Ouch, this mall has potential for a Blues Brothers reshoot. It’s virtually empty with only a few stores hanging on for dear life. The Dillard’s here is not a regular store, but a wastebasket where they transfer inventory that can not be sold as markdowns at other stores and disposed off anywhere else. I am pretty sure they have sport coats from the 70’s here. I spotted a double breasted Hart Shaffer Marx suit on a rack; so I may not be that far off… The food court consisted of two options; neither one looked appetizing.

It’s dead. A Victoria’s Secret, a Dillard’s, and a Hot Topic. Maybe three other stores.

Words can’t even explain this mall, lol. Family and I were traveling thru, husband went to the casino and thought I do some shopping. Found this mall on their tourist book, decided to check it out. I think there were about six stores that were still in business, Dillard’s, children’s place, Victoria’s Secret, a toy collectable store, a tailor store, and another cant remember, oh and one place to eat in food court. It was a very sad and lonely mall. People must spend all their money at the casinos here. On the bright side, my son had fun playing in the kids play area by himself, and we spent 30 min in the toy store. Skip this mall and go to metro shopping center.

This mall is a dying breed. 15 years ago this is the place to be! people would come over from Omaha just to shop here! But now, its made of a unique stores and a lot of retured senior getting together for fast paced mall walking and coffee. The mall itself has no more major department stores, but does contain a discount Dillards. This is place to get something you can’t find anywhere else, but be prepared to dig. The dressing rooms are disgusting and smell horrible. i am not sure how much longer the stores in here will be standing.

Small play area in the middle for tots and a cheap arcade area that’s fun. Very few stores left, but still quite a few I enjoy like Yankee Candle store, The Children’s Place, Zales, and an outlet Dillard’s store.

On my last trip to visit my friend and his family in Omaha, Nebraska(my friend has since moved to Kansas City), we went shopping here at Mall of the Bluffs across the Missouri River from Omaha in Council Bluffs, Iowa. I’m sad to report that between the first time I visited in the mid 80s and my last visit, it has gone downhill, and it used to be a really nice place. Even here in the heartland of America where the unemployment rate is among the lowest at 4%, businesses have not been immune to the economic downturn. If this keeps up, Mall of the Bluffs will meet the same fate as the Crossroads Mall in central Omaha, which is now a shadow of its former self. There are currently only two anchor stores at this mall, namely Dillard’s and Sears. There also used to be a J.C. Penney and a Target, but those stores have since relocated elsewhere in the city. This mall has a food court with the following dining options: Charley’s Grilled Subs, Famous Wok, Sbarro, Taco John’s and Wing Champion. Outside the mall are McDonald’s, KFC and Papa Murphy’s. For the kids, there is a play area and kiddie rides. A community room is also available to hold special events, meetings and such. Another service they offer(especially in the winter when it can get bitterly cold) is free automobile jump starts, something I’ve never seen in California(I guess our weather doesn’t get cold enough). There were a number of empty storefronts, a sign of the times. :-(The décor shows its age and updates are desperately needed. Hopefully Mall of the Bluffs will bounce back as the economy [slowly] improves… someday.

At one point and time this mall was in a healthy status quo. However like many malls across the country many stores have moved out of it and it is slowly succumbing to the dying mall virus. Not such a fun place to shop anymore but those are the times huh?
