This restaurant serves good delicious vietnamese food but beware that when you ask for your check, they don’t give any and direct you to pay at the register, cash only. The lady owner/cashier rings up your tab and charges you way more than the written price on the menu. This is almost consistent specially if you’re a party of 2 or more where a buck more here and there may not be noticable. Make sure to make a list and price of your order, add tax so you know what to expect to pay. By the way, they charge 25 cents for to go containers too. This is on top of your padded bill. I come here once in a while but it always happens and everytime i would dispute and she’d correct it like was just a casual mistake.

Wonderful little gem in an otherwise non-descript location. Went in there tonight(04÷01÷16) and had some great Phở-kin’ soup!(LOL ;-) Oh, and those Spring Rolls… WOW!!! So delicious. Light, crunchy, full of bright & fresh flavors… and the side of peanut dipping sauce compliments the roll so perfectly. I will get more than just two next time I dine there because they are excellent! Comfortable seating, great service, a clean cozy setting, and just a nice place to eat some delicious Vietnamese food. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!!! P. S. Order some of their Thai Iced Tea to drink!!! *drops mic*

–Definitely mom and pop restaurant, not really busy –Owners are extremely nice! –Good prices –I had the Phở Tai and it was a little sweeter than most phở I’ve tried, but it tasted great. Odd that they use lemons from a home tree it seems, instead of limes(like another Unilocaler mentioned). –Only thing that concerned me was that their condiments seemed old as if they have been sitting there for a while, which made me hesitant to use. –Overall, I agree with other Unilocalers, not the best but it’s definitely decent. I’d be willing to give it another shot :)

I finally decided to try this little hole-in-the-wall spot around the corner from my house, even though I have another phở spot that I drive 10 minutes to. I’m pleased to say that I’ll be making the switch to support this little spot! Though the broth isn’t extremely flavorful like some of my favorite spots in LA, it’s nothing a little hot sauce can’t fix. The portion was more than enough, where usually I order extra from other spots. I loved their to-go packaging and how sweet the family who owns it is. Cash only spot. Support local mom and pop shops!

This is one of my favorite places to eat. It is a hole in the wall but their phở is the best. Egg rolls are a must. It’s a family owned and operated business and the whole family is very hardworking and nice

My family and I are regulars at this viet restaurant. It’s a great hole-in-the-wall mom and pop shop. The owners btw are so nice. The main reason for the five stars are their egg rolls. They are the best! I compare every other vietnamese restaurant and their eggrolls to this place. They are also very generous with the vegetables they provide to wrap the egg roll in a lettuce piece with pickled carrots etc. I don’t exactly know the proper names of everything so forgive me lol We’ve also ordered to-go from them many times, and they wrap everything with care and still provide generous amounts of condiments for phở and eggrolls.

I now come regularly and I am a fan. It is a family run restaurant and the whole family is sweet. I go in for my regular rare beef bowl and it hits the spot in rainy days or cold days. I walk in, they know what I want and my soup is ready quick. I appreciate their speedy service and their good food. Their egg rolls are good too. I would definitely recommend coming here. Support your family owned businesses that try to keep their service and food with good quality!

So I’ve been meaning to try this place for the 5 years I’ve lived in Azusa/Covina area. I was feeling under the weather and it was a Friday during Lent, so that meant no meat for me. I thought I can do veggie phở. So I finally stopped in. I ended up ordering shrimp phở and shrimp fried rice. I was scared the shrimp phở might be gross lol so the fried rice was for back up. For a Friday evening, this place was quiet as can be. It’s family owned. I waited for about 15 minutes for my food, which is awesome and that means it was prepared fresh. Got home, tasted the broth and it was good. It had a hint of sweetness to it. I thought the amount of shrimp it came with was not enough. They serve with mint leaves as opposed to basil. This just means thats what they use in the region they come from. It’s not wrong or weird as others have stated in their reviews. I was disappointed that there was no cilantro included but that’s ok. The shrimp was fresh and overall it was decent phở. The shrimp fried rice was a bit bland. I doctored it up with soy sauce and some fresh lime juice. Overall, not the best phở I’ve ever had, but no where close to the worst. I will be back to give this place a second chance!

