SpringHill Suites Omaha East/Council Bluffs, IA

We were here for Olympic Swim Trails and were deeply disappointed. It seems management is the main issue to blame, but for more depth:
The keys didn’t work. Literally every time we tried to entire our room we were locked out. The front desk person was laughing saying «oh you’re just unlucky» but with a line of 4 rooms waiting for new cards, it’s clearly not «luck». It’s bad infrastructure. It really could be considered funny, but when you step outside and need to run in to grab something you forgot, going to the lobby for a new key gets to be a nuisance.
Housekeeping: the hotel was clearly understaffed. We called to get housekeeping early in the day because we needed to rest between prelims and finals. Of course, we’d get back with no housekeeping and when they did come ~5 there were no clean towels left. They were clearly rushing because the cleaning the did do consisted of throwing the blanket over the bed (with the sheets messed up below) and taking out the trash.
Breakfast: free breakfasts are not a money maker, so I understand not prioritizing it. I don’t understand saying you offer a free breakfast and then setting out stale muffins and cereal bins that are basically empty. If you offer something, please at least make sure you’re meeting the standard level of service.
We actually started looking for a new hotel but with the Trials they were all sold out.
Advice: if you want to have a full hotel, staff it properly and make sure the basic features are working (key cards). I understand skimping on some things, but if you offer breakfast at least make sure there is stocked food out.
Disappointing stay. Do not stay here if it’s going to be a busy time for the city– this hotel is clearly more comfortable handling small/​nonexistent crowds.

I stayed here the last few days for the Olympic trials and the College World Series. This hotel has great facilities, great food, great service, but you cannot get good sleep in bed. The rooms are about 50 degrees and is not suitable for sleep, which causes me to rate this 4 star instead of 5 star

I booked this room for the zoo package. This is a family trip with 3 kids. I assumed if they offered a zoo package then this will be more of a kid friendly hotel. Well i thought wrong. I guess in a way it was because there were about 10 kids running the floor at 11pm, the oldest of them had to be no more than 10. I can say once in my room i could barely hear them. I assumed their parents were the ones getting sloshed in the bar downstairs. I walked down the hall at one point and i swear i smelled marijuana and hear a guy cursing someone out that he was on the phone with.
I still give 2 stars because the rooms are very spacious and the ladies at the front desk seem nice. They greeted me with smiles. When i check out tomorrow we will see if they still have the same smiles.
Had to update. I found out that there was a big pool tournament that night so that was the cause for the rowdiness. The front desk seemed very apologetic.

The hotel is beautiful. We were really excited to stay here and paid a premium to be close to our wrestling event. We have three kids and all were very much looking forward to swimming in the hotel and it is CLOSED indefinitely due to chemicals not being right. I would definitely NOT have stayed had I known. Kids are super disappointed. Not happy. I understand that things happen but they sure didn’t offer a discount.

If possible I would choose another hotel. The staff are not trained to deal with anything outside of the ordinary. When we went to bed the first night there was blood on the comforter. They were out of towels the whole weekend! They overbooked the hotel by four people. They didn’t have enough staff to keep up with people at breakfast there’s usually about 10 people in line and they kept running out of food. Housekeeping service did not vacuum or make up one of the beds! the staff was unsympathetic And lacking customer service

Check in was quick, room was clean and the free breakfast was plentiful. Open lobby with many TVs and comfortable seating, great place to hang out and visit with friends and family.

The room was large and clean, the fitness center had enough equipment to be useful and free breakfast and wifi were an added bonus. I’d stay again.

Had a very pleasant 4 night stay. Complimentary breakfast is better on weekdays with fresh cut up fruit. The hotel rooms were clean and the hospitality staff were very pleasant and accommodating. appreciate the free WiFi. (The shower only leaks onto the floor if you don’t take the time to place the magnets correctly inside the tub)

Comfortable, short one-​night stay.
Would I stay here again, sure!
Late arrival around 11:45pm; it was nice to be able to update my arrival time in the Marriott app (w/​o the need to actually call the hotel). I wasn’t the only late arrival… as there were several others checking in the same time.
Free breakfast in the morning is always nice. I opt for the hot foods: sausage, eggs topped some salsa, and coffee.
Room w King bed (I think technically may have been a studio?) was more than fine for my short stay.

