almost exactly like it did before, maybe a little bit cleaner. I took a look at the butcher shop in back and a few things caught my eye. For one, there was home made slaw from nopales cactus in the cooler(nopalitos?), with a little carrot and stuff mixed in. Another thing they had new in there were small blue crabs… looked pretty fresh too. Might have to boil up a few of those suckers one weekend. Anyway the grill is running again up front and cranking out tacos for lots of happy customers.

Love this place– inexpensive, quick, tasty. You can run in, place your order, grab anything you might need for home at the grocery part and be on your way in 10 minutes with a great meal. We eat in here as well. Menu is in spanish but I have never had anyone not be able to assist me in english. Friendly clean safe place.

I remember the first time I had tacos here. I thought maybe it was just because I was hungry, but they were the best tacos I’ve ever had. I’ve been back many times over the past few years. I still think the tacos are unbelievable when the meat is fresh, but many times the steak is grisly. They do a high volume so the meat is often on the grill for a long time. Also, the few things I’ve had there besides tacos have been decent, but nothing to write home about. I like the chile relleno, pastor and steak tacos the best. I’ve only gotten a few things at the grocery store and they were all good, but I’m not an expert on supermercados.

This is a hidden location. The hot food service is located in the Grocery store. I had a steak taco and it was very good. The steak was tender and cooked just right. They have very good salsa to put on the tacos. It is located 1 block from the Crystal Lake Metra Rail Station. I will be back!
