I have to say, when I’m looking for an early night out where I can go have a couple drinks, maybe an app or two, have some decent conversation, at a location that is not a full out bar and is close to home… Chelo’s seems to be that place for me! The bar is fairly large and spacious as is the dinning area. Even when it is crowded during the evening/night time hours, it still has a spacious feeling. The staff is friendly and very attentive. The bar is kept very clean which is a huge plus for me! I had a hankering for some good ‘olé, messy looking but finger-licking good, nachos and potato skins. I also wanted a drink or two but I didn’t feel like hitting a bar or driving somewhat far(I mean this is Rhode Island after all… Nothing is really THAT far lol) so My hubby and I decided to take a drive down the street. We were able to get a seat right away at the bar, which by the way has televisions all around and playing some sort of sports… Another big plus, and we ordered our drinks and apps. The Nachos came with chili, olives, cheese, banana pepper rings, salsa. For an additional cost we added sour cream and guacamole. We did have to ask for extra chili for the nachos as not very came on them. The potato skins were okay. I would have liked more bacon pieces on the potatoes. We will be back here for our early nights out!

Visited the restaurant this week and have to compliment the waitress and manager on customer service. One of the items was not up to par. The waitress noticed this and asked if she could replace the item or bring something else. My wife said it was okay and not necessary. Without us knowing she advised the manager of this and he came over. He convinced us to let him try again and he brought another plate of the same item to us. It was much better this time. He agreed that the first dinner was flawed. Both the waitress and the manager provided excellent customer service in satisfying us. Congratulations to them.

On Friday night our takeout order was messed up. We called back and it was taken care of immediately. Mess ups happen, how you take care of them is what matters. Foods always good. I called to ask the managers name and was told it was one of two Jays or a Chris. Thank you who ever it was lol.

Always attentive and friendly waitstaff. Always easy to get a table. Food is comfort food and is excellent! I don’t have a bad thing to say about this place. I love the lobster roll. The clam cakes and chowder are awesome! Idaho nachos were really super! They have a choo choo train that you can make go around the place for a quarter and the proceeds go to a Children’s charity.

I live down the street but I haven’t been here in years– until I came here for lunch with my aunt today. Service was good, especially since there were only a few tables in the huge dining room. I ordered the French onion soup. No complaints. My aunt ordered chicken fingers and fries. You can’t really mess that up. Definitely a solid spot for comfort food. The price point is perfect for large families and the bar looks like it would be a nice spot to watch a game. All in all, I would return to my neighborhood Cranston location. Hopefully it’s sooner rather than later!

This will be short and sweet… burgers are among the best we’ve ever had. Great server, Miranda, and family-friendly atmosphere to watch Sunday football. Oh… and ½ price apps all day Sunday.

Menu is not vegetarian friendly, and honestly mediocre at best even for a meat eater. There are so many better places in Cranston, but I give them 3 stars only because my husband likes the rotisserie chicken deal on Sundays. But again, very basic stuff here.

This one of my favorite local chain restaurants. They have the best clam cakes and chowder. Nice bar set up with plenty flat screen TVs.

I used to love this Chelo’s. Since they remodeled it is more of a bar scene. The burger I order(The Met) was horrible. I order it well done but it seemed to be gross juicy even though it was well. When I order a burger well I do not expect to see ANY kind of juice. One of the people in my party order his medium well and it can out pretty much RAW. Needless to say it went back. .Everyone in the party finished their food and the person with the medium well raw burger still did not have their burger. When he did finally receive it we told them it was to late. They offered to box the burger but at that point we had had it.

I had friends visiting from Cali and they wanted clam chowder. So where else is there to go but Chelo’s? I love the service, the booths and the food. I opted for seafood chowder but they were very happy with the clam chowder. The seafood chowder is wonderful and I may never go back to clam chowda. Additionally we got the appetizer sampler. That was okay. I just kept thinking«I don’t need this!» for all the calories.

My husband and I have fallen in love with this Chelo’s. It is remodeled and very updated. The food specials are amazing! For under $ 10 you get a salad, the special of the night and dessert. I have been ordering the chicken pot pie on Tuesday night. The crust is flakey and it is total comfort food. We always get the clam cakes, which are the best in RI. The staff is always friendly and professional. They have many food specials. Check out the menu, because there are specials for every night of the week. You can’t beat the price, and the food is made fresh. I have many food allergies and have no problem eating there. This particular Chelo’s has become our favorite restaurant!

I’ve always known Chelo’s as an average family eatery with average food. However, I have to say that I was totally blown out of the water with the quality of the food here. I ordered the buffalo chicken mac & cheese and it was, by far, the best I’ve had anywhere. There were definitely several kinds of cheese in the sauce and it was freshly made, and the chicken was tender, flavorful and spicy. Also, you CANNOT go wrong with the $ 4 margaritas!

Nice little restaurant with a great Bar with a bunch of flat screens. Certainly a place to catch the game. The food is good though, don’t get me wrong. Friendly staff. Turkey Club, Meatloaf, Clam Chowder all great selections! :)

Been going to this Chelo’s location since I was a little kid and they always seemed tired and bland. In early 2012 they suddenly closed down and construction sites surrounded the place. Later in 2012 they reopened with a full interior remodel and some very cool tweaks to the menu. When you walk in there is now a 25 person bar as the centerpiece, surrounded by the tables. It’s open, airy and well lit — no more vinyl seats from the 70’s, no dinky 5 person bar at the entrance and they got rid of that way too retro glass desert case. If you haven’t been in a while, head back and try it again. p.s. the train is still near the ceiling and rounds the front dining area and bar.

Same food they’ve always had and consistently bad service. I’ve come to the new and improved version a few times for drinks and bites after work. It is pretty much guaranteed that if you sit at a table in the bar area instead of at the actual bar you will be completely ignored for the entire night. Need menu’s? Have to get them yourself. Want to order something? Have to walk up to the bar and order with one of the bartenders because they are too busy chatting with friends to come to you. Want more drinks? Again, walk to the bar. They make no apologies for their service and will even blame you for not«flagging them down» when you want something. Why, you ask, do I continue to sit there knowing the service is terrible? Because I work long days and I like beer. Bars are beer. I leave it at 3 stars for the $ 2 drafts.

Chelo’s is always a great go-to place, for simple cheap dining. The family atmosphere makes a comfortable meal for my husband and I and our newborn. I like to stick to the basics here, burgers, sandwiches, and the occasional chicken or turkey dinner. Although the clam chowder is great, I stay far away from the seafood. I have gotten sick to my stomach on two different occasions after eating the baked scrod from this location. Desserts are the best.

Good, reasonably priced family restaurant for burgers and basic home-style menu items — chicken, burgers and pasta. The clam cakes, by the way, are still the best. I hate walking into a restaurant near closing with a large party, but that’s what we did on a Sunday night. The staff reacted well, and both the service and food was very good. I enjoyed a steak sandwich, loaded with mushrooms, onions and cheese. Others in our party ordered the French meat pie, baked scrod and burgers with no complaints. My only criticism — and maybe it’s a sign of the times — was the portions at Chelo’s seem to be shrinking. Even the sundae’s we ordered for dessert(though very inexpensive at $ 3.95) were lost in the big sundae glass.
