Artistic Dentistry

I wrote a review shortly after a bad experience at Dr. Pagano’s office, but decided to remove it a few weeks later because 1) I wrote it in the heat of the moment and 2) They called me and asked me to come in and discuss my experience with Dr. Pagano.
After letting this sit for several months I decided that I wanted to come back and write a brief review and just share my experience. It is important to hear good and bad in order to make good decisions.
First, I must say my first appointment was a consultaiton with Dr. Pagano and it was fine. I had a cleaning with Delilah which was outstanding. Dr. Pagano is personable and gives a good first impression. There were a couple of things that made me feel a little unsure, but not enough that I didn’t go back. I will say one of those things was Dr. Pagano asking me if I had ever thought about braces. I do not have perfectly straight teeth, but if anyone else looked at me, they would not say I needed braces (see my profile picture). Also, in my 50 years of living I have never had a dentist suggest them. To me, it seemed like they saw I had orthodontic coverage under my insurance plan, and a slight imperfection was an opportunity.
I had a couple of old fillings that needed to be replaced, so I went back to have two done (two molars next to each other) at the same time. Dr. Pagano was booked, so I was scheduled with Dr. Bockhorst. I do not have dental phobia and have never had a bad dental experience, until this one. When I went for my dental work, Dr. Bockhorst didn’t speak to me, except for a «Hi, I’m Dr. Bockhorst.» Then, she injected the numbing medication and immediately went to work without any wait time to allow the area to numb. She started to drill and that was horribly painful because the numbing medication had not done anything yet. I put up my hand to signal her to stop and said it wasn’t numb. So, she waited a tiny bit longer to begin. There was also a mouth piece inserted (covered my lips and helped to prop my mouth open) and it was painful and pressing on my gums, and rubbing with every movement. So, now I had my mouth full and couldn’t talk, and they weren’t even saying, «Is this comfortable?» As a side note, I had painful canker sores for days afterwards, from that mouth piece rubbing. The dentist nor hygienist did not offer me an opportunity to rest my mouth (from holding it open so long) in between filling 1 and filling 2. She chatted with the assistant the entire time and didn’t say another word to me. It felt like she had lost sight of the fact that she was working on a person. As she worked to fill my tooth, the pressure on my gums from the mouth piece was painful. I eventually l lifted my hand and said stop. By this time I had tears in my eyes and explained that the mouthpiece hurt and that my jaw was aching from being open so long. I had to do that a couple of times during the work. My old dentist would pause once in a while and ask if I was doing ok, and during lengthy procedures, would give me a chance to rest my mouth every once in a while. This dentist never paused, or asked if I was comfortable, and did not give me a break from having my mouth open for so very long. I left the office feeling very upset and shaken. I couldn’t eat dinner, and it wasn’t because of a sore mouth, but because of feeling so emotional over the experience.
I wrote a letter to Dr. Pagano’s office about it later, and he invited me in to discuss it with him. He listened and responded appropriately and was apologetic. I mentioned that I had a problem with the dental work itself, as well… The two back teeth Dr. Bockhorst filled were next to each other and there was now a curved space between the two teeth, and every time I ate food would stick between the teeth and I had to floss it out… and even that wasn’t easy because the shape of the filling seemed to hold food pretty securely in there, so flossing it out took some time. My gums were getting inflamed between those two teeth. Plus, there was a rough spot that was rubbing my tongue sore. Dr. Pagano asked if I would come back and allow him to redo the fillings. The fillings are much better, much smoother, but I’m still getting food stuck between those two molars. (However, it is still improved and not rough.)
I really wanted to like this office, because the people are nice. Dr. Pagano did try to correct the wrong… but it much more expensive than other dental offices, and the services are not all I expected them to be, especially in light of the price. I personally will not go back.

