History

Established in 2006.

After over 20 years as a personal trainer, Bill DeSimone opened Optimal Exercise in 2006, so that he could deliver his Joint Friendly Fitness approach to clients, without the distractions of the trendier aspects of the industry.

His experience with his own training and that of his clients, his certifications and continuing education, plus his research into biomechanics and rehabilitation, all come together in the Joint Friendly approach.

Business Owner

Bill started as a personal trainer with the Sports Training Institute in NYC in 1983. Along the way he has been certified first by the NSCA during the 1990s, and currently by ACE as a Health Coach (since 2006) and Orthopedic Exercise Specialist. In addition to the personal training, Bill has written two manuals emphasizing the anatomy and biomechanics of exercise: Moment Arm Exercise (2004) and Congruent Exercise: How to Make Weight Training Easier on Your Joints (2012). He also regularly presents to industry and general audiences.
