Use to come here because it’s walking distance from my house and so convenient. The past 3 times I went I bought tres leches cake that taste like vomit and it was expired didn’t even notice. The 2nd time I bought m&ms and the were expired from June of 2014 and it was jan 2015. I took them back and noticed the whole supply of candy bars were expired. I let the manager know. My last visit there was when I wanted their store sour cream but no one was there to attend to me so I went to get regular central american sour cream and that was expired, in fact all of them were. I grabbed one and went to the from and flagged down a employee and he happened to be the manager. I told him all the sour creams were expired over 2 weeks and he started talking in Spanish to some other employees and told them to take them off shelves before the put new ones on. That was my last straw. I don’t go to rotten ranch anymore.

First time getting hot made food togo, not bad but needed more seasoning or flavor to the chile relleno and the spanish rice. The rice also could of been more tender

So here is the thing, Wednesday and Thursday they have a special if you buy two burritos they cost you 1.50 each… so I just spent less than 10 bucks on food for 6 days. They are yummy too. This place has the best produce as well.

I would give this place 0 Stars if I could. I have given this place many chances and yesterday was the last straw. This market is around the corner from my house so it’s convenient to come here. However, yesterday I went and bought a lb. of shrimp only to go home and find a FLY in the bag of shrimp. Literally embedded in the shrimp. It was absolutely disgusting!!! I took it back and the guy just asked me if I would like a new bag of shrimp. WTF… Um No. I got my money back. Nobody apologized or said anything regarding my complaint. Prior to this incident, there were many other times I came to this market and was not happy with it.

Baja ranch has the best carna asada in town. Don’t get the pre marinated carna, get unmarinated carna and tell them to add marinate sauce in bag. Pre marinated carna asada is more fatty. Best cut of carna asada is unmarinated.

Items bought: Fish Ceviche, Roasted chicken leg quarters, Fruit bowl, tortilla chips I like coming here to get ceviche, you go up to the deli counter and ask the person how many pounds you want. You can also ask for partial, so I asked for half a pound. Price for the regular fish ceviche was $ 6.99/lb, they have shrimp ceviche for $ 7.99/lb. While I was in the area, I saw the roasted chicken in the hot food counter, so I got 2 leg quarters for $ 1.99 each. Another impulse item was the fruit bowl for $ 1.99 that had watermelon, cantalope, honeydew, and a little bit of grapes and pineapple. It was a good deal compared to going to Fresh & Easy for a $ 4 fruit bowl that doesn’t have as much fruit. And it comes with a fork inside! haha The ceviche was nice with big chunks of fish. Roasted chicken was ok, they are big pieces of chicken, but it was slightly dry, and not seasoned much. Fruit bowl is good, all of the melons were sweet.

Good selection of wines from Latin America. The wifey loves to stock up on Tabernero Borgona wine from Peru. Anyhow, we enjoy the wednesday specials on fruits & vegetables and the daily fresh breads.

I had there tacos here last time and they were okay. Had them again and they were so bad. Hard tortillas, big chunks of meat even sour cream out of no where. I just got a fork and ate the meat. The cook was slow, maybe a newb cook. But cmon man he couldn’t even get tacos down and he’s Mexican! I’m Asian and can make better tacos than this! I LOVETACOS. Last time I’ll get tacos here. On a lighter note, their empanadas were good.

Ah! I am torn on this place. I do love the food that they make there, fresh, and affordable, good pan, very cheap produce, but I am white, yes white, and they do kind of serve Mexicans before me, even if I was there first? I don’t understand that, but they are racist against whites…

I usually go to Northgate to get my carnitas family package. A friend told me about this place which is closer. I finally went to check t out and… YES! they had a huge selection of pre made food, better prices, cleaner store, and it is cooer. I will definitely be back and next time, I will stroll the rest of the market.

I am sad because the produce really has been more miss than hit lately. I bought a watermelon the other day that looked like a raw steak inside. I’ve never seen anything like it– it was all pink and white and streaky and really ugly. It didn’t taste too good either. Also, there didn’t have cucumbers. What Mexican grocery doesn’t have cucumbers? That was strange. I do still like my BR and will be back, but I can’t do my total shopping there without supplementing with Von’s or Stater’s for staples.

This place has great deals on hot food and produce. They’ve got their own salsas, chips, tortillas. They have the meat guy, the cheese guy, the salsa guy. I come here for all my produce needs mostly. I can get 4lbs of bananas for $ 1 sometimes. Some days you can get 2 lbs of oranges for $ 1, etc. I usually end up bringing home 3 – 4 grocery bags of produce for $ 5. They’re not so great on other things like cereal or breads. Recently had their tacos from the hot food counter, they’re okay. A little bland. Their chile rellenos are good and flavorful.
