Painting with a Twist

We went here for a work holiday party. We wanted to switch it up and do something we hadn’t done before and thought this would be a great team building experience. I wish I could say this experience was great, but it was far from that. Our artist, Shawn, walked in saying how tired he was because he was up late the night before at a movie (this is something we as the customer should never have known). Within the 20 minutes, Shawn set the tone for the rest of the afternoon by stating that women don’t follow directions! As HR professionals, we were extremely offended and appalled that he would say such a thing. Aside from being offensive, he talked SO fast, gave horrible instructions, and showed his impatience to us the entire 2 hours we were there. He rushed through his painting/​instructions so we were all behind him and expressed that we needed a few more minutes to catch up, but that didn’t matter, he kept moving on to the next step. When we asked questions he acted annoyed that he had to answer them. I even felt nervous asking for more paint as if I was annoying him. While our paint was drying he had us play a game. Again, didn’t explain what he wanted us to do and then yelled at us if we were playing it wrong. It was obvious he was told to play a game with us and it wasn’t something he wanted to do. Unfortunately, the Artist that paints with the group IS the experience and he ruined ours. I hope he fixes his attitude for future groups!

Fun place to create and drink. Great diverse crowd, mostly females. Instructors were inspiring, practical and entertaining.
Drinking and drawing is an artistic combination that promotes confidence to a painter of any level.
Lots of painting throughout the room — some of which will make your jaw drop.
A bit pricey if you’d like to make it a frequent occasion.
Overall this is a memorable experience that stands out. My painting is still on my wall to remind me about my talents… and modesty (:

I LOVE PWAT! I’ve been here 6 times and have 6 awesome paintings to show for it. I’m not terribly artistic but they break the paintings down into easy steps and walk you through each one. Apparently they even have a time when you can come in to work on fixing any mistakes you feel that you’ve made.
They also have a punch card so you can get a free painting class after you fill the card. And if you check-​in on Facebook while you’re there, they’ll give you 2 punches. So that’s basically 1 free class after you take 5 classes. AND they gave my friend and I our own aprons when we turned in our punch card for our free class. Did I mention how much I love this place?

I am completely not an artist at all and was not sure if this would be for me. But I have to say the staff made you feel comfortable and encouraged you with great tips. They were entertaining, attentive and patient. I would recommend this establishment even if you’ve never painted. It was a truly fun experience.

I hate having my photo taken. Absolutely hate it… which is why, although the painting class was enjoyable enough, I will not be back to this establishment. They’re downright overbearing about it. You’re dodging photos while you’re painting and then they force everyone to assemble at the end for a group photo. I attended a Paint Nite session and had a blast and guess what? I wasn’t bullied into a single photo. Plus you can often get a discount on their classes on Groupon or Living Social. Anyone interested should definitely give Paint Nite a shot.

Went to a bachelorette party here and was very nervous. I am not artistic by any means, and I think the last time I picked up a paint brush was for a grade in high school.
Our resident artist was just fabulous. He instructed us with both humor and constructive criticism. I’m actually surprised at how decent my painting looks, and I ended up having a great evening. I’m even considering taking my mom there for mothers day.

Painting with a Twist is a wonderful alternative to going out to a bar with friends. There is an artist who takes you step by step through a painting– making it fun, and keeping every stroke in layman’s terms. You bring your own wine and snacks– and you spend two hours creating something you had no idea you were capable of creating.
This place is a blast! Two sisters brought this wonderful franchise to St. Louis. You’ve got to try it! You“ll be hooked!

I met some really neat people and the party atmosphere is the best. I have taken my painting to work to show off and shown it off to anyone who is near. Others have commented it was something they would have bought. I am by no means artistic, but after my Painting With a Twist Experience… I just might be. It is the same feel as painting pottery, but you do not have to be creative. They do it for you. The best part was getting to leave with my art instead of having to wait to have it fired. I am totally buying gift certificates for my kids for Christmas.

So I was really nervous at first about the prospect of not only painting, but painting in public was even more terrifying. I got over it pretty quick. The instructor kept saying «keep it loose» and eventually I did. The thing I liked the most was the fact that it was ZERO pressure. The painting was fun and the best part is everyone’s looked a little different, but they were all awesome. I was able to go in with my girlfriends and leave everything else at the door. It was such a great break from the norm. I think I am going to bring my nieces next time.
