Danae is THE BEST piano teacher I’ve ever had. I found her on Unilocal last year, and I’m so glad I did. I didn’t expect that I will meet someone like her. She is patient, kind, professional, and a very talented pianist and composer. I’ve listened to her recordings and compositions, and she is really good. I enjoy my lessons with her every single week. And every time we are done, I leave her studio inspired and encouraged to become a better pianist/​musician. She individualizes her lessons to match my needs as a student. She is very thorough and she expects that you do your best at all times. She gives lots of practice suggestions, and tries different methods and techniques to help me understand challenging concepts, or when something is just really confusing and «difficult.» She also motivates me to have regular practice hours throughout the week. I’ve played the piano for many years as a child, but I started with her as a beginner. Now, with her guidance and support as a piano teacher, I am starting to play better and better each day. Thank you so much, Danae for helping me reach my goals. :) Lastly, I recently moved quite far from her studio, but I will continue to have lessons with her because she is that awesome!!! I highly recommend her to anyone. =)

When my son turned 8 years old, he requested to play piano. Ms. Danae was referred to us by another accomplished music teacher who respected her professionalism, talent, and creativity. Since my son had no prior music background, we decided to ask her to be his teacher. She began with music theory and simple pieces. Within one year, my son’s understanding of music theory opened the opportunity for her to teach him about music composition. Within one year, she guided my son through the basic steps to compose his first piece in which he played at her summer recital. He currently completed his fourth composition for an upcoming competition.
Ms. Danae seeks out complex and interesting pieces that will challenge my son to grow in his musical abilities. She encourages and gives her students opportunities for performances, so they learn to be confident and share their music with others.
We are very grateful that Ms. Danae has been a part of our lives. She has helped him to mature not only as a musician but also as a person. She may have higher expectations that other teachers, but she is committed and dedicated to her work and her students.

We have gone through multiple piano teachers for my daughter. From the first lesson we had we knew we finally found the one. My daughter immediately connected with her even though her teaching techniques are much tougher than all her other teachers. She has been extremely patient and has helped Keana work through the bad habits. She is the real deal. No teacher before had been so specific about the forms, the seating position, her arms, her hands and she explains the anatomy and why these forms are critical to being a successful piano player. She pays close attention to theory as well. The mystery for me is how someone like her is here in Covina and I have the chance to have my daughter study with her. Danae Vlasse is an exceptionally insightful, dedicated and patient piano teacher. She meets you where you are and guides you to your musical goals, whether its preparing for public performance, writing music, or if you’re a beginner, learning how to play the piano.
While Mrs. Vlasse specializes in classical music, she also teaches pop repertoire. She teaches both children and adults, and she is well-​known in the LA area for helping committed adult amateur pianists improve and refine their musical craft. When I first took lessons with her, I had not touched a piano in many years. With her dedication, I improved so much that I was able to participate in competitions, including the Chicago Adult Amateur Piano Competition.
Be aware that she has high standards and expects her students to commit the time and work needed to become true musicians, no matter the age. She provides opportunities to play in recitals and competitions, and she requires younger students to perform in recitals. For intermediate and advanced-​level adult students, she also provides opportunities to participate in master classes with well-​known music professors from USC, Cal State Long Beach, and other universities with excellent music programs.
