History

Established in 2009.

ASE Master Tech Dan Adema has a long and storied career working in the Automotive Repair industry in the San Gabriel Valley for over 25 years. Opening Our King Auto Repair is a dream come true for Dan and his family.

Dan has attended many classes, seminars, and workshops pertaining to operating superior automotive repair shops. Now he’s putting all of his ideas to use in his own shop.

ASE Master Tech Dan Adema has been Curt Zimmermann’s mechanic for nearly 20 years. They met at First Church of the Nazerene in Pasadena years ago, and have stayed in touch ever since.

Dan is a 1982 graduate of Los Angeles Trade and Technical College. Curt graduated from Biola University and decided to open a business in Azusa Pacific Cougar territory!

Had a fuel pump go bad on my 1998 Mustang Gt and this was the first place I wanted to go since they do great work and they do it fast although pricing is quite a bit more than other places, Kings wont disappoint. (Although they did manage to do just that this time, but not a big deal. Mind you it was raining hard this day) Once my car was towed there they found out what it was and called me for every step. (which is nice to keep us informed, *They also provided a shuttle for me* which was AWESOME) Once the work was done, I arrived only to see my car with the driver window nearly half open! It was rained on inside, my buttons, seat, dash, and door panel were wet! So much so that the following day in the morning there was a lot of condensation inside my car. (I had to wipe it dry with towels) This is sort of a rant though. The work they did was SOLID and the car runs perfect. Not everyone is flawless and thats fine, I would recommend and come here again if my car needs work done! Leo and Curt are great guys and really know their stuff. Their mechanics are great guys and not grumpy like most places. All in all, im very satisfied.

This place took care of me… Leonel went out of his way to diagnose my truck and find the issue. He kept me posted through out the whole process and advised me on the repairs needed and approximate time frame it would be completed in. If they don’t get it right the first time they will make sure they find the problem and get your vehicle fix right. Thanks again Leonel and the staff for taking care of me. Will definitely come back.

I had a great experience at Our King Auto Repair.
I was running late for a meeting when my car started making a horrific noise. I just went to the closest mechanic, Our King – they fixed my problem in a flash and I was on my way. I’ve never had an experience like that before.

Ok to start nobody ever wants to have to take a trip to the mechanic that’s for sure. You’ve heard the horror stories of getting ripped off an lied to… I’ve been there before, but these guys are above those shenanigans. The most honest and trustworthy mechanic I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with, and I have a few mechanic friends but I trust Curt and Lionel more. I’ve taken 2 cars here for different reasons and the price was reasonable and the work is excellent. They make recommendations for things but it’s never been pressured and you don’t have that gut wrenching feeling like you’re about to get hosed. I recommend this shop to everyone.

This place is amazing !!!
They are fast and very honest everything is explained and they do fantastic work.
I recently purchased another car and stopped in to get fluids checks without an appointment I waited 3 minutes until they took my car back after about 10 minutes the mechanic said I was a bit low on fluid and he went ahead and added it when I asked what I owe they said nothing and Curt walked me out to my car… I will forever bring my car here ((To all the single ladies)) you can trust this place I will NEVER go anywhere else Thank you Curt and staff :)

Been coming here for a while now but only just got the chance to write a review. Curt is the man that runs the show and he is great at what he does. He is an honest guy and it helps that we share the same faith as well. Dan’s knowledge and experience is absolutely missed at the shop but Lionel has filled the shoes well. In terms of work done on my car, I’ve taken my car here for regular oil changes, to having shocks replaced, fuel injector service, differential service, tire replacements, different sensors checked here and there. Let’s just say since I’ve been bringing my car here, I can say my car is running better than most if not all of the other 10 year old cars.

I love Curt and the guys here. They’re always expedient, friendly, and honest. I never feel like they’re trying to sell me something I don’t need. Their faith based approach keeps them humble and honest.
Affordable regular oil changes here. I’ll gladly come back here. They also work with extended warranties and find the best deals through the warranty companies. Their benefit is to help the customer.
They’re cheaper than the dealership I purchased from. Always offer a ride home when I need it.

Both Kurt and Lionel were extremely helpful and professional. As soon as I told them the price had got else where they said they could beat it. I had my rack and pinion replaced and only took one day as promised. They also did a courtesy 30 point inspection on my car. I will definitely be going back the next time I need work done and I will be referring anyone that needs work done in the Covina area! They make you feel like they care about you and your car, not like most mechanics!

