Specialties

Known for generous size portion breakfasts — Sunday breakfast buffet. Outstanding fish and chips made from own beer batter, home made tartar sauce and coleslaw. Prime rib dinner special on Friday and Saturday nights — always a raving review. A popular restaurant and bar for the locals — reasonable prices and very good quality. Adjacent 9 unit motel — no frills, but clean and affordable.

History

Established in 1926.

The Tyee has been an integral part of Coupeville since the 1920’s. It was originally owned by Robert & Pat Partridge. «Pat’s Place», as it was known, provided hot lunches for the students of the Coupeville School, meals for locals and travelers alike, as well as hotel accommendations.

Robert Partridge was an Army barber at Fort Casey as well as an avid sports fan and booster of the town baseball team. After retiring from the Army he moved his shop to the building where the lounge is currently located. He built a baseball diamond and bleachers on what is now the parking lot and adjacent motel. Pat was the cook and also ran a small confectionery which included her wonderful home made pies.

The major changes were after the Herwick’s purchase. They changed the name to «TYEE» (indian word meaning ‘head man’) They fought for the liquor license and started the ‘tee pee’ lounge, making it a popular for locals. The Tyee continues to evolve with changes made from the