This was my first time here at the restaurant. The restaurant is clean and the couple which are the owners were nice to us. The food was great. We tried the Phở Soup, hot and spicy chicken with steamed rice, and egg rolls. Everything was fresh and tasty. The prices are reasonable and great customer service.

Try the phở, rare streak. Its a soup with noodles and thin sliced steak. Put a little hot sauce in it to spice it up. Egg rolls are the bomb also. Family ran business…

Really only had the phở here so review is for that. Best in San Gabriel valley and tried places from Alhambra to Whittier. Only olace I’ve had better is in Westminster. Broth is flavorful and had plenty of meat and veggies. Décor is a bit old and service is hit and miss. Never rude but son or daughter tend to provide better service than what I presume to be thier mother. Really is the language barrier more than anything. Phở is always delivered quickly and hot. I try to order other items but phở is so good. Must go with a group next time to try menu family style. Will update when I do.

let me tell you a story… came here for lunch with a couple coworkers. a few of my coworkers have been here before and said they have speedy service. we decided to come since we were short on time and its really close to work. the restaurant was relatively empty, maybe 2 or 3 tables besides us. the waitress(owner? one woman show?) came out to take our orders. 2 of us got a phở dish, and the other 2 ordered broken rice. the waitress came back because she forgot one of them — a broken rice dish. we waited… and waited… and waited. 30 minutes pass and we’re wondering whats going on. this is when speculation started that perhaps shes the only person here, taking orders and cooking everything by herself. our food finally arrives, and my dish is incorrect — i am the other broken rice dish(not the one she came back to clarify). instead of broken rice, i received a bun dish. romaine on the bottom, noodles, and pork with an egg roll on top. the dish was decent, but it wasn’t what i ordered and i wasn’t going to wait another 35 minutes for the correct one to come out. all in all, i may return if im craving vietnamese food at work, but probably not…

This place is good but not great. The take out is quick and easy, they accept cash only. My only problem was that when I tried to fit the noodles in my container it was too small also I received a small amount of meat. I had purchased the super to share with my bf and when we split it we literally only had two pieces of meat… Im not asking for the whole cow but realistically that is a major flaw and I have read other reviews that say the same.

Don’t let the name fool you. It’s a Vietnamese restaurant. When I first pulled up to this restaurant with a co-worker, I was initially confused. The sign said Phở, but the door said Bamboo Garden. I don’t know if it was an identity crisis or they didn’t get around to change the name. Either way, I decided to give it a try. Inside, the place was small with enough table and chairs for maybe 20 – 30 people. The décor was lackluster with a few plants near the entrance and a TV near the kitchen. Overall, the place was not bad. As for their service, I can’t really give a good judgement since I take my food to go. But with the minimal contact with the staff, they seemed friendly and was quick to expedite my order to the chef. I got my food within 10 minutes of ordering, a huge plus for having only 30 minutes for lunch. The tried their grilled beef with shredded pork and rice, and beef ball phở, on two separate occasions. The portion for the grilled beef with rice is filling. It included rice, beef, shredded pork, salad and fish sauce. I loved the beef, but not enough for the amount of rice they added. The shredded pork was okay, but then again, I am not a huge shredded pork fan. As for their beef ball phở, they separate out the broth and noodles and condiments on to-go orders. It’s understandable; you wouldn’t want the noodles to be completely soggy by the time you eat it. However, it’s a little messy having to add the noodles in the broth because the broth container can’t fit all the noodles and the other«toppings.» I would probably have to to bring a larger container if I decide to order phở again. It was good, but the taste can get boring after awhile. I would go again if I have desperate craving for phở. Don’t forget to carry cash!

