They have the BEST lemon rice and cheesy potato soup ! And the buffalo chicken wrap is great. It’s our go-to place when we need a good cup of coffee and a good bowl of soup. There are a couple of waitresses who are awesome and a couple really inexperienced ones that you have to keep asking for things(ugh) but I still go !

A pleasant local restaurant with great food and staff. Visiting from out of town and this place didn’t disappoint. We stopped for a late breakfast and a break from the cold and some yummy French toast! Totally a must if you’re in Crown Point!

We stopped there for a late lunch. I had the club sandwich, he had a patty melt. I had the deluxe, which included soup and fries. The chicken soup was delicious! So was my turkey club sandwich. Everything was fresh and the bacon was nice and crispy. Just the right amount of mayo on the sandwich. He thought the patty melt was one of the best he ever had. He normally uses Catsup, but he didn’t want to ruin the taste of the perfectly cooked rare patty melt. We’ll be back if we have any other business in the area.

My boyfriend and I have made it our regular spot for Wednesday breakfast. We always love when we get Shelly she is great I’m a waitress myself so I’m picky but she is always very attentive and friendly. She has a great personality and we love her. The food is always great and the prices are more than reasonably. We will be coming back for more breakfast

It’s your average small diner. I had Greek chicken, and it was pretty good. It wasn’t broiled, but that’s ok. It had a pretty good flavor. Service was ok, but at one point we were the only customers, and my coffee cup was empty. My mother said her pot roast was delicious, and it looked pretty good too. Prices are very reasonable, and bonus points for having real butter and half and half. I’ve been here several times for early morning breakfast(they open at 1am on Saturday and Sunday to cover the bar trade), and breakfast is really good, I recommend the skillets. Overall I recommend it for a quick, reasonably priced bite.

If I could give more stars I would! We stopped here on our way back to Indy from Chicago, and we were delighted to be greeted with warm smiles. The host was very cordial and sweet and our food was ready quickly and perfect for us to take on the road. I hope one day the town I settle in has a place like Main Street Café!

Meal was very good. Pancakes a little dry. I had to ask for extra syrup. Service was excellent. Hostess outstanding and the wait staff very punctual. My friend was impressed with his fast and friendly never empty coffee cup. I would recommend this to others.

This is your typical greasy spoon, they even have a counter you can sit at for some nostalgia is you like. I’ve only eaten breakfast there and it was great. The coffee is good, the food comes out fast and hot and the service is decent. Keep an eye out for the specials. Last time it was just a post it note stuck to the menu for cinnamon swirl french toast which was amazing. It even came with whipped cream!

Like a lot of the restaurants around Crown Point, Main Street is pretty old school. Unlike most of those other restaurants though, its food has stood up to the test of time. They haven’t sacrificed good taste for their huge menu, which is a feat. I’ve never eaten anything I didn’t like here, and it’s an easy place to drop in and be treated kindly. Love getting carryout breakfast over the weekend. I suppose in the name of being fair I do have some complaints: the coffee sucks, those murals are hideous, and being pestered to tip at the cash register is tacky!

Very friendly service… I come in a lot on Sunday mornings in the winter to get lemon rice soup!!! Their chicken noodle soup is also great! Rolls are always served warm, and service is wonderful! Cute little hometown café!

A nice little diner right on the square of Crown Point. We stopped for a quick late brunch and luckily they serve breakfast all day. He had the chorizo omelette and I had the egg benedict. They were just fine. Nothing spectacular. Food: 3⁄5 Service: 4⁄5 Location: 4⁄5 — Don’t look at the floor. Icky.

Great little restaurant with HUGE menu and friendly service. I’ve been coming here for breakfast and dinner for the past 15 years and have never had a complaint about food or service. I recommend this spot to all that ask for a «family» place to eat.

Just your run of the mill café. I honestly can’t remember what I had there or what the service was like, which is really rare for me. I couldn’t even remember eating there until my girlfriend reminded me that we studied GRE words there. Maybe that’s why I can’t remember anything: my memory was engaged with all those stupid words. I also can’t remember anything bad. I remember thinking«this isn’t as bad as all the recent Unilocal reviews say it is.» It wasn’t dirty or run down or anything. Just«average.» I also can’t remember how the service was, so it was probably ok as well. There weren’t many places to eat in this town, and you could definitely do worse. We didn’t eat anywhere else so I don’t know if you could do better. Meh, take a risk and see for yourself I guess? :)

Main Street is the second best breakfast spot in the area.(See Scrambled Diner for #1). Great skillets, okay service and reasonable prices. It is, unfortunately, too far for me to go often but when I’m in C.P., Main Street is my choice for Breakfast.

Let me set the scene. It’s a Saturday morning, I’m a bit hungover, grumpy and hungry. My Grump-O-Meter is almost at tilt. I was being a good husband and warning my wife that I’m getting close to that point of no return. In other words, I’m about become be a cranky, old bastard. She’s seen it before, it’s not pretty. The only thing that can save me from turning into the Demon husband is food. Here’s where that Main Street café saved the day. I really can’t describe the décor of this place. By the time I walked in, I could have cared less. I was totally focused on the smells emanating from the Kitchen. The aroma of Coffee, Eggs, Bacon and Sausage had me in a trance. After the first sip of Coffee, I started to feel human again. When my meat lovers skillet arrived I was like a kid at Christmas. The combination of meat, eggs, taters and grease were just what the Doctor(Dr. Kevorkian) ordered. I have made no secret of my disdain for the State of Indiana, but I have to admit, Crown Point is a cool little Town and the Main Street Café was the start of a fun day. I would go back in a second for another Cholesterol fix.

The place definitely needs a little bit of a facelift, and the waitress we had was all business. No smile, not friendly, just very curt and to the point. It was odd coming from such a young girl. I ordered the soup of the day which was cream of cauliflower. The soup was a tad too thick, but it was really quite delicious. I then ordered a Combo Salad, which turned out to be a scoop of cottage cheese, a scoop of tuna salad and a scoop of chicken salad. Bread would have been nice with this because after a few bites, the texture of all of these salads together got to me. Andy got a skillet which looked good, and my friend Mary got a sandwich. Pretty inexpensive for what you got. Would need to sample some of the other places in town before I say if I would consider coming back.

I can’t believe people actually eat here… Yeah it’s cheap, but that’s about all it has going for it. I often wish I could take over that place, give it a facelift and a really good menu. Good breakfast is probably the easiest thing to make, but at Main Street they are super lazy in the kitchen(and dining room for that matter) and use poor quality ingredients. I could make everything on their menu at home but 100 times better. This place is only worthy of a group of drunk guys at 3am. Too bad there are NO good breakfast places in CP.

I have to say being new in town sucks but this place has quite a cozy atmosphere. The people who run it are really polite, I can’t say much for their spaghetti but their bacon burger sure did the trick last night.

I saw all the five star reviews here on Unilocal and decided to give the Main St. Café a try. Five stars? Not even close. We had breakfast here on Friday morning. Sat at the counter. Turned over my coffee cup for a fill up and there was a bright pink BANDAID stuck to the inside of the«clean» cup. I almost walked out then, probably should have. Very bad first impression. The place was crowded. A sad sign of the fact that Crown Point has NO good places to eat.(at least not that I have discovered yet. Please, send me your recommendations for my next visit.) I ordered eggs over easy, bacon crisp and wheat bread. The eggs were okay, not very fresh tasting. The bread was the cheapest store-bought variety wheat bread. The bacon was limp. Totally limp. It was like shoelaces. I return to Crown Point once or twice a year, but I won’t be returning to the Main Street Café.
