Bailey Art Museum

Great gallery! The artist was there when we visited– he was very friendly and explained his process with us. I really appreciated that he took the time to talk to my elderly grandfather. The sculptures were very cool and funny. Definitely worth the trip!

My husband and I were in Crockett on Sunday afternoon and when I saw the Bailey Art Museum on Unilocal we decided to check it out. I actually didn’t even look at the reviews or pictures online, so we were totally surprised to arrive and find a museum of unique, homemade robots and other creatures. The metal sculptures created by Clayton Bailey are terrific! Many of them move or make noise; and they are all so fun to look at.
The museum has a few rooms to walk through and lots to look at. Mr. Bailey’s wife is an artist too and uses clay from their backyard in Port Costa to bring to life a variety of fascinating items and animals.
This place is wonderful and I’m so happy we found it. It’s worth a trip to Crockett just to stop here. You can purchase the large art, and there’s also a small gift store section. A $ 5 donation is requested at a box by the front door which is more than worth it to walk through the museum’s rooms. Mr. Bailey and his wife walked around with us and were very friendly, and even happy to shoot the large cork gun we saw in one of the rooms. Very neat!

Quirky, offbeat, and a lot of fun, you can even see the remains of a Big Foot found in the hills surrounding nearby Port Costa. This museum and gallery is featured on Road Side America

There is a lot to see here: ceramics, sculptures, painting, oddities and the stars of the museum – the robots. I really enjoyed looking at everything and it took me more than one visit to enjoy all that is here. I think you will find that the $ 5 donation is money well spent,

Me and two of my friends went yesterday after scouring Roadside America to find someplace we could check out on the way bay from Napa. This place is an absolute treasure and I’m SO glad we went. It’s full of fun surprises and it’s more than worth the $ 5 donation. Mr. Bailey seems like such a cool guy and his art is phenomenal. If you like art, oddities, and anything strange and unusual, you *need* to visit this place. Seriously, above and beyond what I ever could have expected in a roadside attraction. I will definitely be back

This place is awesome! We kind of halfway stumbled on it by accident while on a photoshoot closeby.
I can’t say enough about Mr. Bailey’s passion for building clever robot creatures. They’re whimsical, awe-​inspiring and evidence of a man’s lifelong obsession.
A bunch of photographers descended on the place and he was courteous and eager to show us around and answer any questions we had.
This place is truly a gem and I encourage you to visit on weekends! I want to take my six year old son back there; I have a feeling he’d love it!

Hilarious and heartfelt museum on a side street in Crockett. Clayton Bailey’s ingenious robots worth the trip to this sleepy little East Bay town. Nice little museum with great sense of fun. A unique experience!
Pair it with the funny/​terrible Crocker Historical Museum, kitty-​corner to Bailey’s, adjacent to the C & H factory, for even more fun.

I am still smiling at how inventive and creative the art in this place was. My husband and I were driving back from lunch one lovely Sunday and decided to turn off to explore Crockett and Port Costa a bit. Across from the old C&H factory we passed this little building. It was the shiny and unusual robots in the window that made us stop the car. All types of old industrial parts, kitchen implements, and odds and ends cleverly imagined together into weird and very cool robots. Also, lots of surprises as well. If you like Sci-​Fi (as my husband does) it is like 50s Sci Fi came off the screen and into life. And if you like funky art (as I do), you will enjoy such a neat display in every nook and cranny of this space. He coyly pretended not to be but the artist was there as was his wife (I goggled his picture when we got home).
We haven’t done it all yet but for a great day out, I’d suggest a walk in the new Carquinez Strait regional park, a visit to the Bailey Art Museum, taking photos of the old buildings in Post Costa, and brunch at the Bull Valley Roadhouse. Whether you are taking a date, road tripping on the weekend with friends, or just want to get off the beaten path, this is truly a charming and wonderful emporium of art.

This place is a gem! Not very big but is stuffed full of interesting and entertaining pieces. The robots remind me of the old sci-​fi movie robots. I nearly had to drag my kid from this place he enjoyed it so much! Well worth a trip to Crockett to check out.