Unfortunately My experience was not so good. I lived in the area a few years ago and would frequently getting the BBQ pork and vermicelli which are amazing. I had never tried the Phở and so when I moved back I decided to give it a try. I work in the Vietnamese enclave of Garden Grove and eat Phở at least twice a week from several different favorite spots out that way. The rare beef was not fresh and had a fishy(shiny) appearance. The broth was not hot and the brisket was not there even though it was what I ordered. The Thai Tea is super good and the service is friendly and as I said before the BBQ is top, also the spring rolls have always been great as well

I frequent this place for lunch during the week. This place is small and quaint and the food is pretty good. FOOD — 3 Stars: I usually have the phở here like the beef brisket. The broth is really good and the portions are alright relative to the noodles though I think a little more wouldn’t hurt. More meat would be awesome too, but I guess I can’t complain because the price is really good. I like my broth spicy so I put jalapeño and the chili sauce. They do give you the normal veggies to add to your broth and you can always ask for more. SERVICE — 3 Stars: The level of service varies here. I’ve experienced the quickest service and I’m able to get in and out within ~35 minutes and I’ve had the slowest service where it took over an hour to finish my meal. It all depends who’s helping and if the owner is working alone or if their are others available to help. So, it’s all over. Generally, you have to flag them down to order, for anything extra, and to get your check. This place is CASHONLY. ATMOSPHERE — 3 Stars: This place is ok… there’s nothing spectacular about it. RECOMMENDATION: This place is great for a cheap lunch. With the combination of noodles, meat, and broth, you’ll leave full. Try it out, but don’t expect anything out of this world.

When you first pull into the lot, the southwest corner of San Bernardino and Vincent, you immediately see only Phở 87. You have to look closely to notice that this place is actually called Bamboo Garden. When I feel like eating something that’s both refreshing and fulfilling, Vietnamese is my go-to cuisine. I enjoy this restaurant because the owner is really friendly and knows that we like starting our meal with their awesome egg rolls. The only knock against this place is this. The very first time we went, they had an «A» rating. As a matter of fact, while we were there, they were literally being inspected. The food was really good and we made it a point to go back 2 days later. Much to my chagrin, I noticed that now had a «B» rating. It wasn’t a big deal to me, but If you don’t have any issues with that, I’m sure you’ll enjoy your food.

There phở was good, service was alright and they gave a good portion of egg rolls. The place has been around for awhile and it’s aka name is Phở 87, lol. I’ve been twice and both times a good experience. It’s convenient and inexpensive. They take cash only and it’s hidden in the 99 cent store shopping center. I recommend it!

I have been coming to this Phở restaurant since I was 6. Back in the good ol’ days, when I was always faking sickness by squeezing my armpit down on the thermometer as hard as an elementary school kid possibly could(I never figured out if this method worked), my mom would have to lug me around all day with her because I couldn’t stay home alone. She’d always take me to this place, and because I used to fake sickness almost monthly, I was always treated to a steaming hot bowl of Phở Tai(Rare Steak) or Phở Tai Gan Sach(Rare Steak, Tendon, Tripe) frequently. Momster and my 7 year old self would split a bowl of one of the aforementioned Phở, my portion in a small bowl upon request and the rest for her. As is typical of Phở restaurants, you’re given a miniature garden assortment of greens, bean sprouts, lime wedges and the like. Mom loved those, but I prefer my Phở nice and plain, with maybe just a squeeze of lime. It was a favorite of mine back then, and through the next 16 or so years, I still enjoy it! This is quality Phở given the general lack thereof in this area. Another dish ma-jah always orders is Cha Gio Chao Thom(Egg Rolls and Fried Shrimp Cake). Wrap those egg rolls in a big lettuce leaf and dunk it down in Nuoc Mam(fish sauce). They’re a little stingy on that though so ask for more. The egg rolls are good, the shrimp cake I could take or leave. Now that I’ve reached the end of the review I realize there’s no way squeezing your arm raises the temperature at all haha. Thanks for letting me skip school all those days mother =]

I came by for an early dinner before work at about 5:00PM. There was barely a soul in the dining area, so I was«scurred». Just a tad. I was really craving soup on this day, so I was eagerly anticipating some exceptional phở. Like a robot(of the Jabbawockeez Dancing Machine variety), I ordered the #1. Whoa, Nellie!!! Exceptional was just what I got. Exceptionally sinus-clearing, too! This broth was heavenly! I really wish I could have added extra meatballs. There just wasn’t enough fatty beef, tripe, and tendon for my liking. I also got an order of the Imperial Egg Rolls. They helped me wash down the last of the broth of my huge bowl of #1. They’re almost as legendary as the Lumpia prepared by Dear Old Mom, so you gotsta get these. If you’re not feeling like soup for your visit, order the egg rolls and some fried rice and you are totally good to go!