**Things that bugged me:
Took (seriously!) over 5min to get warm water around midnight for a shower (annoying)
Could hear some moderate freeway traffic (shoulda brought my ear plugs)
Heard some weird drip in the bathroom — — and no, it wasn’t the shower faucet — — sounded as though coming in from the ceiling fan area

Nice hotel in an isolated area thought it would be safe and quite, I parked buy the front door because I thought it was a safe spot. Next day I drove home to find my car had been ripped off and a suitcase gone!

i thought this place was kind of pricey but dang, it was more than worth it! I wasn’t expecting anything special, so it was a pleasant shock to walk into a large suite with high ceilings! My king bed room was very spacious and well-​decorated. Though the kids in the next room were loud i could not hear them through the walls. Quiet place! The hotel provided all the major daily papers for free, something i always love.
the pool area was terrific [pool over 5.5′ deep] and the exercise room was very well equipped. the pool area even had special chairs for the disabled! i liked the room’s snowy white bed cover — it guaranteed that you were getting a very clean bed.
the in-​room coffee was delish. Then the breakfast was huge and the offerings were fresh and tasty. The breakfast staff worked very hard and should get respect.
you don’t have to check out till noon. i wish i were back there right now!

This hotel is located fairly close to the Henry Doorly Zoo which is why we chose it. It’s also very close to three casinos if you’re into that kind of thing. But otherwise, it’s really not terribly close to much of interest, however the rooms are nice with comfy beds and the entire hotel was clean and generally well-​maintained (whirlpool was not functional). The staff were all very pleasant. They have a $ 3/​drink happy hour in the evenings which is great. On Friday evenings they bring in some sort of food from Famous Daves which is fairly nearby. There is a free breakfast in the mornings with a fair number of hot items.
If I had one complaint, it was that while there are small refrigerators in the room, the refrigerators have no freezer, so we were unable to refreeze ice packs. Not the end of the world as we can improvise, but if you’re going to put in a tiny fridge, why not choose one with a freezer?
Check-​in and check-​out was fast and friendly. If visiting Omaha again, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here.

We arrived around 10pm and the check in was quick and easy.
Our room was clean. We had a great breakfast and even got a little time to swim in the morning.
It is sort of off the main drag in Council Bluff and was nice and quite.
My only knock on the place was the towels seemed a little ratty. I’d go back though without hesitation

Ok hotel. Front Desk staff very good. Something disgusting was on the outside of my shower curtain and was never cleaned throughout the week, also killed one spider in the room other than that an ok hotel.

Very nice hotel in the true Spring Hill Suites style. Reasonably priced as well. Not a big fan of True exercise equipment, but the fitness center was nice for this hotel. Breakfast was very good with a nice selection of hot and cold along with fruit and yogurt.

This is much better than the Fairfield in Omaha and if you want a free breakfast it is better than the Courtyard as well (lacking the closeness to downtown that the Courtyard has).
The rooms are decent with microwave, fridge, swivel TV, sink, and decent sitting working area. Bathroom is nice, but the hot water was almost a all or nothing thing. Breakfast in the morning had decent variety and was nice. The exercise room and pool are great and had a recumbent bike which I was happy to see. Location is also not bad as some decent eating establishments are near by. Staff is also friendly even if they mess up entering information on check up sometimes.
I do like the Courtyard a little better with location as parking in downtown Omaha is difficult, but do not like how you do not get a free breakfast even with elite status. Depending on what you want Springhill Suites is a great choice and worth staying at again.

I love this chain! The rooms are partitioned to look large and full of features. It’s the little things that count… like the large swivel flat screen TV that can turn to be watched from either the bed or even the couch or office. Or the nice shower with plenty of pressure (because we all know the shower makes the hotel). Or the free wi-​fi. Or the complimentary breakfast. Or the late checkout. Or the good military discount. Or even the many lights with easy to find switches or plenty of outlets to plug your electronics. Take your pic, but any time I am on a road-​trip, I will go the extra mile to find one of these (did I mention it has pretty good pricing too)

I stayed in the Fairfield in Omaha the night before. The Springhill was 25 dollars cheaper and quite a bit nicer. Like the other reviewers said, nice shower, comfortable bed and solid internet. Oh yeah. The breakfast was pretty good too.

Great place for the price. Clean rooms & good customer service. Cheaper rates than in Omaha. I would DEFINITELY stay here again!

Friendly staff… check.
The SpringHill is a good location at the crossroads of 29÷80… but not right up against the highway.
