Business Owner

Dick and Hayden Cabell purchased acreage in the foothills of the Blue Ridge, west of Charlottesville, VA, built and established the Inn in 1995. They moved to Virginia from the midwest where Dick worked as a manufacturing manager and Hayden taught Spanish and French in middle school and high school. They welcome the lifestyle change enjoy the many friendships that innkeeping has afforded them over the years.

Nestled in between two mountain ridges in a beautiful valley with no cell service you will be so thankful you booked your stay here! Peace and quiet is just what the Dr ordered!
They also accept pets for a small fee. Just don’t leave your pet to bark while your out eating at the amazing restaurants in downtown Crozet. It’s a only a few miles away from the Inn, so you won’t feel «too far in the woods».
We stayed in the farmhouse, but when I get back there again I’d like to stay in the main house (without a dog). The views from the upstairs windows were breathtaking! Looking forward to going back and hiking the trails again. There is a great swimming hole up the road, just ask the innkeepers for directions.
This would be an excellent place to hold a family reunion as they have two locations on the same property. The field between the inn and the farmhouse would be great for volleyball/​football or any sport really. Looking forward to coming back!
The innkeepers are so nice and even gave my dog water while we had breakfast al fresco! We met great people here too! I love the area!

Wanting a pet friendly and quiet place to spend our anniversary we decided to try Sugar Hollow. Great choice! A beautiful setting off the beaten path. Quiet, tranquil and relaxing. Plenty of areas to walk and explore. Great inn keepers and a wonderful breakfast. Close to many vineyards. We can’t wait to go back.

This is one of our two favorite B&Bs within VA. Everything you want in a B&B is at Sugar Hollow Inn. Their recommendations for dinner were spot-​on and service — spectacular. Call when leaving town and you’ll return to the inn with the fire started and everything you need if you’ve brought your own wine or champagne.
Breakfast is served family style and always with a wide variety of items to please all guests. This is a large inn, but the owners have created such a charming, quaint, country feeling that you enjoy every moment. Encircled by gorgeous scenery and wildlife, we enjoy hiking to the nearby reservoir (about a mile or two one-​way).
This is the perfect get-​away location.

Our experience here was a complete delight! My husband and I wanted a night away and could not have asked for a better experience. The property is beautiful and well maintained and the rooms are perfect! The staff is so friendly and the inn keepers could not have been more welcoming. We highly recommend this Inn and hope to visit again soon.
PS– The breaskfast is to die for and the beds are so comfy!

This was my very first time staying at a B&B and really enjoyed the experience. It was recommend to me by a coworker that has stayed several times before and I will recommend it to others as well. 25 minutes outside of downtown Charlottesville and 15 min. from the small town of Crozet.
You can hike 2 mi. up the road to the blue ridge mountains and every where is dog-​friendly around here.
The ONLY downside that I could add would be that they have a stink bug problem. She did warn us about it at check-​in and provided a printout about them. We are familiar with stink bugs. But killing 10 – 20 in your room a day, when you’re hardly at your room, is a bit much. And they fly.
All in all, great trip and a great weekend retreat from Virginia Beach.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Inn. This was my first B&B experience and I think the bar has been set very high. Dick and Hayden were so accommodating and friendly. I haven’t slept so well in a long time. We stayed there because it is conveniently located near 151-​we planned to visit breweries and wineries. A couple staying had been coming for 11 years. I would highly recommend staying here; I only stayed two nights and wish it had been longer. (A couple of notes – my cell phone did not pick up service, but there was free WiFi. In addition, google maps directions takes you to the wrong place, it seems like I wasn’t the only one, so pay attention to the directions, don’t bear right at the curve in White Hall, stay straight to the left of the country store.)

I would like to mirror some of the other comments on here. This place delivered exactly what I was looking for for my wife and I’s first year anniversary weekend. And, the owners Dick and Hayden were awesome hosts that made us feel really welcome. In summary, an «Excellent B&B around 30 minutes from Charlottesville.» It was also easy to get to the downtown Charlottesville mall area, you literally take a right of the driveway and drive straight until you run into the mall area. Breakfast was served on time and is outstanding with lots of healthy and vegetarian options. Other B&B’s I have been to didn’t provide such options. The property is also situated on a beautiful piece of property with hiking/​biking trails close by. There are even a couple swimming holes near by. It is also close to plenty of wineries. Free Wifi service is also provided at this B&B.

Excellent B&B around 30 minutes from Charlottesville. We were in the area for a wedding and chose the Inn at Sugar Hollow rather than a hotel in town. The proprietors are extremely nice and helpful in planning activities in the area.
The inn is on a large plot of land and the rooms are very comfortable. There are ample patios, gardens, reading nooks, and lounges to kick back and relax. There are little butler’s pantries so you get access to a fridge and microwave (helpful if you want to bring your own snacks).
I was impressed that things were very professionally run (in terms of booking on the website, timeliness, cleanliness, etc) while still managing to be quaint and charming. Breakfast is served on time and is outstanding. there are lots of healthy and vegetarian options. I even noticed other guests making special requests and the hosts were very accommodating.
We went hiking in the nearby Shenandoah National Park and visited some local wineries. There were so many options for activities, there was no way we could have packed it all in to one weekend.
I would caution that the other guests were extremely chatty. I found that most of the people were interested in socializing, especially at breakfast. This is a pro or a con depending on your personality but I found it rather charming.

Best stay at a hotel/inn/b&b i’ve ever had. I’ve stayed at the Waldorf and all the fancy places there are in this country, and this place takes the cake. Dick and Hayden are just about the nicest people on the planet (they are Midwesterners, after all!), and it was nice to see a fellow Crimson. The fact that it’s about 15 – 20 min outside of Charlottesville is actually a plus — you’re paying to get away from the downtown light pollution, and it’s worth every penny. I would go back (and will) in a heartbeat.

What a slice of country heaven! Stayed here in early October 2009 (in town for U2 at UVA’s Scott Stadium) for 2 nights. We stayed in the beautiful and spacious Wildflower Room in the main inn. Trees and mountains outside our windows — even deer! It’s a touch far from downtown Charlottesville but a great weekend getaway. The hosts/​owners are so nice and the breakfasts were delicious. The berry pancakes were AMAZING and the zucchini cakes were delicious. Those were the 2 most unique things but everything was delicious. Very clean and quaint establishment. Hope to return some day. Side note — there are some wineries right near it although we headed over to Blenheim and Jefferson.