Friendly, caring and knowledgable staff. The receptionist contacted me multiple times to try and move my appointment up. Loved Delilah and Dr. Pagano! I had a groupon but was treated like a regular patient. Hands down GREAT costumer service!
The only thing I did not care for was the medical radio station playing. I did not enjoy hearing about spleens, fluids, sores and surgical procedures AT ALL. The waiting room would be much more pleasant listening to soft music or silence at that matter.

I found this place when I went to La Bonne Bouchee. Looks like it is a good place for dentistry. I want to give it a try.
The first time I called, it would take more than a month for a appointment to meet our schedule. I called my previous dentistry, it would take longer. So I called Artistic Dentistry again, it was so lucky this time I got a good time.
They spent almost 2 hours on a new patient teeth cleaning and X-​ray. The teeth are deeply cleaned now. Highly satisfied.

I, as well as the other reviewers, originally came to Artistic Dentistry on a Groupon, and absolutely LOVED it (not something I have ever uttered in regards to a dentist’s visit!) The secretary was pleasant when I made the appointment and treated me like a fully-​paying client (I have been frowned upon and forgotten at a few establishments due to my Groupon status).
I waited 15, tops. My hygienist, DELILAH, was, as everyone has already mentioned, AMAZING! She explained everything she was doing, cleaned and examined every tooth (they use high-​tech x-​ray machines, and proceed to go through each tooth and type up a full report on the state of affairs in one’s mouth!)
This was THE MOST THOROUGH cleaning I have ever gotten. The dentist, Dr. Pagano, came in afterwards, greeted me warmly, and wrote a referral for an issue that needs taking care of. I felt like a VIP throughout the whole process, and came back a few weeks later to get my CUSTOMIZED whitening trays! (I got before photos taken, was shown how to use them, and am happy to say my teeth are now at the whitest shade possible!)
I would HIGHLY recommend Artistic Dentistry. The whole team is professional and fun. I left feeling like a million dollars and had spent only $ 57! (I have set up future appointments and refuse to go to another dentist again!) I do not hesitate to say that was Delilah’s exceptional service that prompted me to write this review!

I originally came to Artistic Dentistry on a Groupon, and had a positive experience with the x-​rays, cleaning, and whitening. The staff and Dr. Pagano are very friendly. I returned for a routine cleaning, and although I was put off by the wait (20 minutes), I did appreciate that the office was open late enough to make it in after work.
The wait was well worth it — Delilah was my hygienist this time. She gave me the most thorough cleaning that I have ever had, without causing any pain. I floss daily and brush 2x a day, and was surprised to have so much cleaning going on — but then I noticed her magnifiers and realized that she was paying much closer attention to detail. I could definitely tell by touch and sight that my teeth very extremely clean. I noticed a whiter shade just from cleaning, no whitening.
She was informative and a great resource for all of my questions and curiosities about my dental care, as well as very friendly. I would highly recommend going to Delilah at Artistic Dentistry. She is awesome at her job! I’m still very impressed with her attention to detail and how clean my teeth felt after my cleaning.

As a graduate student, I went to the low-​income clinic for the past year and a half, trying to scrape by. It was horrifying. I’ve never really been impressed by a dentist. I actually like getting my teeth cleaned though, so I’ve decided to work some extra hours so I could have a decent dentist. Delilah cleaned my teeth and did AN AMAZING JOB! The most thorough, kind cleaning I’ve ever had. Fantastic. I floss and brush religiously, but apparently the shoddy past teeth cleanings had taken their toll, and Delilah brought them back to their former sparkling glory. They have a mini teeth camera to show you where you have build up or cavities, so it really connects to show you where you’ve not quite been reaching. Dr. Pagano was the perfect doctor as well, quick, gentle, and humorous (but not corny and weird).
I came in on a Groupon, and I was not pressured to come back for my cavities or anything else. There was no hard sell to upgrade at all. If you have a chance grab at their Groupon if it comes around again. They won a new customer for sure– I’m a dental-​aholic so they’ve got a good customer in me! Worth the money I’ll be spending.
