American Leak Detection

Wow — this company was AMAZING! They were recommended by another plumber who did not have the leak detection equipment. We called at 11:00 a.m. and someone was here by noon. The leak was detected and fixed by 1:00. The receptionist was also very knowledgeable and gave ideas on how to know where the leak was. Gene, the technician, was very friendly and got the job done efficiently. They have a new customer for life (although I hope I don’t need their services too often!)
It is great to find such an honest company among all the unethical and arrogant service people who have given me estimates in the past.

After noticing a water drip from the ceiling of my unfinished basement, I called a local plumber who said he had never seen anything like this. He referred me to a copper pipe repair business who without coming to my house said I should re-​pipe the whole house for about $ 11,000, or I could repair some pipes and valves for about $ 1,800. Ridiculous, when that company never came to our house or knew what needed fixing. I then called American Leak Detection and Gene came out to see what was wrong. He found the source of the drip in 3 minutes. It was from a pinhole leak in one pipe. He immediately put a temporary patch on it and returned the next day to make a permanent repair and also replaced 2 gate valves which didn’t operate properly. All this cost only a fraction of the amount the copper pipe repair company asked for a repair that wouldn’t have even fixed the problem. Gene was courteous, a pleasure to deal with and a competent technician and plumber. It is refreshing to find a company as well run and honest as the American Leak Detection Company in Covina, which I highly recommend.

Had a slab leak after a tankless install. Called American Leak and Melissa called me back promptly. This happened on the weekend so I decided to call my home warranty first. They came out and fixed my pressure regulator. The leak stopped. They told me I had to just wait til the leak started again. A whole week past and I decided it’s silly just to sit there and wait.
Called American Leak back and Melissa got Chris out to my house. He told me he wouldn’t be able to find a leak because the meter wasn’t running. Sign of an honest man. I think other companies would just do the detection and charge me even though they didn’t find a leak. I’ve had a few plumbers that fixed things that didn’t need to be fixed. I had a few pipes that were installed weirdly in the garage so I hired Chris to fix it.
A few days past and I asked Chris to come by to give me a quote to re-​pipe the entire house. I won’t go into details but Chris gave me some advice on how I should go about with my leak problem. I was so shocked how honest he was.
If you have a leak, call American Leak Detection, you won’t regret it! Dealing with them will assure you that honest companies still exist!

Had a leak under the slap, they showed up, found the leak and discussed options with me. Up to this point my experience was good. He mentioned that my main shutoff valve was not working properly, even when turned off it was still allowing water into the house. So he recommend that I replace the valve immediately, That made sense since we were shutting down the main valve to minimize the water damage in the house, until we had the leak repaired. He charged $ 175 to change the valve but when the job was completed the valve was leaking. He said if we do the slab leak repair with them then he would fix the leaking valve that he just installed for no charge. He left the job and left the valve leaking. Needless to say I used another plumber to fix both the slab leak and the leaking valve. As for just leak detection they did a good job.

Horrible leak beneath our slab 1950’s home. Jim was able to detect and strategically plan the best method of replacing pipes without destroying our house. Jim and Matt both came out and completely replaced our cold water pipes with copper piping. It was not an easy job since we don’t have an attic. They worked hard into the evening to ensure everything was just right. Our other contractor had to contact Jim for a quick question and he responded quickly. I would not want another water damage problem but if I did, I would not hesitate to contact Jim at American Leak Detection.

Unfortunately I have had to contact Chris and his staff twice over the last year on two isolated slab leaks (through referrals from other plumbers who could not do the job). Fortunately, Chris and his staff (Jim, Brent, Matt, Barbara and Melissa) are great to work with and were able to fix both of my leaks (one patch and the other a reroute). They have the most advanced leak detection technology and will be able to identify any leak within inches. I hope I will never have to contact them again (other than to thank them) but if I ever do, I know the leak will be repaired and with a 5 year warranty to boot. I highly recommend them and encourage anybody who needs a leak detection to give them a call.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!
Long story short. The lady on the phone assured me that their guys are great at finding the leak with a special equipment. The leak wasn’t where they said it was after digging through the tile. They wanted to make more holes. I said no. He wanted to charge for the digging. I refused because the leak wasn’t where he said it was. The whole thing turned ugly from there.
I hired another guy after that, he listened for the leak through the screw driver and found the leak! He charged much less for the detection AND to fix the leak!

American Leak Detection has been out to fix 2 leaks within the last year. They are always courteous, from the first phone call to the person who fixes the problem. They are on time or early. The work is done promptly and professionally. They discuss the options with us and try to do the least invasive options possible. We would definitely recommend this company and will be using them again if we have other leaks. They did a much better job than our regular plumbers.

I had a slow leak somewhere in my house. The house is on a slab and there was no evidence of it except that the water meter was running all the time. My plumber found two leaks (water heater and irrigation) but the meter was still running. My water co. recommended American Leak Detection. The service I got was tremendous. It was a difficult leak to locate. There was no visible evidence only a slight sound of water running and after much analysis Gene initially thought the leak was under the kitchen floor and that the floor would need to be jack hammered. Matt and his assistant also came by and were obviously very knowledgeable about plumbing providing further clues about my system. Gene came to repair the leak and after extensive testing determined that the leak was not under the slab (to my great relief) but in the flower bed just outside the kitchen. He capped off the leaking section of pipe and replaced the section with a new copper pipe. I was so impressed by their expertise and persistence. I recommend them highly!

This is an excellent firm to work with, from the receptionist, to our tech, Brent Graham who located the leak, and his associate who did the repair. Very professional, willing to listen. All deadlines kept. Their work looks great. They used quality materials throughout the repair. This was hardly the worst flood problem but they treated it like it was. I highly recommend this firm.

These guys recently installed a new feedline from the main water source on the sidewalk to my house. It was a somewhat involved, labor-​intensive job and Matt and Jim did a phenomenal job (and finished in one day). Super conscientious and knowledgeable, extremely courteous, and generally a pleasure to be around. Their expertise and experience were obvious from the first minute they set foot on the property. As a business owner myself, I understand the importance of providing good service with a smile, and American Leak fits that description to «T». Couldn’t be happier, and highly recommended.

We were in a desperate situation. Our main water line into our house broke underneath the concrete slab of the house and flooded the bottom floor. We had to shut off all the water into the house. These guys found the broken pipe under the floor within inches of the break. Things got much more complicated from there, but to make a very long story short, they ended up putting a whole new water line into the house. Every step of the way they were working with us to figure out the cheapest way to fix the problem. What nice guys! I would recommend them to anyone I know. So rare these days to find this kind of service. We feel so fortunate to have had them recommended to us by another plumber who felt like the job was too much for him. I hope that it is a long time before I need this kind of serious work done again, but if I do, I will call these guys again.