In addition to regular oil changes I have done several big repairs here and am always amazed that spending hundreds of dollars on my car becomes a pleasant experience at Our King. When the people are great and do great work, I guess it feels good to pay them good money.
Also, each time I have had my car serviced they have offered to drive me back to my house and pick me up again when the car is ready (for free).
Also I have never seen Kurt without his hat.

The service was ok. They charged me $ 82 for an oil change. $ 82 dollars! For an oil change!!! He looked me straight in the eye, lied to me, and charged me over double thinking I was just some ignorant kid. I’m never going back and I would not recommend them.

This place ROCKS! Curt and Dan took care of my 2002 Buick Rendezvous which had A LOT of problems. New brakes, alignment, new tires, engine problems, new A/​C, and even tightened the parking brake cable without me asking (something I just got used to). The price was more than fair and the work was done professionally.
To answer some others’ complaints about check engine lights — It’s not a diagnosing tool, just an indicator that «something» is wrong. The best thing to do is to repair what is «most likely» the problem, and then go from there. Also, there’s only one light. You may have 2 or 3 problems that can cause this, but by fixing the most likely cause, the light may come on again.
All in all, I’ll be bringing my cars here for years to come. I’ve also already recommended Our King to friends and family, which is rare for me.

I was in the area to purchase a vehicle. The shop was completely full (even the parking lot was full) but Curt was able to squeeze me in for a pre-​purchase inspection. From the time I dropped it off it was only about an hour (and the In n Out down the street made that a breeze). Dan gave a thorough diagnosis and seemed very knowledgeable about an issue with the car that wasn’t straightforward. On top of that, the price they charged was more than fair. Thanks guys!

GREAT customer service & reliable and fast services on your car!
I’ve been driving around with terrible brakes and I didn’t even know it until I started hearing this terrible metal scraping sound. My bf eventually took a look at my car and realized that I barely had any brake padding left. Since it was the day before Thanksgiving, I figured it might be difficult to find a reliable auto shop that was still open. Luckily I found Our King Auto Repair on Unilocal which was only 3 miles away from my home. I called and immediately Dan answered and told me he was able to squeeze me in to take a look at my car.
When I entered the address on my GPS for whatever reason it kept directing me to the wrong location. Dan was able to assist me in locating the shop. It’s actually located in the corner of Arrow Hwy and Grand Ave (right across from Yum Yum Donuts). After an initial inspection of my brake pads they were able to order new pads and complete the installation for me within an hour. I arrived around 3:40pm and got out by 5pm! Dan also did a road test for me afterwards to ensure that the brakes were working appropriately. I’m happy to report that its been about a week now and my brakes are working wonderfully. I was afraid at first that the damage to my brakes would require me to change my rotors which would have cost me an arm and leg but Dan assured me that my rotors were still working fine. I know a lot of shady auto repair shops could have easily swayed me into purchasing new rotors, so I really appreciate this type of integrity at Our King Auto Repair. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again for any other type of repairs.

Pleasant service from friendly staff.
Couldn’t resist getting a groupon deal for 3 oil change, since I put 5000 miles on my car every month and used that in 3 months time. The service is very friendly and they definitely make you feel like a valued customer. The oil change took an hour each time, which isn’t very fast. The plus side is that they do have WIFI for customers, so you can surf the Internet or stream porn… I mean movies if you like.
The waiting room is pretty small, so it maybe better to drop off car instead of waiting.

When it comes to auto shops and mechanics, we all know that TRUST is issue #1. I’m absolutely clueless in the world of speedometer seal leaks and cooling fans malfunctions, and I really don’t want anyone to take advantage of me and my money. Well, I think I found the business where I can rest assured me and my car are getting the best treatment possible.
Let me just tell you what you are signing up for giving your favorite vehicle into the hands of Dan and Kurt:
1) Exceptional work ethics — they are honest, trustworthy and extremely thorough; they want your business and they do their best to win your trust and respect.
2) Great expertise — Dan has been in this business for many years and he definitely knows his stuff (just look at all his certificates on the wall!). They also have a good team working in the shop.
3) Excellent customer service: respect, patience, and attention to every customer. They will explain everything that is wrong with your car, what might go wrong, and how to prevent it. They will also offer you a ride in case you need to leave your car there. They even have decent coffee and WiFi if you decide to wait (btw, In-​N-​Out is a 5 minute walk :)
4) Fair price and discounts — they go out of their way to ensure you are getting the best deal. To their regular customers, they offer $ 25 of any recommended service of $ 150 and higher, which is a significant help.
This is one place I will not be reluctant to recommend to anyone. I switched from a perfectly good mechanic to them. It’s just because they are so much better than good. They are legit. Enough said, check for yourself.
