Alexander Hamilton House

Had a great weekend stay at The Alexander Hamilton House! The innkeeper Tom is a wonderful host and the house and neighborhood were beautiful! We will definitely be back!

Tom made the time we spent there magical! And he went out of his way to make a vegan breakfast and picnic basket. It’s walking distance to nice places to go and see and 3 minute drive to the best bird watching I’ve ever seen. Tom suggested places for us to go and see at a relaxed pace. I can’t wait to go back.

Stayed two nights in the Rose Room over this past Valentine’s Day weekend with the lady. Tom is a fantastic host who really knows how to make people feel welcome. It felt like we never left home (besides not having to deal with ya know… home stress). Five minutes from the little town area, which has a few very good restaurants and a cool little coffee place (Black Cow café or something) and incredibly relaxing. And each morning, Tom whipped up a delicious breakfast. He makes some killer french toast! Overall an awesome, memorable experience, and we will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family, and will certainly be back. Good job Tom, you’re the man!

Great B&B! I spent a few days there while visiting with family. Croton is a quaint small town with plenty to offer. Tom is an excellent host, warm and friendly. He is like an old friend from the moment you meet him. The house is clean, comfortable, and quiet. Great common space with plenty of room to read alone or sit and chat with other guests. Very affordable and accommodating.

I love a B&B setting, but it was the first for my boyfriend, at the time. Tom is an incredible owner and put him at ease immediately. Unlike so many B&Bs where you feel like you’re in the way or they are always underfoot, Tom manages to be there when you need him and yet not when you don’t. I think it’s just a testament to his excellent service.
We stayed in the Turret Room, which has a private bath across the hall. Of course, being by Sleepy Hollow, there’s a lot to see (The Old Dutch Cemetery and Church — which were amazing, the Croton Dam, etc.), but we had a hard time leaving our room as it was a throwback in time and very comfortable. Definitely great if you’re looking for that romantic getaway.
Breakfast in the morning has something for everyone. A hot main course, but pastries as well. Tea, coffee, juice … truly the best I’ve seen offered and Tom is a lively host. We will definitely be going back in the future.

My boyfriend and I were desperate for a reasonably priced weekend away from the City somewhere this summer, which is relatively impossible if you’re aiming for the beach out on Long or Shelter Island. After searching hotels and Groupon deals, we decided we would prefer a bed and breakfast somewhere (we didn’t want a hotel feel), and if we couldn’t have the beach we’d settle for a pool.
I began researching bed and breakfasts up the Hudson and almost jumped out of my seat when I found AHH. A quaint, little town, a bed and breakfast, and a pool for way cheaper than I expected. BOOKED.
First of all, if you’re coming from NYC it’s about a quick 45min train ride to Croton, and then about a $ 7 cab to AHH. Super convenient. Second of all, once you’re there you never want to leave. Conveniently, there is a 2 night, 3^rd night half off deal we very happily took advantage of.
Owner Tom is a gem. He’s the perfect amount of friendly and welcoming without overwhelming you. He also makes you breakfast personally every morning. AHH makes you feel as though you’ve gone to stay with an old friend for the weekend in their home. It is cozy and clean, with beautiful rooms (Tom encouraged us to explore the adorable spaces), spacious and clean bathrooms and the most relaxing dining, living, and day room areas.
My boyfriend and I took full advantage of the well-​kept pool and giant chess set. The river is not too far, and on Friday nights in the summer there’s usually live music in the park. I also highly recommend going to dinner at the Ocean House. Easily the best seafood I’ve had in awhile, and it’s BYOB!
If you’re looking for a relaxing weekend away to sit and do absolutely nothing I highly recommend AHH. It’s super affordable and magical. My boyfriend and I are already brainstorming the next occasion for which we can escape there.

I really can’t even give this place a one star. Stayed there just before Hurricane Sandy and we had to cut our stay short to get into NYC before the roads and tunnels closed. We were told our two nights could not be refunded even in the event of special circumstances like a hurricane.!! We were offered a night free on out next visit, but even that incentive would not make me come back. Everyone else on our canceled trip up the Hudson River Valley was happy to refund. The room was just fair, no closet space, stayed in the bridal suite I think. Breakfast in the room was nothing great.

We just stayed at Alexander Hamilton house for 7 nights with our 2 young daughters and it was such a wonderful visit. Tom is a wonderful cook and was so sweet to our girls. The rooms are nice and clean. The house has a lot of character and lots of fun things to look at and games to play and books to read. We enjoyed our stay very much and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to visit NYC but wants to stay out of the craziness of the city. We went into the city 4 times during our visit and just took a short (45 minute) train ride each way. It was the best of both worlds: getting to experience New York City and then also having a quiet place to relax and recover. Thanks, Tom, for your hospitality!

My boyfriend and I (early twenties, australians new to NY) planned to stay only one night at Alexander Hamilton House, but couldn’t resist staying another night. Tom, the housekeeper, is simply a lovely chap, ever welcoming and exciting to be around –his warm, goey cookies served for afternoon tea aren’t bad either!
The house itself is divine: beautifully and somewhat eccentrically decorated. It’s clean, the communal lounges are welcoming and spacious, we really thought we were the only guests staying.
Our room was big, clean and the bed soft with great bouncy pillows. Breakfast is served at your convenience (french toast, fresh fruit, muffins– don’t mind if i do!)
With the train station walking distance away, and Enterprise car hire just on the corner, getting around the adjacent towns is a cinch. Things to do? Sleepy Hollow graveyard, the Rockerfeller Estates, Dia Beacon and BlueHill at Stone Barns. What an amazing weekend away. Thanks Tom and Barbara, see you at Cape Cod maybe?

Loved it. Very unique, charming and relaxing environment. You feel like home as soon as you are greeted by the wonderful owner. She was all about taking care of us and making sure we felt comfortable with the beautiful house. Even though it was almost fully booked, we felt like we were treated as top priority. Breakfast was killer good. No detail was overlooked and the food just tasted fresh and wholesome. I don’t even have to rush to make breakfast since you get to chose to come down as late as 9 or 10 in the morning, great stuff. Our room was great, very spacious and had a fireplace, full bathroom with a Jacuzzi. The room décor was quite refreshing because it had the best of both worlds, delicate antique pieces in a modern space. It works quite well. The room is also very clean and doesn’t have an odor. You can tell that someone put a lot of heart into it. That basically goes for the whole experience. Also, the village is very very cute and definitely worth going to unwind and do whatever your heart desires. Stress free! I will definitely go again. P. S. you get fresh baked cookies every day… yumm.

My wife and I stayed here over Easter Break. They asked for a general time that we would arrive and had fresh baked cookies ready for us when we got there. Very nice. The building is very quaint with most of the rooms on the second floor. Most rooms have a bathroom… so if that is your thing be sure you check. The rooms were very comfortable. We stayed in the Garden Room I believe. It was a little small and crowded with the day bed in it, but very comfy. Croton-​on-​Hudson is a very nice town, however we spent most of our time down in The City (we took a train in). Breakfast was amazing. My wife was in her first trimester at the time and they did very well dealing with her particular… needs. Fresh fruit, bread, jams. Gourmet teas… and eaten in a very nice garden/​sun room. You can eat with other people staying at the time, although I think you can request to eat alone.
If I had to list one complaint, it would be that the wood in our room was to green and I couldn’t get a fire to stay lit.
