A very small place, with very unhappy staff that are intentionally very rude. It is not a welcoming place at all. Four Roses went from my favorite bourbon to a bourbon I will never buy again. I dislike consuming things made by unhappy people. It’s bad aura. Beware, the tasting room is by invitation only. Although there is no sign, and the tasting room doors are made of glass, and it looks like you are allowed to walk in, you are not welcome there, and people will yell at you for making a mistake. The store itself is extraordinarily small and cluttered. There is no purpose to this whole place, other than as a cash cow for the foreign owned brand. People from Kentucky don’t like Four Roses. I was highly discouraged from visiting this place, and now I know why. Save yourself a trip, some grief, and awkwardly navigating a cluttered store. Four Roses is the antithesis of Kentucky.

Four roses is my favorite bourbon. Disappointed with the experience. Staff unwelcoming. Small space. Tasting timing and location poorly organized. Maybe I went in with high expectations.

Welcoming, friendly, informative, delicious. We didn’t get to take a tour, but Terry shared the history of Four Roses with us along with tastings of their 3 bourbons. $ 5 for the tasting and you get to keep the glass. Fun and worthwhile stop!

Cindy was awesome. She led us on a great tour and I had a good time. There were only two of us in the group, so it felt super casual and not scripted. I would definitely recommend doing this tour and asking for Cindy as your guide! Also, get a bottle of private selection while you are at it.

I was very surprised to find that the warehouse and bottling facility of Four Roses was not listed only the distillery in Lawrenceburg. This seems to be something many people do not know about or think it is not necessary to visit. We arrived bright and early for the 9am tour surprised to find out it was only me an my wife on the tour so we basically received a private tour of the facility. As we were just starting the tour outside the gift shop Jim Rutledge the soon to be retired master distiller for nearly 50 years pulled up to start his day and stopped to shake our hands and say hello. He even took a couple of pictures with us and at the conclusion of our tour he was still in the gift shop talking with a few people. He was kind enough to personally sign a bottle he selected for the gift shop for me! This was the highlight of the trip for me and something I will never forget for sure! If you are a bourbon or Four Roses fan you cannot skip this tour it really gives you an inside look at the rickhouses, barreling and bottling. If you are a four roses fan you know there are many things that separate/differentiate it from the other distilleries. The main difference in their 10 recipes, but the other lesser known difference is all their rickhouses are one story where most everyone else uses multi story rickhouses. This gives four roses that consistent taste we have come to know since there is not nearly as much temperature variation from top to bottom.

Four roses accommodated a private tasting for us and saved us some time since we were in a hurry to get back to Louisville! They also gave away the tasting glass. Didn’t do the distillery tour, but very pleased with Candace as our«tasting guide»

If you’re not very careful, you’ll miss the turn. However, the tasting experience is wonderfully led and I enjoyed their Bourbons. The Single Barrel is by far my favorite!

Becky was awesome!!! Great tour, having done four tours in two days it was somewhat repetitive. Showed the high end bottling facility which was very cool, no one else showed the bottling process. Beautiful property!

This review is for the tasting room where they age the barrels, not the distillery(though that is awesome too). Five bucks gets you a sweet Four Roses glass to keep and a variety of samples while being educated by a knowledgeable employee. The perfect day would be to visit the distillery and then here but they are an hour apart so that might be tough. If you are in the Louisville area and want to sample some good bourbon, try Four Roses.

Really loved our visit to Four Roses. They have a very cool history and their tour was enjoyable. Loved the tasting at the end(and they let you keep your glass!). Your ticket also gets your entry to their barrel aging location, so if you have time when you visit, I’d highly recommend planning to visit both locations.

We popped in here for a quick view of the gift shop and ended up doing a quick tasting first! My sister and I split a dram, because it was early in the day and a Sunday… so we wanted to take it a little easy(er). We were able to try three — the lady pouring was the least generous of all the pours(definitely under the 0.5 ounces that most other places were pouring) — what makes it worse was that she was eyeballing everything, so it was uneven and even more noticeably small. Not sure if her sister was the manager of the place or if security cameras were on her or what. but — just beware if you go on a Sunday(we did) and you get cheapy pours… Granted we cant complain too much because it was only a $ 5 tasting. We bought a few bottles(I forget the recipes we grabbed but my fiancé will recite them in his sleep for months to come)… and we were able to keep our chic four roses tasting glasses, which was actually really nice — I liked them a lot.

Another five star visit… Thank you Tony for updating my bourbon education. You and Four Roses were a highlight of my mom’s first trip to the Bourbon Trail. Reminds me of the personal experience of Napa… in the«old» days !

This was one of the best tours we’ve been on so far during our Whiskey Trail road trip from California to Kentucky. Very knowledgeable tour guide(wish I remembered her name!). They stop production during the summer so we didn’t get to see any spirits being made, but we did get to see everything else. Four Roses scrutinizes every load of grain that comes in… they only use Non GMO grains and they source them as locally as possible. Left with two tshirts and a bottle of Single Barrel Bourbon only available at the distillery!

We went to the bottling location not the distillery… We visited in early March on a rainy day and we were the only ones there. We had a blast! The woman who gave us the tour was extremely friendly and super knowledgable! The tour and the tasting is free and you get to go see the bottling and barreling process. One of our favorite stops on our trip!

The Kentucky Bourbon Trail: Discover Your«Unbridled Spirit» One Tasting at a Time Once you arrive at Four Roses it may seem like you’ve been transported to Northern California. The Spanish mission architecture and well-coiffed grounds are a little disorienting, but you immediately know you are, in fact, in Kentucky as that exquisite Kentucky drawl greets you from any member of the Four Roses tour staff. The tour itself is pretty blah. The tasting is of four of their proprietary bourbons, but little explanation of each bourbon or its profile is given, so it’s a good thing that you learned a thing or two about how to taste a bourbon at the previous distilleries. Pretty good stuff though, especially the Single Barrel!

Four roses was my second stop– it’s about 40 minutes from Bardstown if that’s where you’re staying. I agree with Theo that you should come here after you eat! I like bourbon, but they give you generous samples of three different kinds and I wasn’t feeling so hot afterwards! This was the only distillery I visited with an intro video and that was very helpful. Also the tour takes you through each step of the distilling process; however, they do not store their barrels on site so you don’t see those. Our tour guide was Agnes and she turned out to be much better than expected. After the tour and tasting you can buy a cute Four Roses glass for $ 3.

Four roses had a nice location, beautiful Spanish tiled buildings and a nice spraling space. Video then tour of the bourbon making process. Tastes of their bourbons was at the end and was good.

This should be your stop after lunch. Like most other bourbon distilleries, tour is prerequisite to taste. The tours are at the top of the hour, the last one at 3pm.(yes they are open Sundays) This distillery is small, and sans a restaurant/café. The tour is structured the same as the others; fifteen minute video followed by a tour of the grounds. We were able to sweet talk the gift shopkeeper to give us a tasting(after the video) while others went on the tour. Four types are tasted: yellow, small batch, and single barrel. The single barrel has some flavor to it; I was too hot and buzzing to remember exactly how it tasted. They also serve an un-official white dog tasting. Ask ‘em! Law breakin’ tip: Bring a flask/bottle and while no one’s looking, fill from the twenty year aged barrel in the the hallway when you walk in.. It’s likely to spill so keep the car runnin’.
